Pros: Just received and it is a beautiful glove. It will fit a medium sized adult hand after breaking in and can be used by infielder, pitcher, and outfielder, as it is a good intermediate size. For me, the 6-finger model breaks in easier than the standard glove. This glove will last a lifetime and is worth the investment. This is my third Nokona.

Pros: Just purchased this glove for my 10U son as an outfield glove. It is a beautiful glove and you can immediately see and feel the high quality and craftsmanship. The glove is tapered for a youth hand, so although it is a 12.25" pattern, he can control the glove well. It comes from the factory about 85% broken in, and after a few spirited games of catch and a light coating of conditioner (I used Rawlings Glove Butter) it seems to have molded to his hand beautifully and should be game ready by next week. Still early, but this seems like the type of quality glove that will last him for many years.

Cons: The glove is now called the Select Plus Series 7, rather than the S-300 (I confirmed with Nokona that it is the same glove. The only difference is that it now features the new Nokona logo, which is more abstract/modern looking (see their website) and doesn't incorporate the Native American head (frankly I prefer the classic old logo)

beautiful glove! Baseball Mom parent

Pros: Soft leather, nicely built, gorgeous glove. our 12 year old got one for Christmas this morning. You can tell it will break in nicely- it's a huge upgrade from his previous gloves which we had spent $100 - $150 on. Love the construction of the glove and he says it's super comfortable. We cant wait to see it in action this year.

Cons: not sure yet...

This glove rocks! Chris Geren Parent

Pros: Amazing glove that is built to last and breaks in almost over night. I wanted my son to have a top level glove he could use for three to five years. This is the one. He loves the glove. I would highly recommend.

Cons: Not really a con, the glove is expensive. You get what you pay for.

Have a question about the Nokona Alpha Select Plus Series Baseball Glove: S-7T? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

