Pros: This glove just feels right on your hand, like ole' faithful but brand new. Whover said long brak-in is reviewing the wrong glove, used it for an hour and its ALMOST game ready. Buffalo / Kangaroo skin is harder to break in. DEEP pocket, I love it.

Cons: could use an index finger mat/pad on the outside. Just nit pickin here.

Pros: This glove is probably the strongest and the most durable glove on the field. This glove will last you the rest of your life if you take good care of it. Also it's AMERICAN MADE!!!! And it's really an under priced glove if you ask me.

Cons: The only part I hate about it is that it is really a pain to break in.

Pros: By far the best glove I ever owned. Broke in wonderfully, fit perfectly.

Cons: I lost it last weekend after coaching my son's Little League game. I'm in mourning--and so is my son, for whom I was "just breaking it in" until he grew big enough to use it.

Pros: This glove rocks I had it game ready in two days with the manufactures suggestions it broke a little quicker. My nine year old loves it. He plays around nintey games a year and wore out three other gloves, so no worrys with this one my Nokona has been around forever.

Cons: Not a one

Pros: This glove blew all my previous gloves out of the water, the leather feels amazing and the craftsmanship is flawless, I will be using it to play 3rd this softball season and so far it's been amazing!

Cons: I wish I would have found this glove while I was still in high school playing baseball!

Pros: My Dad bought me this glove whenever I was fourteen years old (of course, the glove has been cosmetically update since then, but the glove itself is identical.) I haven't had a lot of high quality gloves in my day, but I have used other expensive broken-in gloves of my friends (A2000, Zett) and while I do like the weight of the Zett being somewhat lighter, no glove has ever compared to the feel and softness the Nokona leather achieves. I'm 25 now and the glove, well as you can imagine is amazing. I stopped playing hardcore baseball when I was like 16 or so but I enjoy the old equipment

Cons: Is a little heavy...

Pros: Great, classic baseball glove. Ball Glove Warehouse's service was really good. I had trouble getting this glove from other vendors (one was back ordered, another sent the wrong glove), but BGW sent exactly what I ordered and it arrived in 5 days.

Cons: This glove is very stiff and will take a while to break in, but all good things take time.

Pros: Very durable... awesome glove. My daughter LOVES this glove like nothing other! Dad Loves Nokona because they stand by there product. after 2 seasons of play there was a little hole forming inbetweeen two fingers (palm side). Glove was out of warranty and they excepted the glove back, repaired it and sent back asap. VERY HAPPY with there service. Plus they're American made!! The only way to go.

Cons: None... other than the leather is so tough... they take a bit to break in.

Pros: I love the feel and how it fits. The pocket has formed very well. The craftsmanship is top notch! Made in the US of A. I play 3-4 days a week and I love this glove.

Cons: It took a little longer to break in that I thought. But it was worth the wait.

Pros: Good leather quality and craftsmanship in this glove. Very large pocket area for softball. Good for people with large hands, and suitable for outfield use.

Cons: large hand area, and even when the straps are tightened, it is too loose in the finger areas for smaller hands. The web has a large arch at the top, and the thumb is excessively long making it difficult to pick up balls from the ground and will become floppy over time. You must scoop a stationary ball up, which is fine for outfield but not optimum for middle infield.

Pros: This glove is incredibly well made and stiff in all the right places. The detail and the quality of leather are like nothing I have ever seen. I've only owned it for two weeks at this point but it IS game ready although I expect it to break in a little more over time as it takes shape to my hand. This is my first Nokona glove. My previous brand was Rawlings which I doubt I would ever go back to however, it is way too early to tell.

Cons: The price could be considered a con but I strongly believe that this is going to last me multiple seasons based on the feel and craftsmanship. Can't say for sure though. A lot of people have mentioned the 'long' break-in period. I am going to call it a 'difficult' break-in period. I grabbed the Nokona conditioner and followed the instructions for application on the 'Justballgloves' website and then played and tossed the ball into it like crazy for a week. It was then game ready ... So the break-in was difficult but not long. Hope that helps! Great glove :D

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Nokona Classic Walnut Softball Series: WS-1200C? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

