Description

Akadema is the most exciting baseball and softball company in the world. Their increasing market share can be attributed to their innovative quality and professionally designed product line. Focusing on the quality, feel and small details has lifted Akadema to the next level. With a goal to provide products for all ball players, Akadema has created the new Prodigy Youth Series. Constructed from U.S. Steerhide throughout the pocket and webbing, the Prodigy Series provides ideal toughness and padding. On the back of the glove, this series features the exclusive AkademaLyte leather that decreases the overall weight. This not only allows these gloves to be more easily playable, it also significantly decreases the break-in time to the point where these gloves are virtually game-ready out of the box. With the younger player in mind, Akadema slightly narrowed the finger stalls on these gloves to provide a more snug fit. Akadema: Bring Your "A Game"!

Warranty

Akadema gloves will come with a manufacturer’s warranty of nine (9) months from the purchase date. This warranty will cover ripping and tears of the leather of the glove. It will not include ripped laces -or- scuffing of the glove’s leather, binding or welting. If you feel that a warranty issue has arisen with your Akadema glove that was purchased from JustGloves and it has been 9 months or less since the purchase, please contact the Glove Experts from JustGloves. The Glove Experts are knowledgeable of the warranty processes and can help you get set up with directions for doing a warranty replacement with Akadema.

Pros: Got this glove when my son was 11. He's a pitcher, but used it for 2nd base and center field. It took us about 4 months to break this glove in. Great quality leather, but takes a long time to break in. Would recommend, but keep in mind it takes a while to break in.

Cons: Divider between pinky and 4th finger starting to wear a hole. Thought this was odd, but can't send back due to over 1 year in use.

Pros: Leather is soft, very easy to break in. Top notch glove for the price. My 7 year old should be using this glove until his hand outgrows the finger holes.

Cons: Akadema Logo on the thumb was not solid had lots of flaking.

Pros: The glove seems to be constructed well with quality components on the outside. How it holds up and breaks-in is TBD. Only have had it a few days. Compared to other youth models it seems to be middle of the road quality.

Cons: Inside materials seem to be lesser quality and synthetic. subjective con for me is the country of origin. Disappointed the glove was made in China, which also suggests the mark-up must my huge.

Pros: Glove is constructed using quality components on the exterior. Lesser quality synthetic components are used on the inside. This glove is a decent middle-of-the-road quality glove.

Cons: Made in China, so the markup must be significant.

Pros: Easy to break in, fit perfect for a 9 year old. Leather is soft.

Cons: He has played with this glove 1 year and it is breaking down already. Leather is super soft for break in but longevity is questionable. It is already time for a new glove.

Pros: I really love this glove. Was looking to find that sweet spot between my son's entry level $35 Rawlings 10" Savage and a high end $200 Nokona/Rawlings/Wilson/Mizuno mitt. To me this glove nails it for just under $100. If your son or daughter is like mine they are still playing all over the field and this glove is the perfect utility glove. My son plays literally every position between his AAA house team and his 9U travel team and this glove has never let him down. I highly recommend it to those looking for a quality utility glove at a very reasonable price.

Cons: It's hard to come up with a con for this glove. I supposed it took a bit to break it in but that is to be expected when stepping up to a higher quality mitt. My only real grievance, and this is nitpicking, is that the some of the laces are excessively long and/or not tied very well. Again very minor and easily corrected. Certainly not a reason to shy away from this mitt.

Akadema 11U Coach

Pros: Great glove, excellent quality leather. This is my son's 3rd season with this glove and it is still in great shape. It takes a little while to break this glove in but that is expected with good leather. Would buy it again.

Cons: None to date

Great Quality glove Ryan coach

Pros: Good, stiff leather. Looks great.

Cons: none so far, this glove is going to take time to break in. Do not expect it to be game ready anytime soon, this is due to the quality of the leather.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Akadema Prodigy 11.5" Youth Baseball Glove: ATM92-12? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

