Pros: Quality, built to last. My 11 year old loves this mitt. he thinks the extended web let's him snag high pitches better. Baked it with some hot glove foam and then beat it with a wooden ball on a stick to get it feeling right.
Cons: none

Pros: My 10 yr old son loves this glove. He plays travel ball. Great glove for blocking and framing, also great for quick exchange of ball to hand.Gary Carter did a good job designing the glove.
Cons: This glove is stiff and takes some time to loosen up. but worth the wait. So buy it just before the off season and brake it in.

Pros: Price is good. Wrist support is good. My son has average size hands for a 9 year old and while the size of this glove seems ok, the actual catching pocket is a little small. The thick padding around the outside edge of this glove is like concrete. Not a bad glove but we have three other catchers mitts on our team that most 9-10 year olds seems to favor over this one. Maybe it will get better with age but we have been breaking it in for 3 months now.
Cons: Stiff, Stiff, Stiff!

Pros: perfect size for my 9 year old. The hand pocket is small - I can barely get 3/4s of my small sized hand in it - but it's just right for a kid. I think he can use it till he's 12 or 13. The basket looks odd how it sticks out but seems to help my son snag bad pitches. Padding is great - he can barely feel fast pitches. After the long break in, it really works with such a deep pocket. This is a great mitt for a young catcher.
Cons: Absolutely the stiffest glove I've ever seen, bar none. My son wanted to send it back after playing catch with it the first time - he couldn't even bend it, much less close it.

Questions and Answers
Have a question about the Akadema Prodigy Series: AGC98 Youth Catcher's Mitt? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.
How long does it take to break in? And will this glove fit up to a 12 year old? Joe
I bought this glove from you and have been working with it for about a week using glove oil, wrapping with ball in pocket and playing pitch and catch. I read on the reviews where it breaks in easily. For some reason this glove has not softened up and is still hard to the point that balls bounce out of it when catching much more than normal. Is there anything else I can do to soften it up and break it in? Joe
do you have this glove for right hand thowers? I cant seem to un-select left hand thrower kenny
About the Brand
In Akadema's short but remarkable history it has become one of America's hottest baseball and softball equipment company for professional, college, high school, and serious youth players. The Akadema phenomenon started with the Professional Glove Series and continues with the Reptilian®, Praying Mantis®, Pro Soft™ and Prodigy™ Glove Series as well as the Amish Wood™, Tacktion™ and Xtension® Aluminum Bat Series. Akadema's ownership attributes increasing market share to their innovative professional baseball and softball product line in contrast to mass-produced products that have little to do with quality, feel, or design to raise the level of play.
Akadema's products are manufactured for professional players but are now accessible to semi pro, college, high school, and serious youth players. Akadema products are still designed with the professional player in mind but competitively priced for the professional player at heart. So it's your turn to think like a professional, play like a professional, and use Akadema Professional!
Akadema now has both baseball and fastpitch softball advisory staffs that they work with closely to implement new ideas. Members of the baseball advisory staff include Hall of Famers Ozzie Smith and Gary Carter as well as Howard Johnson, Reggie Smith, Luis Polonia, Sandy Martinez and many others. Fastpitch stars that are on the advisory staff include Crystl Bustos and Julie Smith. The input on performance from the advisory staff gives Akadema something they cannot put a price on. Their advisors don’t talk about marketing or places to sell the gloves, they just care about performance.
