Pros: Best thing about this glove is that it's ready to play out of the box, easy break-in, fits smaller hands, light weight for younger girls, has good protection, and looks nice
Cons: States it's 32.5 but has smaller pocket than the 32 and 31.5 gloves I also tried. It will work now because my daughter uses an 11inch ball, but might find it harder with a 12 inch?

Pros: I purchased the glove to catch my daughter who is 10 years old. This was my first catcher's mitt purchase. I was a bit hesitant as this it is a "youth" sized glove...and my fielder's glove is on the larger size (13in). I do have very small hands; in fact my 10 year hands are the same size and mine. Ok – I decided to take a gamble – and I love this glove! It broke in very easy. I used it the day it arrived. I do stick my first finger out the hole on the backside of the mitt – but have been very impressed with the design of this glove as my fingers are nowhere near the pocket of the glove. I do keep a 12 inch softball inside the glove at all times when I am not using it. I have used it to catch both 11in and 12 in softballs with no issues. Excellent glove for the money.
Cons: If you have really large hands, this is probably not the glove for you. Not very forgiving if you don't catch the ball in the pocket.

Pros: I LOVE this glove! I catch for my little leauge team and my coach has this glove. I used his once because i simply don't like mine, AMAZING! nobody had ever used it and it was fine. I play with a 12 inch and it works great. Getting it for meyself cause im that in love! caught a perfect game that night.
Cons: ABSOLUTLEY NONE!:)
MIke
Pros: Already Broke in.
Cons: Small Hand only. Not good for a 12' Ball

Pros: Was already broke in when we got it and has been an amazing glove for my 10 year old catcher. This is her first catcher's mitt and she absolutely loves it. She does not even wear an extra glove under it when catching. It looks big, but fits her very well. We do put an elastic wrap around it with a 12 in wiffle ball when not using. We never had to use any type of product on it when we got it, took it out of package and it was ready to use. We love all the mizuno brand mitts!!! My daughter catches with an 11 inch ball and a 12 inch ball and it work great for both.
Cons:
Carlie's Paw Paw
Pros: Great glove for my 11 yr. old granddaughter. Started using it the same day we received it. Thanks Mizuno Will buy their product again.
Cons: None
Bob
Pros: Nice MIT for price, almost broke when you get it....10 yr old loves it....
Cons:
Joe
Pros: Ready to use, soft mitt.
Cons: Does not have the same pocket size as other 32.5 gloves. Very misleading in the item description. Will not work well for 12" softball.
walt
Pros: Ready to play out of box.
Cons: Cheap and flimsy, I don't think it would ever hold up.
MS BLAST
Pros: My daughter is 9 and this is her first mitt. It was very easy to break in. She is able to catch a 11 and 12 inch ball with the mitt.
Cons: None so far
Coach
Pros: Light weight. Hinged heel makes it easy to close.
Cons: I have four or five Mizuno mitts for my catchers. I got this one for a young catcher to help at pitching lessons. Pocket seems irregular and doesn't hold the ball like other Mizuno catcher's mitts. Maybe this one was just defective.
allen
Pros: Bought this glove because it was flexible enough for my 8 year old daughter to control right away.
Cons: Catchers thumb was a problem through out her first season.
allen
Pros: I bought it because it was in 'game ready condition' and would not be too hard of a glove for her to close around the ball.
Cons: My daughter just finished her first 8u softball using this glove. This glove is too flexible along the thumb. The whole season she fought catchers thumb (a light sprain in her thumb knuckle.) We adjusted her technique to better protect her hand, which helped. During playoffs we had to pull her out of catcher as she was crying over the pain in her thumb. Now she doesn't want to play catcher anymore. Get a different glove.
Brad
Pros: Nice Soft Leather. Easy to break in fast. I ordered this glove on Saturday and it was delivered on Monday! Awesome!
Cons: Nice glove. Perfect for my 11 year old daughter.

