Description

Mizuno has once again made it their priority to develop the games most exclusive line of youth baseball gloves. One of those series is the Prospect Series. Mizuno's patented PowerClose technology is unmatched in the industry. Others may try to duplicate, but no technology closes as easily. Multiple technologies like Pocket2, PowerClose, PowerLock, V-Flex, Side Bar, and SureFit Foam, afford the youth player the best options to make catching easy. The V-Flex helps initiate easy closure while the PowerClose makes it easier for younger players to close the glove and catch the ball. The Parashock palm pad with butter soft and SureFit Foam lining in select Prospect Series models reduce shock to minimize "sting" while delivering superior feel and comfort. Above all, the PowerClose design MAKES CATCHING EASY! Make your Mark: Choose Mizuno! Free Shipping.

Pros: Light weight and flexible.

Cons: Love this glove except for one thing...the strap on the back of the glove used to tighten the glove on the wrist will not stay in place and dangles around.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Mizuno Prospect Series: GPP1075Y1 Youth? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

My son is 7 years old and is currently using a Mizuno 10.50" glove, but am wondering what size you would recommend for a 7-8 year old? Would this Mizuno Prospect glove be good for him to use? Jamel
For a player between the ages of 7-8 years old, I would recommend using a 10-10.75" glove. The Mizuno Prospect Series (GPP1075Y1) is a glove that fits well with smaller hands of youth players. Since your son is currently using a 10.50" glove and you are looking for a glove that he could use for the next year or two, this 10.75" Mizuno Prospect Series glove will be a good choice.

My son will be 8 on June 4th. He is 4' 8" tall and weighs 90 lbs. He uses a power close 10.5 now and works well but looks small on him. Any suggestions or should we stay with this one? PB
That will be a matter of preference. The Mizuno Prospect Series (GPP1075Y1) features a 10.75" pattern, but if he would feel more comfortable sizing up to a larger size, that is something to take into consideration as well. Going with a larger size is also something he can grow into as well. For more information on sizing, you can check out our Glove Coach: http://www.justballgloves.com/glove-coach/

What is a good size glove for an 8-9 year old that primarily plays infield? kdcarr
A 10.75 inch model like the Mizuno Prospect Series (GPP1075Y1) or an 11 inch size like the Mizuno Prospect Series (GPL1100Y1) would work great for that age and those positions.
Patrick
Will this work for softball as well? I am not finding a softball glove made by Mizuno in this size. Not sure if it matters since the ball is smaller for baseball. ajm
I would not recommend using the Mizuno Prospect Series: GPP1075Y1 for softball as it is a youth baseball glove. I anticipate it being much too small for a softball.

What would be a good size glove for my son playing travel ball 6U? steven16
Typically, for a player in 6U, I would recommend a youth glove around a 10.00 inch pattern. The Mizuno Prospect Series: GPP1075Y1 Youth features a 10.75 inch pattern so it may be a tad large and a glove that your player would grow in to.

The toughest part for my 7yr old playing travel is squeezing the glove closed. I've heard this Mizuno glove is built with that in mind specifically. Is that true? Trashcan3513
The Mizuno Prospect Series: GPP1075Y1 Youth will feature the patented PowerClose technology and V-Flex notch to help facilitate easier closing of the glove.
Cameron
Can you use glove oil on these gloves? The leather seems softer than other gloves. Scott
The Mizuno Prospect Series: GPP1075Y1 Youth come very broken in and game ready, so you probably won't need to break it in much using oil. However, if you wanted to, you could use glove oil on it.
