After a recent Pony League tournament, I watched the son of a MLB catcher use a fastpitch catcher's mitt instead of a traditional baseball catcher's mitt. The glove appeared a lot easier to use and control. Given that pitchers will max out in the mid-50s, I am considering the same for my 9-year-old son's fall team. What do you think? Are you familiar with other baseball catcher's using a softball catcher's glove? Can you think of pros and cons? Thanks! Tucker

My daughter is moving to 12U and a 12" ball this year. I haven't found one in stock at a sports store to try out and am concerned about 2 things. Is the 32.5" pocket big enough to be a little forgiving with a 12" ball and is the padding enough since it says youth (her pitcher is throwing close to 50 now and getting faster). She loves her Mizuno 12.5" infield mitt but has to use a palm pad for catching. Rooty
