Pros: The glove comes a little stiff and breaks in very nicely, leather is very high quality, forms to your hand.

Cons: The tips of the fingers are a little flimsy and I found a Nike Diamond Elite Pro for $300 and it is far better than this.

Pros: This glove forms to your catching style and forms a good pocket while still being a tad stiff; which is what I prefer because it helps hold its shape.

Cons: Laces feel a little week/soft even with proper breaking-in conditioning techniques. I prefer 'two in the pinkie' because this pocket is super flat, so great for mid-infield, but I personally prefer a mid-deep pocket.

Pros: This glove is great for pitchers and infielders. When you get the glove you really should tighten the laces on the fingers because it will keep the shape and pocket that you want so it won't get floppy. If you are a serious baseball player and willing to take the time and effort to break in this baseball glove then this baseball glove is meant for you.and I prefer this glove for a high school baseball player to a collage player....simply the best glove ever made

Cons: If you don't like great baseball gloves then it is not for you

Pros: Good leather, forms nicely to the hand, good pocket. Good looking glove.

Cons: Comes stiff and takes a while to break in. Gets really dry so I have to oil mine a lot. The inside of the glove got so dry that it ripped. Go heart of the hide dual core.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Rawlings Pro Preferred Series: PROS15MTBR? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

is this glove heavy , how much does it weigh? ben p
I don't consider it a heavy glove. No two gloves will be the exact same, but this model will weigh between 21 and 21.5 ounces.
John
what is better a pro preferred or heart of the hide? kobe
If you are strictly talking about the quality of the leather and materials, the Pro Preferred Series will have an edge. However, both are very high quality gloves that display great performance and durability. The Pro Preferred Series will require a little longer break-in period due to the higher quality leather. Both gloves are used by many players at the professional level.
TJ
what is better for middle infield a trapeze or i-web? why? kobe
That completely comes down to the personal preference of the player. I feel that an I-web tends to trap the ball a little better, but I feel that with a modified trap web I can get the ball out of the pocket a little quicker. Just depends on what the player is looking for.
TJ
for a shortstop would a rawlings pro preferred, a wilson a2000, or a wilson a2K be the best? why? kobe
There is no "best" glove based on ones position. The Pro Preferred, Wilson A2000 and Wilson A2K are all high quality gloves and it really depends on the personal preference of the player. All of these Series feature gloves that would be great for a shortstop.
JH
Would u recommend this glove for a third basemen Hot stuff
Yes, I would recommend this glove for a 3rd base. This is one of the best gloves that we do carry. Most infield players use between an 11.00-11.50. This is going to be a great glove and last a long time.
Brett
For third base, which would be better, the rawlings PROS15MTBR or the mizuno GMP6? rossiffer
Both would be great gloves for a third baseman. Both are very high quality gloves that will display excellent performance and durability. It just depends on which style of webbing you prefer. The modified trap featured in the PROS15MTBR is very popular and many infielders like that type of web. The open single post web of the GMP6 is a more traditional web that has always been a popular choice among third basemen.
JH
Which glove is better? This or the $400 Nike Diamond Elite Pro? J.Hiken
That completely comes down to personal preferrence. Both are made from high quality kip leather and display great durability and performance. The Pro Preferred has a better and longer track record compared to the Nike Diamond Elite Pro Series though.
Brett
does this glove come with any type of warranty? t raz
Yes, this glove comes with a 100 day warranty through us and a year warranty through Rawlings.
Brett
My Pro Preferred seems to be broken in in some areas but others seem like they are too stiff to be game ready (Inside, Hinge area) What should I do? Riley
If you have glove oil, I would recommend applying a small amount to the entire surface of the glove, especially the laces. Let the glove sit overnight then I would take a wooden mallet and hit the glove where ever it doesn't seem to be breaking in evenly. I'm not sure how long you've had the glove, but keep in mind, this is a very high quality glove and it will take some time before it's completely broken in.
Brett
How long will this glove last before it starts to break down and get floppy? Trojan10
