Description

Mizuno's top craftsmen have over 65 years of combined glove making experience that translates into high quality ball gloves for players of all ages. The new Samurai Series catcher's mitts are no different. Made from full grain oil-treated leather, these mitts are soft to the touch and easy to break in. That doesn't mean that they sacrifice any durability or hand protection. Featuring patent pending thumb protection technology, these mitts are easy to close while still providing that extra protection on the inside of your hand. The Samurai Series mitts also feature Mizuno's ParaShock Palm Pad that absorbs sting even after repeated use. ParaShock provides less rebound, more protection, and an overall sense of comfort for catcher's. These mitts feature a conventional open back and a two-piece closed web to give players fantastic control behind the plate. The GXC95Y is a transitional-sized catcher's mitt that is the ideal stepping stone from a youth mitt to an adult one. Mizuno: Never Settle! Free Shipping!

Pros: I bought this glove to replace my nine year old son's 32" Mizuno and he is very pleased with it. The larger pocket makes it easier to catch the ball yet the glove is still light enough for him to handle well. Good quality leather and short break-in time after using Nokona glove treatment.

Cons: None.

Pros: Excellent material & construction. Soft to start, but broke in very quickly. By FAR the BEST glove for the price range, if not better than quite a few much more expensive catchers mitt. Not much of a mizuno fan before this glove.

Cons: none.

Pros: Bought this glove for my nine year old son. He had a Mizuno GXC 105 but we were looking for a slightly larger mitt. After trying several gloves, we decided on this one. It has a large pocket, good padding, and quality leather. After several weeks, it is now broken in and my son is catching great with it!

Cons: None

this mitt is it 33dad parent

Pros: my 11u son plays 2nd base has never caught but has wanted too. This fall he got an opportunity to and his first outing lasted only a few pitches due to a jambed thumb. I saw the mizuno and the extra padding and thumb protection so ordered it.since recieving the glove he has been behind the plate several more times. even caught the championship game this past weekend and threw out his first kid stealing second. it was easy to break in, feels and looks great.

Cons: none yet only used one fall season

Is it safe to use hot glove heat treatment on this glove? CJ
We don't recommend using any heat treatment on a glove. The heat can damage the leather and make it less durable. Our Glove Care Kit is designed to help you break in your glove the correct way and can be found here, http://www.justballgloves.com/product/justballgloves-com-glove-care-kit/9906/?pa_source=homead1&pa_medium=banner&pa_campaign=20120605.

Does this glove come game ready...If not, how stiff is the glove? Teeeebone
The Mizuno Samurai Series: GXC95Y is a pretty soft mitt, but may but may not be 100% game ready from day one. It should be close to that after 3 or 4 sessions of catch.
Tyler
Is this 33" Catcher's Mitt OK for a 9/10 Year old? He currently uses the 32" Mizuno GXC102 and seems to have out grown this model. Is it better to go with a 32.5" or is it OK to jump to a 33"? Teeeebone
A 33" youth catcher's mitt like the Mizuno Samurai Series: GXC95Y is typically too big for a 9 or 10 year old and better suited for a 12 or 13 year old player. However, if he has outgrown his 32" mitt and you're looking for something he can grow into and use for several more years, this mitt would be a great option.
Tyler
This is a youth baseball catchers mitt not softball correct? How long has this model been available? Pd
The Mizuno Samurai Series: GXC95Y is a youth baseball catcher's mitt. All fastpitch softball catcher's mitts will say "fastpitch" in the model name. This mitt was released this past summer.
Tyler
Does this mitt have the same leather as the 150 dollar pro model? Joel
No, it is not the same leather. This model is designed for youth players and will have a softer, lighter feel than the Pro Model.
Zach
My son is 8. He has the Mizuno GXC104 catchers mitt. It's getting small, so I'm trying to find the next step up. I like the Mizuno GXC95Y Mitt, but is it too large. I've looked at the Mizuno GXC105 and it doesn't seem any larger than the Mizuno GXC104. Derek
Since we only have the 33" in the Mizuno Samurai Series: GXC95Y Youth Catcher's Mitt. I would get it knowing that he will eventually grow into.
Chad M.
Would this glove fit a 13 year old boy catcher? OF
Based on your age, we normally recommend that someone who is 13 use an adult glove. The Mizuno Samurai Series: GXC95Y Youth Catcher's Mitt is a youth glove and may not be best suited for a 13 year old. In an adult glove, the best size would be a 32''. Do you send it to Brazil? César
We currently are only able to ship to the United States. People needing to ship internationally would need to ship to a friend or freight forwarding service within the United States and cover shipping from that location to their final destination.
Patrick
My son is 15 and about 5'11, would this glove be ok to use? Would a 33.5 be more appropriate given his size? FC
For a 15 year old the size chart it recommends a 33 inch patter. But that can always fluctuate depending on the player. Even though the Mizuno Samurai Series (GXC95Y Youth Catcher's Mitt) is a 33.50, your son could still use it.
Frankie
My son just turned 10 and is smaller in size but has been one of the top pitchers in his league. He is interested in catching next season. Would this glove be too big, or what catcher's gear and glove would you recommend? I am looking at the Mizuno Samurai youth catcher set as well. wlee
The Mizuno Samurai Series (GXC95Y) Youth Catcher's Mitt would be a great option for your player. It will fit well and will have good padding and support for a youth hand. That Samurai line is a nice set for youth catchers.
Patrick
Does this glove have a deeper pocket than the Prospect? It has been suggested that my 11 year old get a bigger glove. My thoughts are that he's just not receiving the ball properly into the pocket (user error) however I have noticed that the 32.5" Prospect does seem to have a shallow pocket. I'm assuming this is to aid the player in getting the ball put faster. I guess I am asking would this glove be a good step up? WAM'sMom
The Mizuno Samurai Series: GXC95Y Youth Catcher's Mitt would be a good step up from the Mizuno Prospect Series: GXC105 Youth Catcher's Mitt. This glove will feature a deeper pocket and should help with any receiving issues he is currently facing.
Cameron
Would this glove be recommended for a high school catcher? riggs
The Mizuno Samurai Series: GXC95Y Youth Catcher's Mitt is considered a youth model and it is typically best suited for players around the age of 12 and younger. It could be used by a high school player looking for a tighter fit, but it is not a common mitt used in high school.
