Description

New baseball gloves for the season and beyond! The Rawlings Heart of the Hide Dual Core series has always been a fielder's top choice and this model is no different. The Dual Core Technology associated with these unique baseball gloves is a cut into the palm lining allowing for position specific break points for a personalized fit and an easy, natural closure. During the catch, the inner palm adjusts to the shape of the outer palm; efficiently absorbing impact and protecting the player's hand from any sting. Additionally, since these gloves consist of the exclusive Horween "Featherlite" leather, the Dual Core baseball gloves undergo a rigorous tanning process which results in a soft, game-ready feel and less of a break-in period. Not only is there less of a break-in period, but since the palm lining is the same material as the shell, the Heart of the Hide Dual Core gloves experience a consistent break-in and have excellent pocket formation throughout the life of the glove. Similar to that of other Rawlings ball gloves, the Tennessee tanned rawhide leather laces tie it all together while adding structure, durability, and unbeatable strength. Last, but not least, the thumb loops will come padded for a luxurious and comfortable feel. Rawlings: The Mark of a Pro!

This model, the Rawlings Heart of the Hide Dual Core Baseball Glove (PRO314DC-2BCS), features an 11.50-inch pattern, a pro I-web, and a conventional open back for a traditional look. LCB Coach

Pros: Great craftsmanship from Rawlings once again on the HoH level glove. My 11 year old travel ball player has taken this out of the box and immediately started playing catch. The glove is not broken in out of the box, which is expected in a glove of this caliber. It has formed to his hand within one week (~300 throws/catches) and is already beginning to break in and form a pocket. I have put no oil or conditioner on the glove so far (waiting for the natural break to occur first). Excellent quality for the price.

Cons: Stiff out of the box (expected if you purchase a top of the line leather mitt). No other cons to submit at this point.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Rawlings Heart of the Hide Dual Core 11.5" Baseball Glove: PRO314DC-2BCS? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

Best way to break in this glove over time? Doug
The best way to break in the Rawlings Heart of the Hide Dual Core 11.5" Baseball Glove: PRO314DC-2BCS would be to play catch with the glove and use small amounts of glove oil/conditioner to lather up the glove. Using a ball or mallet to focus on break point areas (heel of glove and thumb and pinkie stalls) will help soften these areas and allow one to form their glove to their preference.
Cameron
Is this glove (11.5") the same measurement you would use for youth 11.5"? In other words, can a 10U player use this glove or is this 11.5" measurement for adults only? Doug
The 11.50 measurement of the Rawlings Heart of the Hide Dual Core 11.5" Baseball Glove: PRO314DC-2BCS is no different than that of a youth model. The main difference between the Rawlings Heart of the Hide Dual Core 11.5" Baseball Glove: PRO314DC-2BCS and a youth model would be the wrist opening and finger stalls. With a youth model, one gets a smaller wrist opening and tighter finger stalls for a more secure fit.
Cameron
Would this glove be too big for a 10 year old? Doug
The Rawlings Heart of the Hide Dual Core 11.5" Baseball Glove: PRO314DC-2BCS is a glove that could be used by a 10 year old since the wrist opening is a narrow fit..
Cameron
I've read somewhere that this glove is for adults with small hand. If one has a big hand, would one find it uncomfortable? Nets
The Rawlings Heart of the Hide Dual Core 11.5" Baseball Glove: PRO314DC-2BCS does fit pretty snug on an adult hand, so it may be uncomfortably small for a large adult hand.
Logan
This glove has the Heart of the Hide Horween "Featherlite" Leather - Game Ready With Less Break In Time. Would this be considered a little less quality and less life expectancy than the rawlings with the top 5% steerhide leather? Cory
The Rawlings Heart of the Hide Dual Core 11.5" Baseball Glove: PRO314DC-2BCS is designed to be more game ready, while still using quality materials. Although this glove will most likely not last as long as a traditional Heart of the Hide glove, it does serve its intended purpose of providing an easy to use glove for young or intermediate players.
Logan
Can you explain why this shows up as an option in a search using the glove coach for my 11 year old son, but the answered questions indicate it's probably too big for a youth. Is there a youth version of this specific model? Thanks Hank
The Rawlings Heart of the Hide Dual Core 11.5" Baseball Glove: PRO314DC-2BCS will have a narrow Fit Design - Smaller Hand Opening for Intermediate, youth or Adult Players Seeking A Snug Fit. The Rawlings Heart of the Hide Dual Core 11.5" Baseball Glove: PRO314DC-2BCS would work for your son and an adult with a bit smaller hands looking for a tight fit.
Max
Would this glove fit on a 15 year old? Ray
Yes, if your player is looking to play on the infield then the Rawlings Heart of the Hide Dual Core 11.5" Baseball Glove: PRO314DC-2BCS would certainly fit their hand and provide an excellent option.
Tyler
Is this a youth glove? I am buying for my 6 year old who is starting coach pitch this fall. Baseballmom
The Rawlings Heart of the Hide Dual Core 11.5" Baseball Glove: PRO314DC-2BCS will come equipped with a narrow fit design, but I would not say that this is a youth glove. I would recommend something more along the lines of the Rawlings R9 Series 11" Youth Baseball Glove: R9YPT1-19B.
Tyler
How much smaller is the wrist of a narrow fit glove? Chris
The Rawlings Heart of the Hide Dual Core 11.5" Baseball Glove: PRO314DC-2BCS will be approximately 1/2 smaller on the narrow fit than the regular model.
Max
Would this glove fit a six foot 2 inches 14 year old? bob
The Rawlings Heart of the Hide Dual Core 11.5" Baseball Glove: PRO314DC-2BCS would be too small in the hand opening based upon your height of a 14 year old.
Max
My 8 year old plays select baseball is using a soft leather pro lite glove. Would this glove fit an average height 8-9 year old looking to get something to work on for next spring season? tech fan
The Rawlings Heart of the Hide Dual Core 11.5" Baseball Glove: PRO314DC-2BCS would be a solid glove to grow with as an 8 year old, but if you are looking for a perfect fit for right now you might need to look at a smaller hand fitting glove.
Max
I just purchased this glove, and it doesn't have any heal. i.e. it does not have any padding at the bottom near the wrist. Is this normal? My son just purchased another model of a Heart of the Hide Dual Core 11.5" and his does have a heal. Bob
Over the past 2 plus decades a lot of the manufactures have reduced much of the heal padding that gloves utilized. This was a direct result of speaking with consumers and the big league players who mentioned that too much padding caused baseballs to ricochet unfavorably off the heal padding of the glove. Unfortunately we are not sure as to the exact amount of padding the Rawlings Heart of the Hide Dual Core 11.5" Baseball Glove: PRO314DC-2BCS will feature in the heal of the glove
Cameron
Can this be used for a 17 year old high school baseball? If not, what do you recommend? John
The Rawlings Heart of the Hide Dual Core 11.5" Baseball Glove: PRO314DC-2BCS could be too small for the hand of a 17 year old, because of the narrow fit. I would take a look at the https://www.justballgloves.com/product/rawlings-heart-of-the-hide-hyper-shell-11-5--baseball-glove--pro204-2bcf/30119/, which would be a great option for a high school player.
Max
Will this fit a 5' 5" and 100 lb 7th grader? He is currently using the GYPT2-2B. It fits pretty snug around the wrist. How much wider is the opening on this glove. Carter
Yes, the Rawlings Heart of the Hide Dual Core 11.5" Baseball Glove: PRO314DC-2BCS should work great for him. The glove he is currently using is a youth model, where as this glove is designed for adults so it will have a bigger fit in the wrist and fingers. It won't have the snug fit he is experiencing now.
Tori
Can this glove be used for a high school player? Ray
The Rawlings Heart of the Hide Dual Core 11.5" Baseball Glove: PRO314DC-2BCS could be used for high school with a player seeking a snug fit, because of the narrow fit design you could struggle with large hands fitting into the glove.

