Description

Up until 1875, baseball players didn't even use a glove when playing defense. In the late 1800's, players began using fingerless gloves on both hands, and it wasn't until 1919 that the idea of a "web" was even suggested. Unlike with bats, there are rarely innovations in the glove industry these days that really revolutionize the game. This season, Rawlings will change everything. Introducing the REVO Series player specific gloves from Rawlings. Featuring Solid Core Technology, these gloves eliminate traditional lining, and instead use layers to cater to how a player catches the ball based on position and personal preference. These layers, combined with the absence of heel and palm lacing, result in a glove that is naturally easier to close and less time consuming to break in. The REVO design creates a preformed pocket that gives players a better feel and enhanced grip of the ball, giving new meaning to the phrase "fits like a glove". Rawlings has divided these REVO gloves into three categories classified by pocket depth: Deep, Standard, and Flat. This particular model is part of the REVO 950 Series and is made from Rawlings high quality Pro Select, oil-tanned shell leather with deer tanned cowhide leather lining. The Flat 116 degree pocket on this glove breaks in from fingers to palm, and is tailor-made for players that consistently use two hands when fielding the ball. With a Pro I-Web and a conventional open back design, this 11.25 Inch model allows for unparalleled control to scoop the ball up and get it out as quickly as possible. Rawlings: Redesigning Defense. Pros: absolutely a ball players glove. I have the 11.75 model but this glove is a pro perferred glove with a gold glove price. Break in time is great and the style of glove and how you use it does matter. This is the best glove a high schooler player could want.

Cons: None

Pros: Some of the finest leather I've seen. Very affordable for a high quality glove. Holds shape well. Comfortable My two boy's both have a 9SC112CF, I was so impressed with the quality that I bought the 6SC33CM catcher's mitt for my self.

Cons: Pretty stiff at first, but oil it up and it will get better. A couple hours of catch and both my boys had them game ready.

Pros: Very solid glove for 9/10 year old. Will last for years.

Cons: Will take some time to break in, so don't expect to use it in game situations the day after you buy it--well worth the wait!

Pros: great feel. Easy to break in but still nice and stiff in the fingers. I was playing with it in games the weekend I got it! I am 14 and play 3B, CF, 2B, and Pitcher. I use another rawlings glove for CF but this one is fine for 2B, 3B and Pitcher. Maybe need a longer glove with deeper pocket for 3B bu works just fine for me for now.

Cons: Really none. I may look at a little longer glove (11 3/4") for 3B but I really like this one too.

Have a question about the Rawlings REVO 950 Series: 9SC112CF? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

Is the wrist strap loose? JCJC
The wrist opening will be average in size for an 11.25 inch adult size ball glove. I guess it depends on how big your hand and wrist are. I have average size hands for an adult male and this glove feels great on my hand.
TJ
how long will this glove last me? aaaa
Generally your going to be able to get anywhere from 3-5 years of play out of a glove.

Is the Pro-I reasonable for a pitcher. It's hard to tell in the image if a batter would be able to pick up a grip via the laces through the open areas. Larry K.
This glove is commonly used by pitchers. The Pro I doesn't allow much to show.
Linda

This is a great glove and will be designed for infield play. This is not a first base mitt. This glove will be very durable and will last you many seasons.

Is this glove's break-in exactly like the brake in on the Pro Preferred gloves? 30fke
The Rawlings Pro Preferred Series gloves will have an easier break-in period than the Rawlings REVO 950 Series: 9SC112CF. The Pro Preferred is made from Kip Leather. Kip Leather is softer and will be very durable. The REVO 950 Series will be made from High Quality Oil-Tanned Pro Select Leather. This Leather will be very durable but will take a while longer to break-in to the players satisfaction. The REVO 950 Series will come with Deer Tanned Cowhide Leather Lining and a Laceless Heel and Palm.

