Each Under Armour catcher's mitt features a very wide, deep pocket that creates the perfect target for pitchers and improves the catcher's ability to receive the ball efficiently. With such a deep pocket, some may have concerns about securing the ball on close plays at the plate, but the thicker heel and toe padding that the Deception Series offers ensure that the baseball stays securely in the mitt. These mitts are also insanely durable. Inside, PTH Padding runs the length of the palm to prevent sting and also improves the longevity of the leather where it experiences the most wear and tear. And with a vertically laced web and pocket, the chances of a snapped lace or worn web is greatly reduced.

Cons: fits very tight. almost like it is a youth glove which makes it uncomfortable. very very stiff and hard to break in.

Pros: Great glove right out of the bag. Little break-in required. Needed a good glove to catch for my growing sons who pitch. This is perfect. At the sale price there isn’t a glove that touch it’s quality.

Pros: The quality of the glove is similar to most of the high end catchers mitt. Mitt is light weight. Great for smaller hands.

Cons: Mitt is super stiff which is expected for high quality mitt. If you have bigger hands the glove is super tight. Overall my son loves the glove

Pros: Feels like a high quality glove, will be able to work on breaking it in more when the weather warms up. Bought it to catch my 10 yr old son as he grows and continues to throw harder, believe this mitt will work great, especially for the price.

The Heart of the Hides utilize the top 5% of steerhide cut and thus provide the highest level leather available. However, the Under Armour Deception Series Adult Catchers Mitt (UACM-200A) still uses a steerhide leather construction, which is very durable but also easy to break-in.

If you have previously used a Rawlings HOH you could certainly purchase this mitt and see if you like how it compares to an HOH. If you want to use it, be sure and purchase Glove Assurance so that it can be returned.

The Under Armour Deception Series Adult Catchers Mitt: UACM-200A should be okay for him to use. He is right on the cusp of switching to adult models, but the slightly smaller fit should help.

The All Star Pro Series: CM3200SBT Catcher's Mitt is probably the closest model we have to this Under Armour model in terms of overall quality. I personally prefer All Star as the top brand for catcher's mitts. Their elite/higher end models are used by many MLB/MiLB players.