About the Brand

Rawlings is a major manufacturer of competitive team sports equipment and apparel for baseball, basketball, and football, as well as licensed MLB, NFL, and NCAA retail products. Rawlings is a major supplier to professional, collegiate, interscholastic, and amateur organizations worldwide, including the Official Baseball Supplier to Major League Baseball.

The first real innovation in glove making occurred in 1912 when Rawlings Sporting Goods Company introduced the "Sure Catch" glove, which was "endorsed by leading players all over the country." The Sure Catch was a one-piece glove with sewn-in finger channels and looked better suited for a duck's foot than a man's hand. Catchers' mitts used at the time were large and bulky with a single leather thong passing for a web.

In 1920, Bill Doak, a journeyman pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, approached Rawlings with an idea for improving the baseball glove from a mere protective device to a genuine aid in fielding. The "Bill Doak" model was so revolutionary that it stayed in Rawlings' line until 1953. Its key feature was a multi-thong web laced into the first finger and thumb, which created for the first time in baseball's young life, a natural pocket.

In 1925, Rawlings unveiled a three-fingered fielder's glove, and ten years later improved the Bill Doak model with a two-piece leather web. At the same time, the "T" web became a rage for first basemen's mitts. The pocket underwent a pronounced change in 1941 when the Trapper Mitt, also known as the Claw, appeared. The "Deep Well" pocket was so unique that Rawlings quickly patented it. The design was improved in 1950 by adding a leather piece across the top. Another significant creation occurred in 1948 with the three-fingered Playmaker. A five-fingered fielder's model, with all fingers laced together, provided greater pocket control.

The six-fingered Trap-Eze evolved in the 1960's. In more recent years, Rawlings produced the Fastback design, which gives a glove a snugger fit, greater extension, and overall control. The Holdster is a slot through which a finger can be extended for additional protection from impacts on the pocket. Then, there is the Edge-U-Cated Heel with its extended U-shaped lacing and the Pro H Web and much-copied Basket Web.

Some of Rawlings's more recent glove innovations also include the unique Spin-Stopper design which reduces ball spin when the ball hits the glove, and the Cantilever glove design feature that provides a cushioned area between the hand and the glove's palm area. In all, Rawlings has produced and patented more functionally innovative glove features and designs than that of any other glove manufacturer. The result is that the modern baseball glove is much larger, more comfortable, better padded, and made to last far longer than its ancestors. It is not uncommon to see today's Major League players wearing the same Rawlings glove they wore during their college playing days. In fact, Rawlings is the #1 glove in the major leagues. Rawlings maintains about 65 models of baseball and softball mitts and gloves in its line. The prototypes of virtually all of them have been field-tested by professionals before entering a sporting goods dealer's inventory.
