Description

The Wilson A2K Series simply exudes greatness. These gloves were meticulously developed with a focus on durability and a break-in faster than you can imagine. Made from Pro Stock Select Leather, these gloves use only the top 5% of all hides Wilson purchases and were triple sorted for consistency and flawlessness. This unbelievable consistency in the leather leads to a stronger pocket and an all around higher quality glove. The A2K Series features Rolled Dual Welting where strips of Pro Stock Leather are skived thin and rolled to provide long-lasting shape. With this particular glove, Wilson has replaced some of the leather on the back of the shell with their proprietary SuperSkin material. SuperSkin further reduces the gloves break-in time, repels moisture / dirt, and is actually 2X stronger and lighter than leather. Inside, a thin, strategically cut piece of leather is placed between the palm and outer shell, providing maximum pocket stability and improving the durability where the most wear-and-tear is experienced. Its 2X Palm Construction also provides maximum shock resistance during the catch. A2K gloves showcase the time and passion that Wilson's craftsmen has put into every single glove they produce, as their master technicians spend 3X longer pounding and shaping the glove by hand before it even leaves the factory. That should be all the proof you need that the A2K from Wilson was created with unparalleled craftsmanship, and is one of the highest quality gloves a player could ever take to the diamond.

As the Game Model of Dustin Pedroia, the Wilson A2K Series: A2KRB16DP15GM offers a few extra features that you won't find in the A2K 1786. This glove includes all of the fit modifications that Dustin Pedroia requests for his own game-model glove. These specs include a smaller hand opening / tighter finger stalls for a more-snug fit, longer laces, and a low profile heel. By removing the padding typically found at the base of the pocket or "heel", Wilson is able to create a design that closes easier and minimizes the rebound created when bad-hops hit the base of the glove.

This Wilson A2K Series: A2KRB16DP15GM features an 11.50" pattern size, an I-Web (Wilson H-Web) with Double X Laces, and is the game model of MLB Star Dustin Pedroia. Wiz

Pros: My son is an outfielder but his travel coach asked him to play some 3rd this year. He immediately asked for a A2K glove. We went looking around for the best one and came up with this. He loves it. The comfort, style and look of this glove is like no other. Now when they're at practice, and the coach yells out "get your gloves" he automatically gets this one. Break-in was relatively quick (quicker than his A2000 Hanley Ramirez outfielders glove).

Cons: none

Bo

Pros: Great glove. Bought for my nephew and broke it in using Aso's method. Break in was easy and glove was formed perfectly. He was able to use in a game 3 days after getting it and was fielding sliding ground balls. The glove fits his smaller hand perfectly but the glove isn't small. It's a great middle infield glove.

Cons: Got it on sale but msrp is kind of high.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Wilson A2K Series: A2KRB16DP15GM? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

Is the heel padding on this model the same as the A2000 DP15? Or is there a little more since it's an A2K? julian
The heel pad on the 2016 Wilson A2K Series: A2KRB16DP15GM will be the same as the heel pad on the A2000 DP15 models. Dustin Pedroia prefers to have less padding in the heel of the glove, so both models will be constructed the same. The difference will be the quality of leathers used to make each glove.
Marcus
How much tighter is the wrist opening compared to a 1786 or 1787 on a scale from 1-10? Adamn
The wrist opening on the 2016 Wilson A2K Series (A2KRB16DP15GM) compared to the wrist opening on the 2016 Wilson A2000 Series (A20RB161787) and the 2016 Wilson A2000 Series (A20RB161786) is going to be smaller. On a scale of 1-10, I would say 8.
Cameron
Do A2K's require a longer break in period than an A2000? wil
The 2016 Wilson A2K Series (A2KRB16DP15GM) may require a slightly longer break-in period than an A2000 model as the A2K's have pro stock select leather - cut from top 5% of all Wilson leather hides.

Would this glove be too big for a 11 year old playing mostly infield? Young LM
The 2016 Wilson A2K Series: A2KRB16DP15GM is a 11.50 inch pattern with the Pedroia fit (smaller wrist opening and tighter finger stalls). This Pedroia feature makes this glove a great fit for someone with smaller hands and the 11.50 inch pattern is perfect for middle infielders. The Wilson A2K series features Pro Stock Leather so it may take some time for a younger player to break-in.
Cameron
Would this fit a 12 year old and would it get tight for your hand? Victor Cervantes
The 2016 Wilson A2K Series: A2KRB16DP15GM would be a great fit for a 12 year old player that is growing. The glove features the "Pedroia Fit", so it is going to be tighter than your typical adult fitting glove and larger than a youth glove.

I'm 13 years old playing mostly 3rd base. Would this glove be too small? jaggerbaseball
The 2016 Wilson A2K Series: A2KRB16DP15GM features a 11.50 inch pattern as well as the Dustin Pedroia fit - smaller hand opening, tighter finger stalls for more secure fit. Some 3B prefer a slightly larger glove such as a 11.75 inch pattern but the 11.50 model of glove would work as well.
Cameron

The main difference between the 2016 Wilson A2K Series: A2KRB16DP15GM and the 2017 Wilson A2K Dustin Pedroia 11.5" Baseball Glove: A2KRB17DP15GM is the colorway as both gloves will feature the same leather, padding and craftsmanship.

Having a tough time picking a glove . Which Wilson glove is best for my 10 year old that plays 3rd base? Willing to spend whatever. niko
I would highly recommend the 2016 Wilson A2K Series (A2KRB16DP15GM) for a 10 year old 3rd baseman.
Carter
Is it a good glove for 3rd base? shone
The 2016 Wilson A2K Series (A2KRB16DP15GM) is a great option for a third baseman.
Carter
My son both pitches and plays 3rd base. He is used to the 11.75" length. Would you recommend this smaller size, 11.50", for both positions? AllStar10
If he is used to playing with the 11.75" length and performing well, I would not necessarily recommend going with the smaller 11.50" length on this 2016 Wilson A2K Series (A2KRB16DP15GM). I think it may be a little frustrating to have less reach on the 11.50" mitt in the field. As well, the I-Webbing on this A2K is generally not the most advantageous to use on the mound as it is not the best at hiding the pitcher's throwing hand when gripping pitches.
Ben
Is this glove going to last 6 or 7 years? Devin
The 2016 Wilson A2K Series: A2KRB16DP15GM is a high quality glove that should last a player for multiple seasons/years with proper care. As for lasting 6-7 years, it would be tough to say if that could happen without having to re-lace the glove or treat the leather of the glove.
