Wilson A2000 Pudge Roget coach

Pros: Great glove, nice leather, break-in was tough as you should expect from a high quality leather. It has broken in nicely and holds its form marvelously. The way this gloves pocket and web funtion is to be admired.

Cons: During break in the ball tended to pop or bounce out, and can re-occur but is quickly remeded with a light application of glove conditioner

A2000 Pudge Roger player

Pros: Most excellent leather and structure. This glove is professional gear, excellent padding and shape. Web system is awesome, my glove actually traps the ball when caught in the pocket.

Cons: None, other than expect a lengthy break-in period as this is superior leather, and you will get blisters breaking it in, but anything worth doing always takes a little blood and sweat if its perfection your after.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Wilson A2000 Series: A20RB15PUDGE Catcher's Mitt? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

What is the average size for the ages 11, 12, and 13? Somebody
Most 11-13 year old catchers will use mitts that are between 32.00" and 33.00" in pattern size. The 32.50" pattern size of the Wilson A2000 Series (A20RB15PUDGE) Catcher's Mitt would make it a very high quality option for players within that age range.
Mac
What does the Pro-Toe mean? Catcher
Whether it's Pro-Toe (Wilson's term), a Profiled Toe (All Star's term), or a Lite Toe (Rawlings' term), the thickness of the toe (where that term is printed on the mitt) is less than the rest of the pads that surround the pocket. This design makes it easier to scoop pitches out of the dirt than if the toe were the same thickness as the rest of the pads.
Mac
I'm looking to buy my boyfriend this glove as a present. He wears a 12" infield glove. I was wondering what size he would wear in a catcher's mitt? Knight16
The Wilson A2000 Series (A20RB15PUDGE Catcher's Mitt) will be a 32.50" size. This should be fine for a player who wears a 12" glove for infield.
Brandon
Is this an appropriate glove for an incoming college catcher? Pepe296
Absolutely. The Wilson A2000 Series (A20RB15PUDGE) Catcher's Mitt is a professional-quality mitt. And the 32.50" pattern size would be a good fit, if the player likes a slightly smaller pattern size.
Mac
Is this a good glove for 14U? What size would it be? I wear a 12" glove for infield. boston
The pattern size of this Wilson A2000 Series (A20RB15PUDGE) Catcher's Mitt is 32.50" which would be within the range I would recommend for a 14U player. Anything between 32.50" and about 33.50" would be a good choice for that age of player. And this mitt is a very high quality option that should last quite a few seasons, with good care.
Mac
I am 15 and 6'0". Is the size of this glove too small or good? Also I am catching guys throwing mid 80's to low 90's. I have heard that the padding in this glove is very thin. Would this glove be ok for catching this speed? southerncarolina
Based on your age, our Glove Coach recommends a 33" glove. The Wilson A2000 Series (A20RB15PUDGE) Catcher's Mitt is a 32.50" pattern, so if you prefer a slightly smaller size, this would be an ideal choice for you. It is also a professional quality glove, so it will have protection in the padding to sustain the faster pitches that you will see. It would be a fantastic choice for you.
Tessa
I'm buying a catcher's mitt for my 12 year old nephew. I am sure he will be using it for a few years. Would this 32.5" glove be suitable for a catcher in that age range or should I go with a youth model? He's about the size and age that fall in between youth and adult. J.D.
If you want him to be able to use it for a few years, I would suggest going with an adult model like the Wilson A2000 Series (A20RB15PUDGE). If you think he would need a transitional size between an adult mitt and a youth model, I would look into the Wilson A1K Series (A1KBB4CM1714).
Patrick
Does this mitt run true to size? Would I need to get a bigger size if it does run small? yadi
The Wilson A2000 Series (A20RB15PUDGE) Catcher's Mitt runs very true to its 32.50" design.
Jason
I am in high school but also playing on a travel team and I need a smaller glove for quick transfers but still will not sting while catching guys in the high 80's would you reccomend this glove in these catagories? southern thrill
The Wilson A2000 Series (A20RB15PUDGE) is a high end model capable of catching at those levels with comfort and it is a smaller design that will help with transfer times.
Patrick
Would you reccomend this glove to a college catcher? catchmeifyacan
The Wilson A2000 Series (A20RB15PUDGE) Catcher's Mitt is made with Wilson's high end Pro Stock Leather. If you prefer a smaller mitt, the PUDGE would be great for a collegiate catcher.
John H
What glove would you recommend for a 12 year old kid that is switching to an adult glove? k