This is going to be one of the better gloves that we have on our website. This glove is going to use Kip leather. That is going to be one of the top leathers that is used for a glove that we carry. This glove should last at least a couple of years before it starts to become floppy.
Brett
Is this glove soft? FarCRY3
Yes, the pro preferred's are very soft, supple leather.
Mark
deep or shallow pocket? yop
If you were to compare this glove to other 11.5 inch models it's pocket would be average in depthy.
John
How is the leather different from the HOH, Primo, and Gold Glove? jc510
The Primos are the highest quality gloves from Rawlings (and possibly some of the highest quality gloves on the market). They are made with full grain Italian calfskin. They will be stiff and will take a little while to break in. The Pro Preferred are 2nd to the Primos. They are made with full grain Kipskin leather. They will still be pretty stiff, but won't take as long to break in as the Primos. The HOH Series is 3rd behind the Pro Preferred and is made with Steerhide leather. They will be softer than the Pro Preferred and Primos, but are still high quality gloves that will take a week or two to break in. The Gold Glove Series is made with soft cowhide leather. They will be pretty easy to break in and won't quite be on the same level as the HOH, Primos or Pro Preferred gloves in terms of overall quality and durability.
Brett
i have got 2 questions . how long would it take to start and faded / go floppy . and is this a good size for a 14 year old pitcher to last him a long time. evo
This would be a great glove to use for a pitcher. This glove will last you for multiple years. This is going to be one of the better with durability that we have to offer. This glove will take a long time for it to get flimsy.
Todd
What is better all around Rawlings pro preffered vs Wilson a2k? D-rek
The Rawlings Pro Preferred glove is going to be one of the best gloves that we carry. It is going to have great durability. This glove is going to take about a week to break in and then it will be game ready.
Todd
The Rawlings Pro Preferred glove is going to be one of the best gloves that we carry. It is going to have great durability. This glove is going to take about a week to break in and then it will be game ready.
Todd
Would you suggest this for a pitcher? Go Bells
Yes, I would recommend this glove for a pitcher. This is going to be one of the top of the line gloves on the market. This is going to be a perfect glove for use in the infield.
Todd
How does this glove compare to the Nocona Bloodline Series Woody
The Bloodline is an excellent glove line. They do require a bit to get broken in, but awesome once broken in. The PROS15MTBR is similar, once broken in...incredible gloves.
gamer
My son is 10 but will be 11 by the time spring 2012 baseball is in season. He plays competitive baseball and is a left handed pitcher. Will this glove fit him now or should I wait a year or two? Thanks for answering. mark
This glove would be fine for him to use now. This glove is so well made it will last him a long time.
Linda
I am 12 years old and I play travel baseball I pitch, and I play second base I also play some outfield would you recommend this glove? Dawg
This glove will be perfect for infield and pitcher positions. I would suggest getting a bigger glove if you want this for outfield.
KG
For a third baseman is an I web better than a mod. trapeze? dwboutit
Both web types are oommon for infielders and 3rd basemen. This would be a great choice.
k.B.
Is this glove legal for a division 2 college pitcher? Haney
Yes, this glove is legal for a division 2 college pitcher
John
How does this glove compare to the Primo? Houge
Actually, the Rawlings Pro Preferred PROS15MTBR is very comparable to the Primo line of gloves from Rawlings. About the only difference you"ll find is the quality of leather used to craft the gloves. The Primo is made with full-grain, fine Italian leather while the Pro Preferred is made with Kip leather. The Pro Preferred will tend to break-in a little quicker than the primo, also. These are both incredible gloves, and you"ll be happy with whatever choice you make.
Bodie
How does this glove compare to the Primo? garrett
The Primo glove uses full grain leather. It will be stiffer and take longer to break in compared to the Pro Preferred. Both are going to be very durable and high quality.
KB
Which type of webbing do you prefer for a shortstop/pitcher? houge
Infielders tend to prefer Modified Trapeze webbing.
KB
How does this glove's padding compare to the Heart of the Hide Pro Mesh? Lil'z'
The PROS15MTBR and the PRO204M have very similar padding. These gloves are high quality gloves and will be very durable. To help these gloves become softer add some glove oil to your order.
Kris
What would be the ideal item to break in this glove? What do you recommend? playaa
A good way to break in the PROS15MTBR is by adding glove oil to the inside, outside and to the laces. Check out our glove care kits as well. These kits are perfect for breaking in new gloves.