Is this a baseball or softball glove? Kat
This glove is more designed to be used as a baseball glove. However, someone could certainly use it in either baseball or softball if they wanted to.
Jennifer
Is this glove made in the U.S. or overseas? Steve
The Akadema Prodigy Series is made in China.
Kara
I have a 11 year old plays all positions. Is the 11 1/2" a good size or should I look for a smaller one? I really like this glove but I will not be able to have him try it on. He plays triple crown and on an all star team. Joey
The average size glove for an 11 year old utility player is 11.5 or 11.75 inches. The ATM92-12 should fit him well and it's definitely a great glove.
Tyler
Can this glove be used for youth softball? Akadema said it could be. My girl turns 9 this year and I have been looking at Glovesmith, Worth, Miken, and Akadema gloves. Any advice? randy45
The Akadema Prodigy Series: ATM92-12 Youth is designed with baseball in mind, but yes, it can be used for softball. If you want a glove with a little larger pocket to handle a softball, I would recommend a female fastpitch glove. Here are all our 11.5" female fastpitch softball gloves: http://www.ballglovewarehouse.com/products/glove%20type~female%20fastpitch/size~11.50/
Tyler
I notice in the pictures that there are sunglasses. Are they included? FCLL
The Akadema Prodigy Series: ATM92-12 Youth currently comes with the sunglasses. The free gift is for a limited time only.
Katie
I have a small 11 year old son who plays 2nd base and we're looking for a glove with a shallow pocket. Does the ATM92-12 have a deep or shallow pocket? 2B BB
The Akadema Prodigy Series: ATM92-12 Youth glove has more of a shallow pocket and is made more for an infielder or pitcher.
Robert
What's the difference between this and Prodigy AOZ91-12 Youth? Also would this fit a 13 year old too? tb
The Akadema Prodigy Series: ATM92-12 Youth and the Akadema Prodigy Series: AOZ91-12 Youth use the same quality of leather material. The main difference is the Akadema Prodigy Series: AOZ91-12 Youth uses a near fingerless reptillian pattern. We recommend using an adult model for his age. The Akadema Pro Soft Series: AMV218 would be a good option.
Kara
My son plays pitcher, short, and 2nd. I'm interested in this glove but Little League rules state that a pitchers glove can not have any white on it. Would this glove come in a different color? J
The Akadema Prodigy Series ATM92-12 would be legal for a pitcher to use. It is only available in the all black with the gray lacing.
John
My son primarily plays pitcher and 3rd, but occasionally an outfield spot. He is 10, but is 5'4" and plays 55 games. Is this an appropriate glove for him? MJ
The Akadema Prodigy Series: ATM92-12 Youth is a great choice for his age and positions. It has a quick break-in and will be durable.
Kara
Are the sunglasses youth size, or for adults? Doug
The sunglasses that come with the Akadema Prodigy Series: ATM92-12 are adult sunglasses.
Kara
I have a 12 year old 3rd baseman and pitcher. He is decent size at about 5'5". Would this glove still be appropriate for his hand size? Could an adult with an average or small hand still use this glove? CT
The Akadema Prodigy Series (ATM92-12) Youth is meant for younger players. It has a smaller hand opening and finger stalls. He is at the age where he should be transition to adult model gloves soon. This would not fit an adult hand.
Damon
I'm looking for a glove for my 9 1/2 year old. He throws lefty and plays mostly infield. I would like something that he won't outgrow for a couple of seasons. Is this glove in the 11.50 inch pattern the way to go? doug
The Akadema Prodigy Series (ATM92-12) Youth glove in the 11.50 inch pattern is quite a bit larger than the 11.00 inch model our glove coach recommends for a player of his size. He could also try another glove in the 11.25 inch pattern such as the Akadema Prodigy Series (AOZ91-12) Youth model.
Joe
How does the Akadema Prodigy compare in quality to the Rawlings GG Gamer? Eric
The Akadema Prodigy Series (ATM92-12) would compare similarly to the gloves in the Rawlings GG Gamer series.
Patrick
What is the best way to soften the glove? Lp
There is a good video on line that describes good methods for breaking in gloves like the Akadema Prodigy Series (ATM92-12). While it will be fairly soft coming to you, it may help to use some of the techniques seen in the video on this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tEYKRT1SuRU .
Patrick
I am looking at the Akadema ATM-92 and the AOZ-91 for my 10 year old son. He plays middle infield and pitches for his travel team. I am looking for a glove that he could use for a couple of seasons. What would you recommend? Just a Dad
Both the Akadema Prodigy Series (ATM92-12) and the Akadema Prodigy Series (AOZ91-12) would be nice options. The longer 11.5 inch size of the ATM92-12 may be able to last him a bit longer and be a more appropriate size going forward.
Patrick
Would this glove be too large for my 8 year old son? I believe we already had an 11 inch but he lost it. Would the jump from 11 to 11.5 be too much? Molly Hays
The Akadema Prodigy 11.5" Youth Baseball Glove: ATM92-12 is likely going to be too big for an 8 year old player. At that age, our general recommendation would be 10.50-11.00 inch gloves.

About the Brand

In Akadema's short but remarkable history it has become one of America's hottest baseball and softball equipment company for professional, college, high school, and serious youth players. Akadema products are still designed with the professional player in mind but competitively priced for the professional player at heart. So it's your turn to think like a professional, play like a professional, and use Akadema Professional!

Akadema now has both baseball and fastpitch softball advisory staffs that they work with closely to implement new ideas. Members of the baseball advisory staff include Hall of Famers Ozzie Smith and Gary Carter as well as Howard Johnson, Reggie Smith, Luis Polonia, Sandy Martinez and many others. Fastpitch stars that are on the advisory staff include Crystl Bustos and Julie Smith. The input on performance from the advisory staff gives Akadema something they cannot put a price on. Their advisors don’t talk about marketing or places to sell the gloves, they just care about performance.
