Pros: Good pocket , easy fit
Pros: Good pocket , easy fit
Pros: Already Broke in.
Pros: it conditions quickly and was ready to go after two nights. My sons response time was improved and gave him a lot more confidence in playing in the infield. He had a Louisville Slugger (Genesis Model) before and this glove quickly became his favorite glove. The inside pocket forms quickly and he was able to close his glove much better. Overall, it is a good glove for a youth player - quality is above par for price point.
Cons: Being a black glove it absorbs the suns rays, he said the glove became hot (he could still use it) and his hand sweats a lot in the heat.

For an 11 year old player who is playing all over the field, I would probably suggest a mitt with an 11.50" length on it like this 2016 Mizuno Prospect Series Youth Black/Red Glove (GPT1150Y1). However, as a travel player, I am thinking that he might be looking for a mitt that has a little higher quality leather and craftsmanship when compared to this Prospect series. One that I might suggest to view is the Mizuno MVP Prime Future Series (GMVP1150PY1 Youth) which still has a tighter fit for a younger player, but a little higher leather quality.
The 2016 Mizuno Prospect Series Youth Black/Red Glove: GPT1150Y1 has a 11.50 inch pattern and could be a little big for an 8 year old. For someone of that age, a glove that is 11.00-11.25 inches may be a better fit.
The red, palm-lining on the catching surface of this 2016 Mizuno Prospect Series Youth Black/Red Glove (GPT1150Y1) will be the Parashock Palm Pad which provides a little extra padding to protect a younger player's hand if the ball is caught in the palm. Although it is not listed by Mizuno, I believe that the pad is made of Pigskin leather.
Mizuno is known for making it their priority to develop baseball gloves for every age and skill level. The high-quality equipment that only Mizuno can produce are relied upon by athletes throughout the world. Mizuno produces superior quality equipment for serious performance, through the artful combination of technology and craftsmanship. The Prospect Series is tailor-made to fit a young ball player's hand. Multiple technologies make it easier for younger players to close the glove, catch the ball and learn to love the game. Mizuno's patented PowerClose technology places "hinges" where players would close the glove to make squeezing the ball and making the catch as simple as can be! And the Less 2 Lacing design removes the last 2 lace loops on the Tartan Flex Web to increase flexibility along the closing axis. Inside the glove, the Prospect is designed for supreme comfort. The ButterSoft Palm Liner increases durability and feel while the MZO Lining disperses sweat and moisture away from the skin. Also, Mizuno has added a ParaShock Palm Pad to reduce all shock and sting caused by impact on the catch; taking your Youth player's confidence to new heights!
The Mizuno Prospect Series Youth Black/Red Glove: GPT1150Y1 features an 11.50 Inch Pattern, Tartan Flex Web, and a snug fit designed specifically for the Youth ballplayer. Pick yours up today with Fast, Free Shipping, and a 100 Day Money-Back Guarantee - right here at JustBallGloves.com!
