Description

Shoeless Joe Gloves give a player the quality, feel and style of the gloves worn by professional ball players over the last 100 years. You can choose glove models worn in the first half of century in the Golden Age Series or today`s models in the Professional Model Series (1250 MT). The Shoeless Joe gloves are individually hand-cut and sewn from Special Aged Antique Tobacco Leather Hides. Shoeless Joe gloves are then hand-rubbed with old time ingredients to soften the leather before they go through their breaking in process that leaves the glove with a beaten up and `Game Worn` look and feel, of a broken in glove. Thus each glove is unstructured giving it its own unique feature. Players can choose to play with an old time or modern day web without having to change to another model. A great play is lived only once, but your glove, you`ll keep it forever. If you end a game with a clean uniform our gloves are not for you. Shoeless Joe: When it Was Just a Game. Questions? Mark

Pros: Feels fantastic and is going to be awesome when it is fully broken in. Looks a little small but fits my had perfect.

Cons: Not as broken in as described by others. Probably more broken in out of the box then most gloves but when I compare it to my infield glove with a year on it, it is not even close to game ready.

Pros: Literally game ready, very broken in, great looking glove, very flexible. Got the glove at 1 PM. Used it at 7 PM in a game.

Cons: Deep palm/pocket, reminds me of a softball glove. Other than that, none!

Jay

Pros: None

Cons: Got the glove and it was stiff as a board. Not broken in whatsoever. Probably more of a reflection on the company than the glove itself, same experience as another glove they sent me. Literally looked like someone just threw a big splash of glove oil on it and threw it in a box for shipping. The leather does not seem to be the same quality as in the past. Big disappointment.

Tony

Pros: Looks great and leather is nice soft. Not as broken in as some reviews stated, but seems like it would be easy to break in.

Cons: The fur pad on the wrist was torn when I got it. Have to send it back and won't have the new one in time for the season to start. Also the fingers were extremely tight and difficult to get loosened up. I'll update this review when I get my replacement, but very disappointed.

Great all around glove Javier Player

Pros: I have the 12.5" Modified Trap and if you play outfield, this glove is nice. The webbing is designed to trap any catch. Multiple seasons with this glove in the outfield and I have yet to have any throw or hit escape the glove, even when I have to dive. The leather is soft and as I read complaints that the leather 'feels' cheap, its not. It is high quality leather its ready to go right out of the bag, no need to oil or to use any break in method. Game ready. And it has extra padding in the palm to reduce any sting. ShoelessJoe also has a Glove reconditioning program you can ask about. This a must for an outfielder and it will do great if you are a utility player.

Cons: Been using the glove for 3 seasons and havent found a con yet. If you are exclusively an infielder, you might want to go with a smaller glove.

Good glove Patrick Staples Parent

Pros: Stylish; quick break in; true to size; use it to play catch with my 10 year old son and baseball team

Cons: Perhaps slightly shallow "pocketability" / feel; concern web may be slightly flimsy over time for "picking up" balls. Jury is still out as it continues to break in and fit to my hand.

Great for 13 yr old son John Parent

Pros: Broken in and ready to use. My son asked me to review the glove he liked it so much. Still early in ownership but he likes it so far

Cons: None at this time.

Good outfield glove Javiair Player

Pros: Excellent glove for the outfield or for a pitcher. My glove was game ready right out of the bag and it does have a unique tobacco oil leather smell to it. The modified trap is perfect for the outfield and once the ball is in the web, it wont bounce out. Laces are good but it needs to be adjusted after moderate use. Palm padding is okay, the fit is nice, no problems with fit and fingers fit comfortably in the glove. Overall a good glove and a must for outfielders. I would buy again, but would not have it be my all in one glove.

Cons: Now for the bad.. Because there is no break in period it's going to feel "Floppy" after moderate use. But this does not affect the performance of the glove however. If you are the type of player who likes a stiff glove that retains its shape when not in use, then this is not the glove for you. If I lay this glove down, it fully closes. But again, does not affect its performance. Because of the webbing, I would not use it as an infielder glove unless I pitch. Laces can feel loose, just tightening them will solve that issue.

Great investment Baseball dad Parent

Pros: Well constructed, great look and feel. My 13 year old who has a new A2000 is already wanting one for himself.

