Pros: This is BY FAR the most awesome glove I've ever put onto my hand! The quality of the leather is amazing, and the fit is great. 12" gloves are normally considered a little small/short for the position, but this glove is an exception to the rule. What it lacks in length, it makes up for in control. It's an absolute dream come true. Color combo is great, and the padding is just what the doctor ordered. At 1st base you have to catch a lot of ZINGERS! Especially if your 3rd baseman or short stop has a cannon for an arm. This thing takes the sting away better than any other 1st baseman glove I've ever used. It also seems to really hang onto the balls. The leather almost seems sticky. Once your ball gets in there, it isn't going to pop out...trust. The pocket form that they created for it at the factory is literally perfect. Not much break-in required either. This is my favorite mitt. Awesome in every way.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Wilson A2K Series: A2KRB152800 First Base Mitt? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

I am looking for a glove for a freshman to get through high school. Is the 12 inch pattern big enough? ted
The pattern size of the glove would not be an indication of how big the glove would be on the inside where the hand fits. The size of the mitt you would need would come down more to what the player prefers than their size. A 12 inch model like the Wilson A2K Series (A2KRB152800) is fairly common for a first basemen though some players may prefer a larger mitt.
Patrick
Does a double break glove trap the ball better than a single break? CRob
That is entirely a matter of preference. Some players prefer a double break design, such as the one featured on the Wilson A2K Series (A2KRB152800) First Base Mitt. Other players will do better with a single break glove. It will come down to which design a player will tend to favor or do better with.

I am curious about this Wilson mitt only coming in a 12" length. Why is Wilson making their first base mitts so small? Chris
For the past few years, Wilson has found that they will have the best success selling models of first base mitts in the shorter 12.00"-12.25" lengths. For that reason, they have made their models around the 12.00" length (like this Wilson A2K Series: A2KRB152800 First Base Mitt). Unfortunately, if you are looking for longer models of first base mitts, you may need to look to another manufacturer of glove.

About the Brand

A true American icon in the world of sports equipment. This Chicago-based manufacturer of quality gloves began in 1913 as Ashland Manufacturing, which was a subsidiary of the Wilson & Co. meat company. At one point, the enterprise became known as the Thomas E. Wilson Co., taking the name of an early chief executive. In 1931, the name was changed to Wilson Sporting Goods Co.

Wilson makes a variety of baseball gloves and equipment for several different positions, uncluding bats and batting gloves. They are best known for models that include the A2K and A2000, as well as custom gloves. Players such as Clayton Kershaw and Miguel Cabrera have sported Wilson baseball gloves.