My son is 11 and left handed, he plays outfield, first and pitches. is his glove comparable in weight to the Mizuno Prospect series? He will wear a different glove when he pitches, but I really like the Nokona made in USA. Would this be a good glove for him?
fitter
The Nokona Alpha Select Series: S300 is a great choice for an outfielder. It will be easy to break-in and is very durable. The Nokona Alpha Select Series will be slightly heavier than the Mizuno Prospect Series.
Kara
Would this glove be good for softball, being that the Nokona gloves are a bit smaller than advertised?
Louis
The Nokona Alpha Select Series: S300 are best suited for youth baseball players.
John H
Does this glove have the finger holes in it? I don't really know what they are called.
D
The Nokona Alpha Select Series: S300 has a closed back with a finger opening for the player's index finger.
John H
Would this glove be good for a 10 year old outfield select baseball player? He is an average sized 10 year old. If not, what glove would you suggest?
John
The Nokona Alpha Select Series: S300 may be big for a 10 year old. Based on his age, we would recommend using an 11.50'' or an 11.75''. The Nokona Alpha Select Series: S200 11.50'' would be a good choice. For more information on sizing please visit our Glove Coach at http://www.justballgloves.com/glove-coach/
Tori
I'm 15. I'm looking for a new glove. What does it mean "Youth"? I want a 12.50 glove.
grod
The Nokona Alpha Select Series: S300 will be made for a youth player. The finger stalls and wrist opening will be skinnier and tighter than an Adult outfield model.
Brandon
I know that the Nokona's run shorter than other manufacturers. Does this glove come closer to a 12" or an 11.5"?
J
The Nokona Alpha Select Series (S300) varies on size, but it is close to a 12.25".
Jason
Is the leather strong enough to be used in an adult baseball league?
Over 50 player
The leather on the Nokona Alpha Select Series (S300) would be strong enough for an adult league, however it is a youth model. Youth models are intended for younger players and have narrower finger stalls and a smaller hand opening.
Damon
What series of Nokona youth gloves would an 11 year old second baseman/outfielder use?
steve
The Nokona Alpha Select Series (S300) and the Nokona Alpha Select Series (S200) would be great gloves for outfield use. However, the S200 may fit the player's hands better.
Chinyere
Is this a 12.50 inch glove?
a
The Nokona Alpha Select Series (S300) is going to be a 12- 12.50 inch model. These gloves are hand made and can vary between those two sizes.
Frankie
If I ordered this can you make sure I get the 12.50 inch?
corbi_h
The Nokona Alpha Select Series (S300) does vary from a 12-12.50. Unfortunately, there is no way for us to ensure what size you would receive.
Frankie
My son is 11 years old and will be turning 12 in November. He is average sized. We live overseas and our season starts in November. He plays 2nd base and pitcher. He currently has a Mizuno Classic Future Pro 11.25 inch which is now too small for him. His brother's Mizuno Prospect 11.5 inch also seems a little small. We're thinking of upgrading to Nakona. Between the Alpha Select S200 and the S300 which would work best for him?
Mike
When you say that the gloves seem small, are you referring to the inside fit where his hand goes or the pocket size? Our recommendation would vary based on that. If his hand is not fitting inside, we would probably recommend going with a more adult style glove rather than the Alpha Select Series models. If just the pocket is too small, I would go with the Nokona Alpha Select Plus Series (S7).
Patrick
My son is 10 with a small frame and he plays outfield. Is this a good glove for him?
baseball mom
Typically, for a 10 year old outfielder, I would recommend an 11.50 inch pattern. The 2016 Nokona Alpha Select Plus Series Baseball Glove: S-7 features a 12.25 +/- inch pattern so this glove would be quite large for your player.
John
I really want this glove in a 12.5. Can I order several, keep the biggest, and return the rest?
DBLB2273
You can order multiple gloves of the 2016 Nokona Alpha Select Plus Series Baseball Glove (S-7) and return any unwanted ones but there is no guarantee that they will not be the same or that any will be exactly 12.5 inches.
Patrick
What is a better glove: this or the X2 Elite 1200?
mike
For an adult player, I would recommend the X2 Elite model over this 2016 Nokona Alpha Select Plus Series Baseball Glove (S-7). This Nokona Alpha Select is going to be intended for use by a Youth/Adolescent player.
Ben
Can you use this size for 12u softball? Our daughter likes using baseball gloves vs softball gloves due to the tighter fit.
jnalysaght
Typically, for a 12U softball outfielder, I would recommend using an 11.50 inch fastpitch softball glove. The 2016 Nokona Alpha Select Plus Series Baseball Glove: S-7 is going to feature a 12.25 +/- inch pattern so it may be a tad large for your player. Additionally, typically, female fastpitch gloves will offer a more snug fit in comparison to a baseball glove as they feature a smaller wrist opening and tighter finger stalls.
John P.
My son is 10 and is 5'2" weights 105 pounds. He pitches and is utility infielder and some outfield. Would the S-7 be to large?
Calman
I think that the 2016 Nokona Alpha Select Plus Series Baseball Glove (S-7) would be a great option for your son to use for years. Gloves are very personal through and if he got it and was too big or not comfortable he could go ahead and send it back for a full refund or exchange under our 100 day guarantee.
Carter
Is this glove for adults?
Sam
The 2016 Nokona Alpha Select Plus Series Baseball Glove: S7 features an intermediate fit and is designed for young adult players looking for a more snug fit.
Jason
What would you recommend for a 13 y o pitcher and 3rd baseman?
kachey
I would recommend the Nokona Alpha Select Series Baseball Glove (S-222) for a 13 year old third baseman and pitcher.
Carter
My son is 11 and left handed. He plays outfield, first base and pitches (5'-0'' and 90 lbs). He is currently using the Wilson 800 series. I like the Nokona for outfield. What series/size would you suggest? Are these gloves broken-in / ready to use?
Lefty
For an 11 year old playing outfield, this Nokona Alpha Select Plus Series Baseball Glove (S7) should function pretty well. It has the approximate 12.25" length on it which will provide the necessary coverage for the outfield (and the intermediate fitting for his hand). This mitt does come with pretty soft leather and I do not think too much time will be needed to get it game-ready.
Ben
My son is 14 years old plays center field. Looking for a glove?
zmo
I would suggest taking a look at a little bit bigger glove. Maybe a 12.75 or 12.50. The Nokona Alpha Select Plus Series Baseball Glove: S7 is going to be a little small in the future.
Max
Can I use mink oil or saddle soap to condition the glove?
TZ
For this Nokona Alpha Select Plus Series Baseball Glove (S-7T), I would recommend using glove specific oil to condition the mitt just to be safe (however, if you have used one of those products in the past and it has worked fine to condition the glove, it would be fine to use that product again).
Ben
How do I best break in the new glove?
TZ