Yes, the Rawlings REVO 950 Series: 9SC112CF would be a great glove for your position.
Noah
I play 3B, I was looking for a good glove under $150. Any suggestions? Mike
The Rawlings REVO 950 Series: 9SC112CF is a great glove. However it is designed more for a middle infielder. We recommend a 11.75" like the Rawlings REVO 950 Series: 9SC117CD.
Kara
My 13 year old son is a left hand thrower and plays on our high school junior team. He is an outfielder and has been playing with a 11.50" glove but the coach told me yesterday that he needs a bigger glove. Would this 11.25" glove be too big? EDiegoCat
The Rawlings REVO 950 Series: 9SC112CF may be too small at 11.25". Based on his age and position, we recommend a 12.50" to 12.75" model. For further information on sizing, please visit our Glove Coach at http://www.justballgloves.com/glove-coach/
Aubrey
My 11 year old son plays a variety of positions: 2B, 3B, P, OF. Would this be a good all-around glove, or is it time to consider more position-specific gloves? Rastus
The Rawlings REVO 950 Series: 9SC112CF would be great for all of those positions, with the exception of outfield. When playing in outfield I don't recommend anything smaller than a 12.00" glove.
Noah
Would you recommend this or the A1K? Tk
Both the Rawlings REVO 950 and the Wilson A1K are high quality gloves that feature high quality leather. Either one would be a great option.
Justin R.
I play shortstop and second base. I use 12.75" Rawlings. I like the A2K and this glove what would be the best for me? I'm 9 years old. Radman
The Rawlings REVO 950 Series: 9SC112CF is an 11.25" glove. It would be great for middle infield. A 12.75" is more of an outfield size. The Wilson A2K is a top of the line glove. The leather quality will be second to none.
Brandon
Could you close it index-to-thumb? cobra
Yes, you could. The Rawlings REVO 950 Series: 9SC112CF has a shallow pocket that many infielders are looking for. The REVO Solid Core construction offers position specific breaks in the glove that promote more of an index-finger-to-thumb closure.
Mac
I have the Rawlings Heart of the Hide 11.25" I-Web. Is it the same feeling as the REVO 950 Series? How long does it usually take to break-in? MichaelD4
The Rawlings REVO 950 Series (9SC112CF) will feel like a Rawlings Heart of the Hide Series. They will both feel very stiff and take a little time to break-in properly. Two weeks time should have the gloves feeling and playing very comfortably.
Brandon
How do I purchase the glove for the price shown? I don't see an add to cart section. Murph
Unfortunately it looks like the Rawlings REVO 950 Series (9SC112CF) is out of stock and discontinued so we will not be getting any more in.

About the Brand

Rawlings is a major manufacturer of competitive team sports equipment and apparel for baseball, basketball, and football, as well as licensed MLB, NFL, and NCAA retail products. Rawlings is a major supplier to professional, collegiate, interscholastic, and amateur organizations worldwide, including the Official Baseball Supplier to Major League Baseball.

The first real innovation in glove making occurred in 1912 when Rawlings Sporting Goods Company introduced the "Sure Catch" glove, which was "endorsed by leading players all over the country." The Sure Catch was a one-piece glove with sewn-in finger channels and looked better suited for a duck's foot than a man's hand. Catchers' mitts used at the time were large and bulky with a single leather thong passing for a web.

In 1920, Bill Doak, a journeyman pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, approached Rawlings with an idea for improving the baseball glove from a mere protective device to a genuine aid in fielding. The "Bill Doak" model was so revolutionary that it stayed in Rawlings' line until 1953. Its key feature was a multi-thong web laced into the first finger and thumb, which created for the first time in baseball's young life, a natural pocket.

In 1925, Rawlings unveiled a three-fingered fielder's glove, and ten years later improved the Bill Doak model with a two-piece leather web. At the same time, the "T" web became a rage for first basemen's mitts. The pocket underwent a pronounced change in 1941 when the Trapper Mitt, also known as the Claw, appeared. The "Deep Well" pocket was so unique that Rawlings quickly patented it. The design was improved in 1950 by adding a leather piece across the top. Another significant creation occurred in 1948 with the three-fingered Playmaker. A five-fingered fielder's model, with all fingers laced together, provided greater pocket control.

The six-fingered Trap-Eze evolved in the 1960's. In more recent years, Rawlings produced the Fastback design, which gives a glove a snugger fit, greater extension, and overall control. The Holdster is a slot through which a finger can be extended for additional protection from impacts on the pocket. Then, there is the Edge-U-Cated Heel with its extended U-shaped lacing and the Pro H Web and much-copied Basket Web.

Some of Rawlings's more recent glove innovations also include the unique Spin-Stopper design which reduces ball spin when the ball hits the glove, and the Cantilever glove design feature that provides a cushioned area between the hand and the glove's palm area. In all, Rawlings has produced and patented more functionally innovative glove features and designs than that of any other glove manufacturer. The result is that the modern baseball glove is much larger, more comfortable, better padded, and made to last far longer than its ancestors. It is not uncommon to see today's Major League players wearing the same Rawlings glove they wore during their college playing days. In fact, Rawlings is the #1 glove in the major leagues. Rawlings maintains about 65 models of baseball and softball mitts and gloves in its line. The prototypes of virtually all of them have been field-tested by professionals before entering a sporting goods dealer's inventory.