Is this a baseball or softball model? CoachJ
It's typically used for baseball, but there's nothing that says it can't be used for softball.
Jeff
Do you know when you will have a right handed throw model in stock? Tan Man
We should be getting the right hand throwers in stock soon. As soon as we get them in, they will be up on our website and you will be able to purchase them.
Brett
Could this glove be used for third base softball? IG
Sure. The size is up to your personal preference, but there is nothing that says this glove cannot be used in softball.
Brett
It says it's a softball glove, but everyone seems to be using it for baseball. What is softball or baseball? Dave
There is nothing that says it cannot be used for baseball. This is designed with a larger pocket and a slightly smaller hand opening to accommodate a softball player. However, this model fits pretty comfortably for adults males with average to slightly above average size hands. If you use it for baseball, nobody will know it's advertised as a softball glove.
Brett
Does the Nokona classic come in a 12.75 for a right handed softball player? jana
The Classic Walnut series does not come in a 12.75.
KB
If it's typically for baseball then why is it listed as a softball model? Hal
This glove can be used for baseball if someone likes to have a bigger pocket. This glove would work great in both.
Kris
Do they make it for a left hander? Bnice81
This glove is made for a left handed thrower. We are currently out of stock on that option. We are expecting to receive more and once we do, that option will be listed on our website for you to choose.
Jennifer
Is this glove too small to be used in the outfield? Rob
The Nokona Classic Walnut Softball Series: WS1200C (AMG175WCW) is usually more preferred by infielders since it is only a 12.00 model. However, if you prefer a smaller glove for outfield, this glove could certainly still be used.
Jennifer
What kind of leather does this glove have? Code
The Nokona Walnut Softball Series gloves will feature a full aniline leather which is extremely soft yet strong and durable.
Mac
Does it come in a left handed throw model? Chuck
Unfortunately, we are sold out of the 2016 Nokona Classic Walnut Softball Series: WS1200C in a left hand thrower model.
John P.
Nokona once made a 12" Walnut Series baseball glove. Is this the same glove or are they not making it for baseball anymore? Dave
Nokona still features a 12" Walnut Baseball Glove on their site. However, we have not carried that baseball mitt in a while. This Nokona Classic Walnut Softball Series (WS-1200C) will differ as its design should allow for a bigger pocket to handle a softball.

About the Brand

Joe Phillips writes about his visit to Nokona. It was like sitting in at the plantation party in Gone with the Wind or maybe gazing from the grandstand at the “Field of Dreams” while the Black Sox players tried to work out their idled muscle kinks. And, I was gently reminded by the lines in that movie while I dug into a delicious plate of North Texas barbecue: “threshing crews eating at outdoor tables. It continually reminds us of what once was, like an Indian-head penny in a handful of new coins. . . You talk a good dream.” And here I was. . . graciously invited into this magical and charming “Field of Glove-Making Dreams” in former Comanche Indian land at Nocona, Texas. It was a warm August evening, basked in a golden harvest moon, while friends and the Nokona family paid its kindly southern regards to two of their own and two of America’s finest but relatively obscure glove makers, Bobby Storey and Elvin Ray “Ab” Lemons. You see, the pair had just completed fifty years of time-honored employment with Nocona Athletic Goods, the last of the all-American made ball glove company's. The occasion brought echoes of past successes and human contentment, but in Nocona today you still experience much the same American texture of yesterday and perhaps a glimpse into tomorrow as well.

The two stately gentlemen were being honored in a way that could have taken place in the same manner when they first reported for full-time work at Nokona, in 1952, or back even earlier, in 1933 when the company started making sports equipment. During a brief and informal presentation at the celebration, Nokona’s new sales manager called the two glove makers “Legends - because that’s what their ball gloves stood for, American know-how and pride taken in a best-made product.”

A man of few words but a marveled craftsman who could literally conjure a sows ear into a playable baseball mitt, Mr. Lemons got up and fondly recalled the several men he worked with through his half-century and of the training that had been passed along to him from his old bosses.

His counter part and just as talented, Bobby Storey, had filled in at just about every job at Nokona. Bobby, the son of the sporting goods founder, R.E. “Bob” Storey had most recently served as president and now chairman of the board of Nokona. Though past retirement age like Mr. Lemons, he’s now serving at one of his favorite roles, that of ball glove designer.

At a time for employment in this country when five years is considered a long tenure with the same company, Ab and Bobby are not even the first to complete a half-century journey with Nocona Athletics. The now deceased Jewell Brickey, hit that milestone in 1993, after joining the company during World War II. That’s the kind of devotion that employees forge into this glove-making outfit. A devoted and sustained tenure here is not rare. Last year the company advertising, displayed along with Storey and Lemons, three other employees who had garnered 40 years with Nokona, Warren Clary, Bud Meekins, and Melvin Weedin.“

I don’t have to tell you that the one constant through all the years has been baseball”, wrote W.P. Kinsella. And the most constant of ball glove makers has been Nokona, and the men and women there who keep alive the tradition of American craftsmanship of ball glove making. The spirit of glove-making is still alive and well in Nocona, Texas.
