Description

Pro-Level Performance for the Up-And-Coming Player - the Wilson A1K is BACK!

The Wilson A1K Pro Staff takes the same legendary A2000 and A2K patterns designed for the game's Elite and tweaks them slightly to meet the needs of Intermediate to Advanced-level players everywhere. Built from top-qualilty full grain steerhide leather, the A1K Pro Staff Series provides pro-level performance without the need for a lengthy break-in. This high-end steerhide leather is the best quality available on the open market, and it blends a high level of durability with a softer, mold-able feel that allows you to form the glove to your exact preference. Each glove in the A1K Pro Staff Series also features the Pedroia Fit. This feature includes all of the fit modifications that Dustin Pedroia requests for his own game-model glove. These include a smaller hand opening / tighter finger stalls for a more-snug fit, longer laces, and a low profile heel. By removing the padding typically found at the base of the pocket or "heel", Wilson is able to create a design that closes easier and minimizes the rebound created when bad-hops hit the base of the glove.

This model features a 11.50" pattern size, an I-Web (Wilson H-Web) with Double X Laces, and is perfect for a Youth to Intermediate Infielder. Objective One

Pros: Construction is top of the line. Very hard to distinguish between this glove and the larger A2000. This glove would be perfect for about 9 year olds through high school. (high school if hands on the smaller side) The break-in was quick and easy using ASO's water method and 1 Hot Glove treatment with lots of catch of course. The pocket has formed well and it's easy enough to open and close without losing it's shape.

Cons: The reason for 4 stars vs 5 is because of the lack of palm padding. The design of the DP15 is of course thin heel padding, but there is literally no palm padding in the glove. It has caused some stingers and made us consider returning it. But the feel of the ball is better, it's just going to take some getting used to. The lack of rebound with the lack of padding in the heel is great, but not sure why they left it out of the palm too.

wilson A1K Pro Staff 11.5" I web sma parent

Pros: I will try to answer questions I had. I bought this for 10 yr old planning to play 4th year of competative ball next year. He is very small (4'4", 60 lbs) with hand about 5.5 - 6 inches from palm to finger tip. leather quality is really good. The glove is not as stiff as A2000 but will still take some time to break in...just how we want it. I have small hands too and this Pedroia fit would be really tight on me. I did not try to force my hand in it. Purchased this to transition from a 2-yr old Akadema AZR95 11". The finger spacing is a little bigger than AZR but he says it is comfortable on his hand and is excited to break it in. Love the curved finger shaping. Definitly right size for a 10-13 yr old middle infielder. based on comparison to other glove in stores and on field, i believe this is a top performer for this age range. i expect it to hold shape well for several years. perfect size glove for 10-13 age and best quality aside from higher end Wilson series.

Cons: This has faux fur on the back of the hand, not the Wilson sweat wicking band on higher end models.

The regular A1K models will use top shelf leather but both of these A1K models should have similar durability as well as break-in periods.

Cameron
I don't know what position I will play next year so what size glove do you recommend? Carson
The appropriate glove size is largely dependent on a player's age. Our general recommendation for an adult, utility glove is 12". Please refer to our Glove Coach for assistance in determining the right size for you: http://www.justballgloves.com/glove-coach/.
Angelique

Jake
Which one should I use in a game, the Wilson A1K Pro Staff Series Baseball Glove: A1K0SA4DP15 or a Mizuno MVP Prime SE? ty
The Wilson A1K Pro Staff Series Baseball Glove: A1K0SA4DP15 is a 11.50 inch pattern featuring the Pedroia fit - smaller hand opening, tighter finger stalls for more secure fit. If you are not looking for the smaller fit then the Mizuno MVP Prime SE would be the better route to take.
Cameron
Which has better leather, the Wilson A1K Pro Staff Series baseball glove or the Mizuno MVP Prime SE baseball glove? Which one feels better on the hand for a 12 year old kid? ty
Both the Wilson A1K Pro Staff Series Baseball Glove: A1K0SA4DP15 and the Mizuno MVP Prime SE baseball gloves are well constructed with the A1K models have a slight edge in leather quality. As for which glove will fit the hand of a 12 year old better, the Wilson A1K models will more than likely be a better fit due to the Pedroia fit - smaller hand opening, tighter finger stalls for more secure fit. If the player has bigger hands then would want to go with the Mizuno MVP Prime SE as these gloves have an adult fitting feel.
Cameron

The Wilson A1K Pro Staff Series Baseball Glove: A1K0SA4DP15 was released in the fall of 2015 so it is fairly new to the market.

Should say "Wilson Pro Staff."
Cameron
How would you recommend this be broke in for a 3B/SS role? Walt
Breaking in a glove is all about personal preference. Most infielders will try to form the largest fielding surface possible while others may prefer something else. To see how some players prefer to break in their glove please review the following video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0cf_mQllLRw
Cameron
Is this a good glove for its price for a player that alternates 3B and SS, but mainly 3B? William
Yes the Wilson A1K Pro Staff Series Baseball Glove: A1K0SA4DP15 would be a great option for a SS/3B.
Carter
Would a fastpitch infielder be able to use this mitt? Or baseball only? Tony
Given that the pocket size of the Wilson A1K Pro Staff Series Baseball Glove: A1K0SA4DP15 is designed for a baseball (small and shallow), I would not recommend it for fastpitch softball.
Marcus
Why doesn't this glove have the A1K branding on the finger and palm like some of the other A1K models? Meszaros
Due to the manner in which Wilson decided to build the A1K Pro Staff series, they refrained from writing A1K on the back of the index finger of the mitt and the palm of the mitt. However, the leather quality and fitting featured on this Wilson A1K Pro Staff Series Baseball Glove (A1K0SA4DP15) will be the same as any other A1K.
Ben
Is this glove comparable to a Rawlings gamer in the leather? And if not, which one would be a better grade or better quality? Baseball Johny
This Wilson A1K Pro Staff Series Baseball Glove (A1K0SA4DP15) will feature leather quality that is higher than what will be featured on a Gamer mitt from Rawlings. If you wanted the higher quality mitt between the two, I would suggest this Wilson A1K.
Ben

Would this glove be suitable for centerfield? I'm 13, but only 4 foot 10" inches zac
The Wilson A1K Pro Staff Series Baseball Glove: A1K0SA4DP15 would be a great glove for a middle infield position. For a center fielder, we would suggest the 2017 Wilson A2000 12.5" Baseball Glove: A20RB17KP92 or the 2017 Wilson A2K 12.5" Baseball Glove: A2KRB17KP92.
