Pros: The AOZ-91 easily broke-in, took about 3 days of playing catch and one treatment of glove oil. The glove leather is soft yet very durable. My son loves the feel of the glove on his hand and the high quality leather/padding appears to have eliminated any stinging. This puts many higher priced adult gloves to shame.

Cons: None after 2 months of regular use.

If I (as an adult) stick my hand in my kid's youth glove in the process of breaking it in, is that harmful if my kid later sticks his hand in there (only) to keep breaking it in? I've seen comments saying it is bad for an adult or anyone other than the user to stick their hands into a youth glove. Asked by Damian

I wouldn't say that it would be harmful to put your hand in the Akadema Prodigy Series: AOZ91-12 Youth glove, but it would alter how the glove is broken in. The problem would be that the glove would break-in forming to your hand rather than your players hand. It could also potentially stretch the wrist opening and finger stalls resulting in a more loose fit for your player. Logan Expert

My son has made travel team for this coming spring and I'm looking to get him a new glove. He is 7 years old but both he and I have wide hands with shorter fingers. Mostly he tends to play infield, pitcher and catcher. What might you suggest for shorter fingers? Asked by SamsDad

Youth model gloves such as the Akadema Prodigy Series (AOZ91-12) will account for shorter fingers for players. For his age, we would typically recommend something a bit smaller possibly in a 10.5 inch size like the Akadema Rookie Series (AJP96). Patrick Expert

I am looking for a glove for my 12 year old. He is 5'2", plays pitcher and short stop. I am guessing an 11.50" or 11.75"size, but would like some info. Asked by john michael

Based on his age and position, we suggest an 11.50" model. The Akadema Prodigy Series (AOZ91-12) Youth is an 11.25" pattern and is an acceptable glove for him to use as well. Jason Expert

Akadema is the most exciting baseball and softball company in the world. Their increasing market share can be attributed to their innovative quality and professionally designed product line. Focusing on the quality, feel and small details has lifted Akadema to the next level. With a goal to provide products for all ball players, Akadema has created the new Prodigy Youth Series. Constructed from U.S. Steerhide throughout the pocket and webbing, the Prodigy Series provides ideal toughness and padding. On the back of the glove, this series features the exclusive AkademaLyte leather that decreases the overall weight. This not only allows these gloves to be more easily playable, it also significantly decreases the break-in time to the point where these gloves are virtually game-ready out of the box. With the younger player in mind, Akadema slightly narrowed the finger stalls on these gloves to provide a more snug fit. Akadema: Bring Your "A Game"! Free Shipping!