Typically, a 12 year old is using a 32" or a 32.50" catchers mitt. The Wilson A2000 Series (A20RB15PUDGE) Catcher's Mitt is an excellent option for a 12 year old that is moving into an adult glove.
Jason
Which glove forms a deeper pocket this glove or the a2000 1791? j
A Wilson A2000 Series (A20RB15PUDGE Catcher's Mitt) would be able to form as deep of a pocket as any other catcher's mitt with a 32.5" circumference.
Ben
I am 12 yrs old and coming off a thumb injury. I catch for a fast pitcher. Will i need a bigger glove than what this Pudge model offers? slugger
Based upon your age, we would suggest a 32" circumference catchers mitt. The Wilson A2000 Series (A20RB15PUDGE Catcher's Mitt) actually provides a 32.5" pattern which is bigger than the suggested size. I do not think you will need to find a mitt with a larger circumference than this model.
Ben
Is this glove good for blocking? Blue Jay boy
The Wilson A2000 Series (A20RB15PUDGE) Catcher's Mitt features an extended pocket length for increased catching area; which will also aid in scooping balls out of the dirt. The most important factor to be considered when blocking a runner is that you will have to maintain control of the ball. Therefore it is important that the mitt fits your hand well. Additionally, larger mitts will provide more of a catching surface as well as a larger visual cue for tagging runners out. Another model that you could definitely consider would be the Marucci Pro Founders' Series (MFGFS350CM) Camel Catcher's Mitt in the 35.00 model.
Joe
I am 16 years old. Will this glove be too small for me? catcher
The Wilson A2000 Series (A20RB15PUDGE Catcher's Mitt) will fit you. I see 16 year old players using anywhere from 32"-34" mitt sizes. It just depends on what size you prefer.
Brandon
I am looking for a team mitt for my 9u travel team. Is this a good glove for that age? Is it adjustable for smaller hands? BOOM
The Wilson A2000 Series (A20RB15PUDGE) Catcher's Mitt is considered an adult catchers mitt and is not the best option for a 9 year old. The size does not adjust and it will be a little big on their hands. A better option with smaller finger and wrist stalls is the Wilson A1K Series (A1KBB4CM1714) Catcher's Mitt. The Wilson A1K is better suited for a 9 year old player.
Jason
I am 12 years old and play club baseball. Is this a good glove for me? AFERN
Yes, the Wilson A2000 Series (A20RB15PUDGE) Catcher's Mitt would be a great choice for you.
Tom
Why did the price go up from $210-$240? Eric
The price of our products including the Wilson A2000 Series (A20RB15PUDGE) is related to our cost on the item from the manufacturer and the price in the market. If you call in within 30 days of a price change to place your order and let us know, we can honor that price for 30 days after it is changed.
Patrick
I am 13, will this mitt fit me? calen
The Wilson A2000 Series (A20RB15PUDGE Catcher's Mitt) features a 32.50 inch pattern. Our glove coach would recommend a 32.00 inch model for you, however if you wanted to try the glove, we do pay for shipping both ways and offer a 100 day guarantee on all of our gloves.
Joe
I'm 13 and catch a lot for my travel team. From the tip of my middle finger to the bottom of my palm it is 6 inches. What glove would you recommend? Dequan
For your age and position we would recommend around a 32" circumference. The Wilson A2000 Series (A20RB15PUDGE Catcher's Mitt) is a 32.5" circumference and is an extremely durable model with a popular catchers pattern.
Allison
What is better, the A2000 Pudge or the All Star CM3000SBT? Wheels
Both the Wilson A2000 Series (A20RB15PUDGE) and the All Star Pro Elite Series (CM3000SBT) are nice options. They will be similar in quality. The CM3000SBT is slightly larger so the preference would probably come down to which size you prefer.
Patrick
I am looking for a new A2000! I am 12 and already use a 33.5 inch size. I wanted to know if you had any suggestions on exactly what model I should get and what size? Also, what is the difference between your Pudge gloves and your others? ry
The Wilson A2000 Series (A20RB15PUDGE) is the signature model of Ivan "Pudge" Rodriguez and features the style that he wore. Other than that it has similar qualities to the other A2000 models in terms of leather quality and feel. Size of the mitt you should use would be based on your preference rather than one size being best for your age or size. If you like the feel of the 33.5 inch model you have, I would advise to stick with it. If you feel you could use something a bit smaller for a more shallow pocket which can help with transfer time to your throwing hand, the Pudge may be a good model. If you want something bigger for a bigger target and a bit more secure catching, the Wilson A2000 SuperSkin Series (A20RB151790SS) might be a good option.
Patrick
I'm 12 years old, I play travel. What size do you recommend? Also, is this model easy to break in? pudgejr
