Description

Shoeless Joe Gloves give a player the quality, feel and style of the gloves worn by professional ball players over the last 100 years. You can choose glove models worn in the first half of century in the Golden Age Series or today`s models in the Professional Model Series. The Shoeless Joe gloves are individually hand-cut and sewn from Special Aged Antique Tobacco Leather Hides. Shoeless Joe gloves are then hand-rubbed with old time ingredients to soften the leather before they go through their breaking in process that leaves the Glove with a beaten up and `Game Worn` look and feel, of a broken in glove. Thus each glove is unstructured giving it its own unique feature. Players can choose to play with an old time or modern day web without having to change to another model. A great play is lived only once, but your glove, you`ll keep it forever. If you end a game with a clean uniform our gloves are not for you. Shoeless Joe: When it Was Just a Game. Pros: Bought this glove for my 14 yr old after his Worth glove starting stinking to high heck. Came to us greased and ready to go. Did not have to go through the whole breaking in process. Ready to go out of the box. Sweet glove, very well made and does not stink. Shoeless Joe? What a great name for a glove.

Pros: I've got guys who choose to use high end gloves; for example: Rawlings 125th Anniversary model, or/and Wilson's 1786 'game ready'. That said, I have one guy who prefers this glove over others. Personally, I was not familiar with Shoeless Joe mitts. Bottom line, the price difference does not equate to the difference in quality. Good job Joe!

Cons: You may never see it in the hand of a Gold Glover.

Pros: I have been using this glove over 1 year now and this is my best mate in the field! Recommend to all players who love the vintage look.

Cons: its quite thin and you might need to add extra pad / wear a glove with pad to reduce sting.

Graham

Pros: This glove is amazing straight out of the box! Only took a few days for it to be fully broken in. I play outfield and 1st base and I use it for both positions. It forms an amazing pocket so is great for both positions even though it is not a first base mitt. It also smells amazing and is made out of amazing materials. I for see that this mitt will last a very long time for me.

Cons: Only thing I have found so far is that the glove is for really big hands. I actually had to add in two extra holes in the wrist area for the mitt to fit tight enough so my hand wouldn't slip around. otherwise this is an amazing glove!

Glove performed well catching fly balls and grounders. Looks great, performs excellent after four months of extensive travel play. A few teammates are picking up a SJ also. Worth every penny......

Beautiful old school glove Paul E. Mitchell Other

Pros: Workmanship, fit and finish: A+. Very similar to my 50+ year old Rawlings Brooks Robinson model. I added the Just Gloves break-in, and I am glad I did. A broken-in glove out of the box is wishful thinking. It was still a bit stiff on arrival, but after a week it feels like an old friend. Interesting aroma BTW, a little strong at first, but attractive after a few days. A little weightier than my old glove, but all-in-all great feeling. Very happy.

Cons: The stitching bulges a bit inside and was uncomfortable against my pinky at first. I squashed it down gently with a clamp and it no longer presses in. There is a patch for keeping the index finger outside, which I do not do, and it too pressed on my finger at first. Some stretching with a smooth stick (a drum stick, LOL) corrected this. Pulling, stretching and rolling is part of breaking in any glove, and this is no exception. No complaints whatsoever after these minor adjustments.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Shoeless Joe Professional 12" Baseball Glove: 1200VL? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