Pros: Good price, easy breakin, holds pocket, some 11-12 year old girls on team were asked to evaluate it, and they liked it.
Cons: none yet
Malia
Pros: The glove was game ready, right out of the box. My first catcher's mitt for my 9 year old softball player. She loves the mitt.
Cons: None, except for she doesn't want to ever stop playing catch.
softball dad
Pros: I bought this glove for my 10 year old grand daughter she is small for her age. This glove fit well and was easy to break in. She catches a lot of games.
Cons: The glove breaks down to fast. I have bought 2 this year and ready for a third.
Awesome glove! mom of 10u fastpitch parent
Pros: My 10 year old just started catching for her fastpitch team and loves this glove! Didn't take long to break in!
Cons: nothing bad!
sbdad
Pros: Ready to go out of the box, however some pocket forming won't hurt. The only true affordable catchers glove on the market. My 10 year old daughter has been using the left hand throw. Also note that it is difficult to find a good left hand throw option. With a lot of use and time in the dirt pocket will stretch. I bought a second as a back up.
Cons: No cons.
32.5 prospect t parent
Pros: Game ready
Cons: Lasted less then 2 months. 4 games and 20 practice later lacing breaks internally and folds in half just above daughters fingers had to borrow a glove to finish game
Great glove. Scott Nelson parent
Pros: I have a house full of catchers, this is the best club on the market for a youth softball player. Durable and easy to break in, worth every penny. My daughter plays U10 travel softball and this glove fits her hand perfectly.
Cons: none
Way to small EF parent
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Glove is way to small for anyone over the age of 8. Good for T-bar or maybe low level rec ball.
jmrodri
Pros: My daughter loves it. It's easy for her to manage and has improved her catching skills vs using a regular glove.
Cons: Smaller than I expected, definitely for small hands.
JEM
Pros: The glove was game ready and easy to work with. Before my grand daughter received this glove her hand was sore after each game of hard pitching. She loved it after her first of using it, no sore hand.
Cons: Haven"t found none at this time.
RTR
Pros: Soft and very easy for a young catcher with small hands to close.
Cons: The lacing that holds the thumb in place get loose very fast and never stay tight no matter how much you adjust and tighten. Daughter ended up breaking her thumb while catching when the thumb shifted towards the pocket during a game. Not worth saving a few dollars over better quality gloves for that result! Be cautious if you purchase.
Decent Glove Clint parent
Pros: Decent glove for a young player learning to catch with a 11" softball. Easy break-in, power close really helps. Storing with a ball in the pocket and wrapped helps form the pocket.
Cons: Did not transition well to a 12" ball. Daughter really struggles to get the ball to stay in the glove. The 12" ball is just to large for the pocket. Tried several different things and nothing helped.
Questions and Answers
Have a question about the Mizuno Prospect Youth Fastpitch Softball Catcher's Mitt: GXS101? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.
After a recent Pony League tournament, I watched the son of a MLB catcher use a fastpitch catcher's mitt instead of a traditional baseball catcher's mitt. The glove appeared a lot easier to use and control. Given that pitchers will max out in the mid-50s, I am considering the same for my 9-year-old son's fall team. What do you think? Are you familiar with other baseball catcher's using a softball catcher's glove? Can you think of pros and cons? Thanks! Tucker
Is this glove for softball or baseball? bobby1234

Which would be better for 11/12 girls fastpitch- Mizuno GXS101 or Rawlings Champion 32" Fred
My daughter is moving to 12U and a 12" ball this year. I haven't found one in stock at a sports store to try out and am concerned about 2 things. Is the 32.5" pocket big enough to be a little forgiving with a 12" ball and is the padding enough since it says youth (her pitcher is throwing close to 50 now and getting faster). She loves her Mizuno 12.5" infield mitt but has to use a palm pad for catching. Rooty
We're looking for a catchers mitt. My daughter borrowed one from a teammate, the GSC105D, and really liked it. Is this glove a good comparison to that one? Thanks M

I ordered this glove and just received it for my 11 year old playing 12U travel. It seems small to me with a 12 inch ball in it. She will be catching pitchers that throw up to 60 mph. She is 5 foot tall and around 90 pounds. Is this glove big enough for her in 12U? Gary
My daughter plays senior softball and she is 13. Is this a good size glove for her? Sheila

My daughter just moved up to a 12 in ball and uses the Mizuno Prospect 32.5 catchers glove, but the pocket just can't handle the bigger ball. I can't find this glove in a bigger size. Suggestions on a glove that is out of the box game ready for smaller hands? JLM08
