Great fit for a 9 year old lefty 1badimport Parent

Pros: Quality build ,great fit ,soft enough you can break it in quickly. But not so soft it feels low end.this is a perfect transition glove for a 9,10,11u travel player.

Cons: I wish it came in more left hand options.Youth lefty gloves are hard to find and many youth still play multiple positions. An I web would be nice.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Wilson A1000 11.5" Baseball Glove: WTA10RB181789? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

My son is 9 years old and throws left handed. He is starting on his first select team, kid pitch. He weighs about 60 lbs. He has been using a Wilson 12", I want to get him a really nice glove this time around. The plays in the outfield. Which glove would you recommend? Bird
This Wilson would be a nice choice. If you want a higher quality glove, I would recommend a Wilson A2000 or a Rawlings Heart of the Hide. The PRO206-4DS would be a good Rawlings option, while the WTA20RB18B212SS would be a nice Wilson option. These will require more break-in period however.

What is the difference between the Wilson A800, A900, A1000? My 10 year old son plays on a competitive travel team. Plays mostly left, pitches often and occasionally plays 2nd. We have been looking at Rawlings and Wilson gloves, he likes the fit of those brands. Most likely a 11.5" inch. Any suggestions? skierxray
From what I can research, it is hard to find a real difference between an A800 mitt and an A900 mitt. Dick's Sporting Goods sells an A800 mitt that looks pretty comparable to the A900 mitts that we sell at JustBallGloves (when considering leather quality). However, this Wilson A1000 11.5" Baseball Glove (WTA10RB181789) will feature a premium grade cowhide shell that will be better than what is offered on an A800 or A900 mitt. This A1000 actually comes with a pretty snug fitting to it and I think it would work well for your 10 year old player.

Son is going to be 11, looking for a glove that will last a couple seasons before upgrading to something like a Wilson A2000 for high school. He pitches, plays second and sometimes outfield. Will I be better served going with a Wilson A1000, the Rawlings Gamer XLE or something else? The quiet dad in the stands
The Wilson A1000 11.5" Baseball Glove: WTA10RB181789 would make a great glove choice for an 11 year old player who plays multiple positions. With proper care, this glove would certainly allow a player to get multiple seasons of use before bridging over to the A2000 lineup. One of the main differences with these models when comparing to the Rawlings XLE is that the XLE models will feature Dual Core Technology; these gloves are designed with position specific break in points. In each case, it would be hard to pass on the quality construction of either model, and as cliche as it may sound, personal preference based on brand trust, etc. would be the ultimate deciding factor.

Would this glove be suitable for an 8-9 year old that is playing centerfield on a competitive travel ball team? Clint P.
The Wilson A1000 11.5" Baseball Glove: WTA10RB181789 would be an excellent glove for a CF to use that is 8-9 years old and playing a competitive schedule.
Cameron
Is this Wilson A1000 11.5" Baseball Glove a youth glove with smaller opening and finger spaces? FairfaxCityDad
The A1000 gloves, such as the Wilson A1000 11.5" Baseball Glove: WTA10RB181789, feature an intermediate fit between a true youth model and a standard fitting glove.
Logan
How is this compared to the Nokona Alpha Youth glove fit wise? scooter
The Wilson A1000 11.5" Baseball Glove: WTA10RB181789 will be very similar in fit to the Nokona Alpha Youth glove as both are youth models designed to fit smaller hands.
Tori
My son is 12 and has a A2000 11.25 he uses it for infield. Would this glove be good for outfield and pitching? liam
The Wilson A1000 11.5" Baseball Glove: WTA10RB181789 would be a great fit to use at pitcher. However, it may be a little small for the outfield. I would recommend a 12'' glove for the outfield.
Tori
I'm a 14 year old pitcher and shortstop with medium sized hands, would this glove be good for me? baseballman
Yes, the Wilson A1000 11.5" Baseball Glove: WTA10RB181789 is an excellent glove for a middle infielder given the 11.5" sizing. Furthermore, the Pro Laced T-Web will help hide your grip when pitching. This would be a great glove for you.
Tyler
Between the Wilson A1000 and the Marucci RS225, what would you recommend for a 10 yr. old who plays outfield and second base? Andy
Both are great options for a 10 year old player. Both are made for players who are not ready for the adult size gloves but needing a more durable glove. It would be a personal preference on the webbing, the Wilson A1000 11.5" Baseball Glove: WTA10RB181789 has a pro laced T web. While the Marucci RS225 Series 11.5" Baseball Glove: MFGRS115H features a classic H web.

Cameron
My son is an 8 yr old. Would this A1000 or the Rawlings R9 be a better choice? AlianceDad
The Wilson A1000 11.5" Baseball Glove: WTA10RB181789, and a corresponding Rawlings R9, would be excellent options to consider for an 8 year old. We would recommend a size of 11.25-11.50 inches.
Cameron
I need a glove of great leather that will last for 2 to 3 yrs or longer for my son, he is only seven years young but loves the game can't find 11.5 locally. What Wilson glove to you all recommended for him that I can order? oscar
The Wilson A1000 11.5" Baseball Glove: WTA10RB181789 may be too large in the finger stalls and wrist opening for a player of 7 years of age. The Wilson A900 Pedroia Fit 11.5" Baseball Glove: WTA09RB20115PF may be a better fit for your player. This will allow for a little more growth until they grow into the likes of an A1000.
