Would this be the correct size glove for my son-plays high school freshman ball 2nd Base? He is 14 years old, 5'5",108 lbs. I really like Rawlings gloves.
The Rawlings REVO 950 Series: 9SC112CS would make a great 2nd Base glove for your son. The Modified Trapeze Web will help him lock in those fast grounders.
My son plays with a 11.5 gold series Rawlings. He is 12 years old. Plays infield and pitches. What glove would you suggest for the years ahead? His glove is going on its 3rd season, well kept .
Based on your son's age and position(s), a 11.5 glove would actually be the recommended size. However, if you feel an 11.5 inch model is too small, an 11.75 inch glove would be a good size he can use now and grow into. I would stick with Rawlings as that is what he's been using and probably very comfortable with. A few great options are the Rawlings PRO1175DCC, Rawlings PRO1179-125, or Rawlings 9SC117CS.
How long will it take to break this glove in?
There is not a set time frame on how long it takes to break in gloves. This is a high quality leather, so it will take some time to break in. It depends on how much you use the glove. Using glove oil, and wrapping the glove will help break in the glove more easily.
Is this an Adult Glove? I went through the Glove coach and this is one of the gloves suggested for my 9 year old son.
The Glove Coach probably recommended this glove strictly on size. That being said, this glove is primarily used as middle infielder's glove for players around High School age.
How does this glove stack up compared to the pro preferred series i.e. does it have the same grade of quality and workmanship in the materials.
I think the Revo is a great choice. Nice glove, nice craftsmanship. We do offer the 100 day guarantee on all our gloves.