How is the weight of the glove? How soft is the leather on the Shoeless Joe vs Louisville? I bought my daughter a Louisville Valkyre glove last season and by her summer league, the glove became very soft. Hawaii 5-O
Based on reputation and design the Shoeless Joe gloves will have a softer and lighter feel. The construction of this model includes specific ingredients to soften the leather and a special break-in during production to give it that "game-worn" look and feel.
Jeff
Is the SJV1200 a softball or baseball glove? I play softball fastpitch, 2nd base. Julio
It can be used in either fastpitch softball or baseball. There is nothing that restricts it from being used in either. It should be a good option for you.
Sean
When will the SJV1200 have right handed thrower models? DA24
We only show what we have in stock. As soon as we get the right hand thrower model back in stock, the option for the glove will be back up on our website.
Brett
Is the Shoeless Joe SJV1200 glove appropriate for slow pitch softball? Rich
If you use this glove in slow pitch softball, I would recommend using it as an infield. I think it would be a little too small to use in the outfield, but I have seen multiple slow pitch softball players use a 12 inch glove in the outfield.
Brett
Is this glove appropriate for an 11 y/o outfielder? thomoliv7
I would recommend a smaller glove for an 11 year old. Most outfield players in high school and college use a glove that is 12.00-12.50 inches. I would recommend an 11.00-11.50 for someone that is 11 years old.
Brett
Is it a good glove for third base. Is it durable? mighty mouse
This will be a durable glove for someone to use for 3rd base. It will have a little less padding than most other gloves in this price range, but that is the way that Shoeless Joe gloves are made.
Brett
Is this gloves pocket as good as the basket web? Cam
That depends on your preferrence, but this will be similar to a basket web. I wouldn't say one is better than the other.
Mark
My 10 year old son is an infielder. I am looking for the best recommendation, but I would like to buy a glove that is the right fit for him for 4 years or so. What do you recommend for a 10-13 year old? Dirt
The 1200VL is an adult model and is going to be too big for a 10-13 year old. I would look at the youth model glove in the same size.
KB
Where are the Shoeless Joe gloves made? Is this glove good for shortstops and second basemen? BTREB
Shoeless Joe gloves are made in Mexico. At 12", the Shoeless Joe Professional Series: 1200VL is larger than average for a middle infielder. However, if you prefer a larger than average glove for the infield, this would be a good option.
Tyler
I am looking for a glove for my 17 year old son who is a right handed high school pitcher. Is this the right model or what would you recommend? He is 6'3" tall with average to slightly larger than average hands. Lou
Based on his age and position we recommend a 12.00" glove like the Shoeless Joe Professional Series: 1200VL. It is slightly larger than most infield gloves, perfect for a player with larger hands.
Kara
My daughter is 14 and is playing high school fastpitch. She has mostly played outfield but is now playing SS and 2B. What gloves do you suggest to fit a smaller hand? Al
I would suggest going with either an 11.75" or 12.00" Female Fastpitch glove.
Marcus
Would this be a good outfield glove for an 8 yr old that plays every weekend? If not what is a good glove that will last and not be too hard to break in. Drummy
The Shoeless Joe Professional Series: 1200VL is a 12" model. It might be a bit too big for a 8 year old. We suggest the Shoeless Joe Professional Series: 1125CW. It would break-in rather easy and may fit a lot better.
Chad M.
Is this a softball glove? Caroline
At 12.00", the Shoeless Joe Professional Series: 1200VL would be too small for softball.
Kevin
Would the glove fit a 13 year old outfielder? brett
This would be a player preference. The Shoeless Joe Professional Series is a 12" pitcher utility model. Typically outfielders prefer 12.5" to 12.75".
Justin R.
Would the glove fit the hand of a 13 year old outfielder? brett
The Shoeless Joe Professional Series: 1200VL would be a great fit for a 13 year old outfielder.
Noah
My son will be 13/14 during the playing season. He pitches and plays shortstop. Would the 1200VL be a good fit for him? Rich
The Shoeless Joe Professional Series: 1200VL is best suited for a utility player. We recommend a 11.25" glove. The Shoeless Joe Professional Series: 1125CW would be a great option for him.
Kara
I have a son going into ninth grade. He pitches, plays third base, second base, and right field. Would this glove be a good fit? If so what size? Dmo
The Shoeless Joe Professional Series (1200VL) is an excellent glove for a utility player. The suggested glove size for a ninth grade utility player is a 12" model.
Jason
I am a 17 year old high school pitcher and prefer smaller gloves. What would be a good size to use if I plan on pitching in college? Fred Flintstone
