Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Wilson A2000 SuperSkin Series: A20RB15G5SS? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

What glove do you recommend for third base, the Wilson G5 or the Wilson 1787? BSBF
Both the Wilson A2000 SuperSkin Series (A20RB15G5SS) and Wilson A2000 SuperSkin Series (A20RB151787SS) models would be great choices for a third baseman. Both are 11.75", feature the SuperSkin material on the back for a light feel, and made from the same Pro Stock Leather, so the decision between them really comes down to your preference of web style. The I-Web (what Wilson calls an H-Web) in the 1787 is the most common web style for an infielder. But the Reinforced Single Post Web is a good choice for the position, as well.

Will this glove come game ready or stiff to break it in by yourself? Andrew kirch

Patrick
I'm looking at the A2000 1787 and G5. What is the difference between the I web and reinforced single post? Why would one choose one over the other? Matt
The difference between the reinforced single post web on the Wilson A2000 SuperSkin Series (A20RB15G5SS) and the I-web on the Wilson A2000 SuperSkin Series (A20RB151787SS) is that the reinforced model has a bit more stable and slightly deeper pocket. The G5 would be more a glove I would expect a 3rd baseman to use and the 1787 would be used for third or possible a middle infield position. The I-web will be shallower to facilitate easier transfer to the throwing hand and the reinforced single-post will be deeper for more secure catching on sharp hits.
Patrick
Is the web on the G5 good for pitching and 3rd base? The web seems to be closed enough for pitching and I only throw out of the stretch. Cole40
The Wilson A2000 SuperSkin Series (A20RB15G5SS) could work for those positions. While it is often the choice of pitchers to use something more closed, it is not a requirement. Pocket style would come down to player preference ultimately.