JP
My son is 14 and plays all around the field - CF, SS, pitcher. Would this be a good glove?
Drew
The Nokona Alpha Select Plus Series Baseball Glove: S-7T is a great option for both CF and pitcher as it features a 12.25 +/- inch pattern with a six finger trap web. For SS this glove would not be as ideal as most SS will utilize a glove with a pattern design from 11.25-11.75 inches. Unfortunately, there would not be one glove that would be a universal fit for OF, middle infield and pitcher.
Cameron
My son is 12 years old and play left field. Would this be a good glove for him?
Cynthia
I think this would be a very good option for your player. The Nokona Alpha Select Plus Series Baseball Glove: S-7T is constructed from top-of-the-line leathers, Stampede and Buffalo for ideal structure, weight, and very easy break-in. This Nokona Select Plus Series: S-7 features an Approximate 12.25" Pattern, Six Finger Trap Web, and offers a snug fit that will work well for your player at 12 years old.
Dan
Would this glove be too small for my 15 year old son. He plays high school ball.
Grant
The Nokona Alpha Select Plus Series Baseball Glove: S-7T features an Intermediate Fit (Snug Fit Designed for Young Adult Players) so that really depends on your sons hand size. We do have a 100 day guarantee so you could try it out risk free.
Carter
Is the outside leather of the glove black leather or dark brown leather? Can't tell on the photos.
RGo
The Nokona Alpha Select Plus Series Baseball Glove: S-7T will feature a darker brown leather hue on the glove.
Cameron
Would this glove work for my son that is 11, soon to be 12, 75 pounds (on the smaller side)? He plays centerfield and pitches on a travel team, so using his glove year round. His glove now is 11.25.
Kim
The Nokona Alpha Select Plus Series Baseball Glove: S-7T would work really well for your 12 year old son that is playing center field and pitching for all year round play
Max
My son is starting his first year of high school baseball. I would like to purchase him a quality glove that he could hopefully use throughout most, if not all, of his high school baseball play the next four seasons. However, he is 14, and the smallest player on the team. Although the information on your page says this glove is for the younger adult, all the answers here seem to indicate this glove is for younger kids. He wears size "small adult" batting gloves.
Roger Miller
The Nokona Alpha Select Plus Series Baseball Glove: S-7T features an intermediate fit meaning the glove will fit better on a smaller hand. If seeking something that will allow a player to get through all of high school one may want to consider a model with an adult fitting to it. Such an option would be the Nokona Buckaroo Special Series: UT-1225C.
Cameron
Is the Alpha Select Plus series an adult glove? My son is 14 and plans on playing high school ball. Will this glove be a good glove for high school as an infielder?
Ray Franke
The Nokona Alpha Select Plus Series Baseball Glove: S-7T will be an intermediate fit, which is designed for young adults. The Nokona Alpha Select Plus Series Baseball Glove: S-7T would be a great option for a young high school infielder.
Max
I'm considering buying this for a Christmas gift. He is 18 almost 19 and outfield and some infield positions (short stop or second or third base). His hands aren't very small in regular leather working gloves he needs a large or XL. I was wondering if this glove would work for him?
Samantha
Since the Nokona Alpha Select Plus Series Baseball Glove: S-7T is designed with a snug hand fit, I would not recommend getting this as it would probably be to small on his hand.

About the Brand

Joe Phillips writes about his visit to Nokona. It was like sitting in at the plantation party in Gone with the Wind or maybe gazing from the grandstand at the “Field of Dreams” while the Black Sox players tried to work out their idled muscle kinks. And, I was gently reminded by the lines in that movie while I dug into a delicious plate of North Texas barbecue: “threshing crews eating at outdoor tables. It continually reminds us of what once was, like an Indian-head penny in a handful of new coins. . . You talk a good dream.” And here I was. . . graciously invited into this magical and charming “Field of Glove-Making Dreams” in former Comanche Indian land at Nocona, Texas. It was a warm August evening, basked in a golden harvest moon, while friends and the Nokona family paid its kindly southern regards to two of their own and two of America’s finest but relatively obscure glove makers, Bobby Storey and Elvin Ray “Ab” Lemons. You see, the pair had just completed fifty years of time-honored employment with Nocona Athletic Goods, the last of the all-American made ball glove company's. The occasion brought echoes of past successes and human contentment, but in Nocona today you still experience much the same American texture of yesterday and perhaps a glimpse into tomorrow as well.

The two stately gentlemen were being honored in a way that could have taken place in the same manner when they first reported for full-time work at Nokona, in 1952, or back even earlier, in 1933 when the company started making sports equipment. During a brief and informal presentation at the celebration, Nokona’s new sales manager called the two glove makers “Legends - because that’s what their ball gloves stood for, American know-how and pride taken in a best-made product.”

A man of few words but a marveled craftsman who could literally conjure a sows ear into a playable baseball mitt, Mr. Lemons got up and fondly recalled the several men he worked with through his half-century and of the training that had been passed along to him from his old bosses.

His counter part and just as talented, Bobby Storey, had filled in at just about every job at Nokona. Bobby, the son of the sporting goods founder, R.E. “Bob” Storey had most recently served as president and now chairman of the board of Nokona. Though past retirement age like Mr. Lemons, he’s now serving at one of his favorite roles, that of ball glove designer.

At a time for employment in this country when five years is considered a long tenure with the same company, Ab and Bobby are not even the first to complete a half-century journey with Nocona Athletics. The now deceased Jewell Brickey, hit that milestone in 1993, after joining the company during World War II. That’s the kind of devotion that employees forge into this glove-making outfit. A devoted and sustained tenure here is not rare. Last year the company advertising, displayed along with Storey and Lemons, three other employees who had garnered 40 years with Nokona, Warren Clary, Bud Meekins, and Melvin Weedin.“

I don’t have to tell you that the one constant through all the years has been baseball”, wrote W.P. Kinsella. And the most constant of ball glove makers has been Nokona, and the men and women there who keep alive the tradition of American craftsmanship of ball glove making. The spirit of glove-making is still alive and well in Nocona, Texas.