Based on your age I recommend a 32 inch glove. The Wilson A2000 Series (A20RB15PUDGE Catcher's Mitt) is going to be a 32.50 inch mitt. This model is going to take some time to break in as it is high quality leather.
Frankie
What is the difference between A2k and A2000? granoe toro
The A2K line has a slightly higher grade of leather than the A2000 line like the Wilson A2000 Series (A20RB15PUDGE). So while it is a bit tougher to break-in, the A2K line may hold its shape a bit longer.
Patrick
what is a better option? an a2000 or heart of the hide Dan
The Wilson A2000 Series (A20RB15PUDGE Catcher's Mitt) and a Rawlings Heart of the Hide catcher's mitt would both be great mitts to consider. The A2000 may feature a slightly easier break-in period.
Cameron
Would this glove be good for 80 plus mile an hour pitches? Bombdropper
Yes, this Wilson A2000 Series (A20RB15PUDGE Catcher's Mitt) will have the construction and padding necessary to handle 80+ mph pitches.
Ben
How long does it take to break in? Ethan
This Wilson A2000 Series (A20RB15PUDGE Catcher's Mitt) will feature pretty stiff Pro-Stock leather that will cause the glove to take most players multiple weeks to get a break-in that would be considered "game-ready".
Ben
I am a 12 year old looking for a new glove. Would this be a good size for me? My hand is average for 12 year old's and I play travel baseball. Ethan
The Wilson A2000 Series: A20RB15PUDGE Catcher's Mitt features a 32.50" pattern and it would be a very good size for a player your age. Glove size ultimately comes down to personal preference, but typically a 12 year old moves into an adult size glove like this A2000.
Jason
what does pro toe mean mike dunn
The Wilson A2000 Series (A20RB15PUDGE) Catcher's Mitt features a pro toe which is where the thickness of the toe (where that term is printed on the mitt) is less than the rest of the pads that surround the pocket. This design makes it easier to scoop pitches out of the dirt than if the toe were the same thickness as the rest of the pads.
Carter
Is their any difference between the A2000 Pudge and the A2000 CM33 besides the size difference? Joe
The Wilson A2000 Series: A20RB15PUDGE Catcher's Mitt has small differences compared the the Wilson A2000 Series: A20RB15CM33 Catcher's Mitt like the stitching connecting the web to the glove. The PUDGE model has cross stitching compared the the vertical stitching of the CM33. However, other than that and the actual size of the glove, they are going to be very comparable.
Cooper
What's the difference between this and the new model (A20RB17PUDGE)? EC
This Wilson A2000 Series (A20RB15PUDGE Catcher's Mitt) and the A20RB17PUDGE will both feature the same build and quality of leather. The only difference between the mitts is the slightly different cosmetics.
Ben
i use a 32.5 and want this or a cm3000xsbt which it the better option? ty
Both the Wilson A2000 Series (A20RB15PUDGE) Catcher's Mitt and the All Star Pro Elite Series (CM3000XSBT) Catcher's Mitt are going to be great gloves. You really cannot go wrong either way. The Pro Stock Leather in the Wilson A2000 is very high quality leather and it is going to last almost forever. This A2000 is also the same style as what a lot of Major League Baseball players are wearing too.
Carter
Which glove oil/conditioner would you recommend to help break in this glove? grant
Any baseball specific glove oil/conditioner would be a good option for the Wilson A2000 Series: A20RB15PUDGE Catcher's Mitt. The Pro Soft Glove Conditioner is the more popular one here at JustBallGloves.com
Cameron
What is the weight of this glove? Fireball
Unfortunately, Wilson does not provide the weight on the Wilson A2000 Series: A20RB15PUDGE Catcher's Mitt. That would probably be a better question to ask them, but the mitt will weigh around 25 oz. Wilson can be reached by phone at (800) 874-5930 if you want to ask them.
Jason
What ages would you recommend this glove to? gabrielruth
The Wilson A2000 Series: A20RB15PUDGE Catcher's Mitt will be a mitt best served for use by a high school or college age player. A player who is 13 years of age would be served well by this mitt also but it will take some time to break in due to the higher leather quality that the Wilson A2000 mitts will feature.
Cameron
I would like a catcher's mitt exactly like this one but I do not like mitts with black middles. Can I still get one like this? Charlie (Ted Simmons)
The 2017 Wilson A2000 33" Catcher's Mitt: A20RB17CM33 is available in Blonde/Red with the same features as the Wilson A2000 Series: A20RB15PUDGE Catcher's Mitt but it is a 33.00 Inch Pattern.
Linsey
Would this be good for a ten year old catcher? He tried it and loved it, but I’m worried it might be too big. Murray
Yes, the Wilson A2000 Series: A20RB15PUDGE Catcher's Mitt would most likely be too large for a 10 year old. A2000 mitts are designed for high school and adult players.