Cons: Not quite as broken in as I expected however much more pliable than any other quality glove straight off the shelf.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Shoeless Joe Professional 12.5" Baseball Glove: 1250MT? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

What is the difference between sjmt and sjtt? jp
The webbing. The SJMT has a Modified Trapeze web and the SJTT has a different style of webbing called the Tennessee Trapeze web.
Brett
My 13 yr. old plays 3rd base, outfield, and pitches. Would the SJMT1250 be a good all-around glove to use through high school? Ed
A 12.5 inch glove would be a great size for a utility player in high school. That's the size I would want if I were playing multiple positions.
Jeff
I'm an adult with fairly large hand and need a new glove to play catch with my 12 year old little league son. Would the 12.5 model likely fit my hand? John
Yes, this glove would most likely fit your hand. This glove doe shave a bigger than usual hand stall and is meant for bigger hands.
Brett
What are the golden age gloves like compared to the professional series? Do you have any? John
The Golden Age Series were replica models designed similarly to gloves used by the pros in the 1910s, 1920s, 1930s, etc. The Professional Series are not replica gloves and are designed to be used in games or just recreationally. The Golden Age gloves are no longer in stock.
Sean
My 16 year old plays first base and pitches. He needs a size 19 cleat and a 13 or bigger fist base glove and pitching glove. bigboy
Well, there are plenty of 13 inch firstbase mitts and gloves that we sell. They come in a wide range of prices and quality. If you'd like some specific recommendations, feel free to give us a call at 1-866-321-4568. Unfortunately, we do not carry cleats.
John
I wanted to know if this glove can be used to play outfield in softball? shakobe08
Yes, this glove could be used in the outfield in softball.
Kris
I'm a senior joining a senior softball league. I play infield and some outfield. Would this glove be ok for those positions? John
I think you would be fine using this glove in a senior league softball.
Eric
Would this make a good fastpitch glove for an infielder? I see there is a deep pocket. Blowout100
The Shoeless Joe Professional Series: 1250MT is a baseball glove but it would work for someone playing infield in fastpitch softball. Here is a link to take a look at some other options that would work for infield play in fastpitch softball. http://www.justballgloves.com/products/glove%20type~female%20fastpitch/thrower~right/size~12.50/
Tom
What color does this ball glove come in? bwalk1
The Shoeless Joe 1250MT comes in the brown color as pictured on the website.
Tyler
Would this glove be good for a utility player, or better fit for just outfield? And also, is there a large difference in performance between the web patterns, such as the single bar and the modified trap? Sam
The Shoeless Joe Professional Series: 1250MT would be a good glove for utility. There is a lot of personal preference with web types and you won't see a performance difference between a single bar or modified trap. Modified trap web are preferred a lot by outfielders but can also work for infield.
Damon
Can I fit two fingers in the pinky stall? Adrian K
The Shoeless Joe Professional Series: (1250MT) incorporates four finger stalls and a stall to provide stability for the thumb. However, the pinky stall will be a little bit wider. Therefore, more than likely, depending on the size of your fingers, two fingers should be able to fit in comfortably.
Merritt
Does this glove have extra padding in the palm, and how does it compare to the Wilson A2000? ww
The Shoeless Joe Professional Series (1250MT) will not have any additional padding technology in the palm. Regarding the comparison to an A2000, the A2000 Series definitely offers a stiffer feel out of the box and are constructed from a higher quality leather. The Shoeless Joe models has a game ready feel, but are still made of good quality leather.
Mac
Where do I and how do I measure to get the 12.50" reading? spike
Fielders gloves, like the Shoeless Joe Professional Series (1250MT), and first base mitts are measured by starting at the top of the index finger of the glove, down the finger along the inside of the pocket and then out to the heel of the glove. A flexible tape measure has to be used, not a stiff ruler. Measure from the highest point on the glove (normally the index finger). Lay the tape measure across the palm of the glove, so that it folds across and into the indenture, down to the heel of the glove.
Tom
Would this be the right size for a 9 year old? spike
The Shoeless Joe Professional Series (1250MT) would be too big for a 9 year old. I would recommend using an 11.00" Youth model glove.
Tom
I am almost 6 foot 2 and have a very large hand. Would this glove fit me? a.p
The Shoeless Joe Professional Series (1250MT) is an adult style glove that fits most adult hands. It may take some breaking in to get it to form to your hand but should work well.
Patrick
I am a high school freshman that made the baseball team. Is this glove good for high school play? joe
The Shoeless Joe Professional Series: 1250MT is a good glove for a high school player that plays the OF as this glove will feature a 12.50 inch pattern.
Cameron
Does the 1250 have an adjustable pinky loop? Brutus
The Shoeless Joe Professional Series: 1250MT does not feature an adjustable pinky loop.
Cameron
How does the Shoeless Joe Reconditioning Program work? Scoonie22

The Shoeless Joe Professional Series Baseball Glove: 1250MT features around a 70-75% break-in from the manufacturer. One would still need to spend some time getting the glove game ready.
Cameron
