Rawlings Heart of the Hide R2G 12.75" Baseball Glove: PROR3319-6BC

Get ready to perform at your best with this Rawlings Heart of the Hide R2G baseball glove. Its 12.75" length makes it a perfect choice for outfielders, and the player only had to do 35% of the  break-in.

Glove Benefits

This Heart of the Hide baseball glove features the same pro qualities you've come to expect from Rawlings. Its deer-tanned cowhide lining, padded thumb sleeve and soft wrist strap offer superior comfort, especially during those long innings. It's made with a 3319 pattern, which offers the pro H-web and is a great choice for outfielders who are routinely snagging pop flies all day long. Be sure to note the Contour Fitting that allows for narrow and lowered finger stalls, an adjusted back opening & smaller wrist opening. That Contour Fitting should allow younger players and older players with smaller hands to start using the Heart of the Hide gloves.

Warranty

You can buy this Rawlings glove with confidence as it is covered by a twelve (12) month manufacturer’s warranty period (Be sure to note that the warranty does not cover gloves that were placed in a microwave or oven, gloves that have been over-oiled or gloves with broken laces). If you buy the glove from JustGloves and find yourself with a possible warranty issue, please reach out to the JustGloves Glove Experts. They will be sure to get you the info needed to reach out to Rawlings and begin the warranty replacement process.

Great Glove but not "Ready 2 Go" Rick Delphi Coach

Pros: Very high quality materials and construction. My 15yo loves it. This glove should last.

Cons: this glove was not "ready 2 go" as advertised. Very Stiff. required a good break in on our end. Much more than 25-35% that they advertised. Not a deal breaker for us though. I still give it 5 stars.

Buyer Beware Mike Parent

Pros: The glove is nice, haven't been able to use it yet though

Cons: Please note that the glove does NOT come broken in at all despite the description and video unless you pay the extra fee for the Glove Prep. Disappointed

I am thinking of ordering a custom glove using this same pattern, but i have two questions about it. 1, in the description it saids its made for players with smaller hands, but how does it compare to a normal hand stall (example the 3039 pattern)? 2, how does this glove close compared to a 3039? Like will close like the 3039 pattern or will close more like a infield glove? I hope whoever is responding is able to answer this :) Yuki
This Rawlings Heart of the Hide R2G 12.75" Baseball Glove (PROR3319-6BC) will feature a narrow-fit near the wrist opening (about .5" less than normal) which is designed for teenagers or adults with smaller hands. However, the finger stalls will be the standard adult size. It will also have an extra deep pocket that is often not preferred by infielders as it can create more time between fielding & throwing a ground ball.

What percent player break-in is this glove? Jarrett
The Rawlings Heart of the Hide R2G 12.75" Baseball Glove: PROR3319-6BC will require around a 20-25% player break-in.

Would this glove be adequate for my 14 year old daughter to play outfield in fastpitch softball? The fastpitch gloves are limited and it seems like the top shelf baseball gloves are better quality than the fastpitch gloves. Jesse
I would not suggest a baseball glove for use is fastpitch softball. While this glove does feature smaller finger stalls and wrist openings, the glove is not designed to fit a women's hand. Also, the pocket will not be as deep in a baseball glove. You will need the deeper pocket that comes with fastpitch gloves to allow more room for the size of the softball.

Since the breaking-in process is faster, does that mean that the glove will not last as long? Nat Lindeman
There is no correlation that an R2G glove, like the Rawlings Heart of the Hide R2G 12.75" Baseball Glove: PROR3319-6BC, would not last as long as a regular HOH glove as a result of the leather hides being pre-treated more at the factory during the manufacturing process.
Cameron
My 10 year old son needs an outfield glove as he has an infield glove for his 2b time. Is this glove to large for him for when he is in the outfield? Thanks Ed
The Rawlings Heart of the Hide R2G 12.75" Baseball Glove: PROR3319-6BC is designed for ages 10 and up.

About the Brand

Rawlings is a major manufacturer of competitive team sports equipment and apparel for baseball, basketball, and football, as well as licensed MLB, NFL, and NCAA retail products. Rawlings is a major supplier to professional, collegiate, interscholastic, and amateur organizations worldwide, including the Official Baseball Supplier to Major League Baseball.

The first real innovation in glove making occurred in 1912 when Rawlings Sporting Goods Company introduced the "Sure Catch" glove, which was "endorsed by leading players all over the country." The Sure Catch was a one-piece glove with sewn-in finger channels and looked better suited for a duck's foot than a man's hand. Catchers' mitts used at the time were large and bulky with a single leather thong passing for a web.

In 1920, Bill Doak, a journeyman pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, approached Rawlings with an idea for improving the baseball glove from a mere protective device to a genuine aid in fielding. The "Bill Doak" model was so revolutionary that it stayed in Rawlings' line until 1953. Its key feature was a multi-thong web laced into the first finger and thumb, which created for the first time in baseball's young life, a natural pocket.

In 1925, Rawlings unveiled a three-fingered fielder's glove, and ten years later improved the Bill Doak model with a two-piece leather web. At the same time, the "T" web became a rage for first basemen's mitts. The pocket underwent a pronounced change in 1941 when the Trapper Mitt, also known as the Claw, appeared. The "Deep Well" pocket was so unique that Rawlings quickly patented it. The design was improved in 1950 by adding a leather piece across the top. Another significant creation occurred in 1948 with the three-fingered Playmaker. A five-fingered fielder's model, with all fingers laced together, provided greater pocket control.

The six-fingered Trap-Eze evolved in the 1960's. In more recent years, Rawlings produced the Fastback design, which gives a glove a snugger fit, greater extension, and overall control. The Holdster is a slot through which a finger can be extended for additional protection from impacts on the pocket. Then, there is the Edge-U-Cated Heel with its extended U-shaped lacing and the Pro H Web and much-copied Basket Web.

Some of Rawlings's more recent glove innovations also include the unique Spin-Stopper design which reduces ball spin when the ball hits the glove, and the Cantilever glove design feature that provides a cushioned area between the hand and the glove's palm area. In all, Rawlings has produced and patented more functionally innovative glove features and designs than that of any other glove manufacturer. The result is that the modern baseball glove is much larger, more comfortable, better padded, and made to last far longer than its ancestors. It is not uncommon to see today's Major League players wearing the same Rawlings glove they wore during their college playing days. In fact, Rawlings is the #1 glove in the major leagues. Rawlings maintains about 65 models of baseball and softball mitts and gloves in its line. The prototypes of virtually all of them have been field-tested by professionals before entering a sporting goods dealer's inventory.