Most college pitchers use around a 11"-12" gloves. The Shoeless Joe Professional Series (1200VL) is going to be a good option to look at for the pitcher position.
Sean
Will this glove be ideal for men's slow pitch softball 2nd base and shortstop? A previous post said this glove is too small for softball but most experts recommend 12-13" for infield in slow pitch softball. Why would it be too small? Pang
The Shoeless Joe Professional Series (1200VL) should be fine for those positions. The 12 inch design would probably be a bit small for outfield play but should be okay for middle infield.
Patrick
Would this glove be a good fit for an 18 year old utility player that could play middle infield, outfield, and pitch without having to get another glove or switch when changing positions? Jeets
The 12 inch design of the Shoeless Joe Professional Series (1200VL) is one of the most common sizes for a utility player to use and the closed web style could cover all those positions. It would be a good all around glove for those positions.
Patrick
Would this model be good for a 13 year old outfielder-3rd? AJ
The Shoeless Joe Professional Series (1200VL) is a good glove for outfield and third base. It is a game ready glove and requires very little break in time.
Allison
I am looking for an all around glove for my son. He is 15 years old and playing high school baseball. Is this glove what I am looking for? O
The 12 inch size of the Shoeless Joe Professional Series (1200VL) is commonly used for utility style play. It can work for most fielder positions.
Patrick
How long will this glove last a high school player? Dmo
With proper care (storage, oiling, frequent use, etc...), the Shoeless Joe Professional Series (1200VL) should be able to be used for multiple seasons by a high school player!
Ben
My daughter is 8 and has used a 12 inch Mizuno. Would you recommend this for her even though it is more for baseball? If not, I want a high quality 12 inch glove for her. What would you recommend. She is very comfortable with a 12 inch model at her age. Heather
The Shoeless Joe Shoeless Jane Fastpitch Series (1200FPBW) would potentially be a better fit as it is more fit for a female hand and the pocket is more designed for softball play than on the Shoeless Joe Professional Series (1200VL).
Patrick
My son is 11 and is wanting an outfielders glove for Christmas. What size would be best for him and would you recommend one of your gloves for me? Dan
A 12 inch glove like the Shoeless Joe Professional Series (1200VL) would be a good size for an outfielder's model at that age.
Patrick
What glove do you recommend for a 12-year-old second baseman/pitcher? Jaybar76
Based off the information you've provided, I would consider looking at gloves with a 11.50" web pattern. I think the Shoeless Joe Professional Series: 1200VL might be too big for him on the infield. However, the Shoeless Joe Professional Series: 1150MT would work well for second base and the modified T-Web will hide the baseball when your player is on the mound.
Dan
My son is 15 and 6'3". His hands are quite large. Will these work for him? Also, he is a right fielder and pitcher, so what size should I get? Deborah
The Shoeless Joe Professional Series Baseball Glove: 1200VL is better designed for a pitcher. If seeking a glove to use for both pitching and OF a better option would be the Shoeless Joe Professional Series: 1250TT.
Cameron
Is this an outfielders glove? Size? Used by high school player? John
The Shoeless Joe Professional Series Baseball Glove: 1200VL is a 12 inch glove that is best served for use on the mound. For an OF, one would want to use 12.50-13.00 at the high school level. A better option then to consider would be the Shoeless Joe Professional Series Baseball Glove: 1250MT.
Cameron
Where’s it manufactured? Ken
The Shoeless Joe Professional Series Baseball Glove: 1200VL is manufactured in Mexico.
Ben
What is the difference between vl and bw models? This is for my adult daughter who has a medium to large hand. Is 12 inch the smallest recommended? She plays baseball and softball. Thank you. Rand Payton
The only difference between this Shoeless Joe Professional Series Baseball Glove: 1200VL and the 1200BW is the web design. The BW has a fully closed basket, while the VL has a modified T, fully closed.
Ryan
I'm looking for a glove without any fabric liner. Is this glove all leather inside? Amy
The Shoeless Joe Professional 12" Baseball Glove: 1200VL features an all-leather construction.
Cameron
Where are Shoeless Joe Gloves made? David Y
To the best of our knowledge, the Shoeless Joe Professional 12" Baseball Glove: 1200VL is made in Mexico.
Cameron
I received this glove and the pocket leather is extremely wrinkled. Is this normal? Rich
This can be quite typical as the Shoeless Joe Professional 12" Baseball Glove: 1200VL, as the glove is hand-rubbed with old time ingredients to soften the leather before they go through the breaking in process that leaves the glove with a beaten up and game-worn look and feel, of a broken in glove.