Kris
Will this glove get floppy quickly? rudy
Not at all. This glove is made out of really high quality leather and you shouldn't have any problems with the glove becoming floppy quickly.
Jennifer
which glove is better in your opinion? this one or the primo keith
Both gloves are extremely high quality, but the Primo will be made from a higher grade Italian leather than the kip leather used in the Rawlings Pro Preferred Series: PROS15MTBR.
Nick D
Is this glove good for a 11 year old 3rd baseman? batman
The Rawlings Pro Preferred Series: PROS15MTBR is a great glove for an 11 year old third baseman, and should last him a very long time if the glove is taken care of properly.
Zach
What's the difference between this and the Nokona Bloodline series? Which is better if there's a difference? tyler
Both are great and durable gloves. The Rawlings Pro Preferred will have an easier break than the Nokona Bloodline.
Damon
Which is better this or the Primo PRM1150s? km
Both are excellent choices. The Primo will be the top of the line model for Rawlings. It will be stiffer and more difficult to break in than the Rawlings Pro Preferred Series.
Kara
will there be any 11.75 inch gloves like this? JaredTip30
The closest option would be the Rawlings Pro Preferred 125th Anniversary Series: PROS1174-125. However, it's not the same colors.
Tyler
Is this Two tone look legal for a pitcher in the NJCAA? Shove it
Two-tone gloves are not allowed in NCAA play. Because the Rawlings PROS15MTBR is two-toned, I would recommend looking elsewhere.
Tyler
Do Modified-Trap webs break more easily than a Pro I web? Tbone
No, they do not have a higher chance of breaking, but the pocket of a trapeze web will become more loose over time.
Tom
Do they make 11.75 modified trapeze in primo leather? cant find 11.75 only 11.5 or 11.75 basket... trevin
We don't currently have a 11.75 modified trapeze web available in the Primo model. Here is a link to view our stock of 11.75 gloves with the modified trapeze webbing. http://www.ballglovewarehouse.com/products/size~11.75/web%20type~modified%20trapeze/
Derek
Which glove is better the Rawlings Pro Preferred Series PROS15MTBR or the Rawlings Primo PRM1150T? austin
The Primos are the top line for Rawlings with the Pro Preferred as second to them. The Primos are made with full-grain Italian leather and will take longer to break in. The Pro Preferred line is made with Kip leather and will require less time to break in. Both gloves are very high quality and durable.
Aubrey
is this glove good for a 13 year old 3rd baseman i have pretty small hands for my age? bbg
At 11.5", the Rawlings Pro Preferred Series: PROS15MTBR is a great glove for a 13 year old third baseman.
Tyler
I am trying to decide between the Primo and the Pro Preferred both in 11.5 and was wondering the difference in weight because I was hearing that the Primo is kinda heavy. Jake
The Primo Series will be a little heavier as it is made with a higher quality leather.
Tyler
when I get this glove is it so stiff that I cant close it? 30fke
The Rawlings Pro Preferred Series: PROS15MTBR glove will actually be pretty easy to close for such a high quality leather. The Kip Leather used is very durable and really soft. It is a very comfortable option for a new glove. I would say after 1 week of playing catch the glove would be totally where you would need it to be.
Brandon
I've never had a modified trapeze webbed glove before, is it alright for a 2nd baseman? Also is it a good glove for a 15 year old in general? akeefe816
The Rawlings Pro Preferred Series: PROS15MTBR baseball glove is a pitcher/infield model. It would be an excellent choice for a 15 year old infielder.
Jeff
Do you personalize with name on this glove? Steve
Unfortunately, we do not provide personalization on any of our glove models. I do know that you could get it done by the glove manufacturer for this Rawlings Pro Preferred Series: PROS15MTBR.
Brandon
Would this be a good glove for experienced high school player who will split time between SS and OF? Not wanting to buy two gloves. Smaller than average hands. kwj
At 11.5", the Rawlings Pro Preferred Series: PROS15MTBR would be a great size for a High School infielder. However, it's going to be pretty small for outfield use. The most common size for a High School player who plays infield and outfield is 12".
Tyler
Is this glove right for a third base/ outfielder? G Man
That depends on the age of the player. I recommend our Glove Coach. It's a great tool: http://www.justballgloves.com/glove-coach/
Tyler
Is this a good glove for an 11 year old that plays both shortstop and pitcher? Epic pako
The 11.50" Rawlings Pro Preferred Series: PROS15MTBR might be a little too big for an 11 year old shortstop. I would look for a glove that is 11.25" like the Rawlings Pro Preferred Series: PROS12ICBR.
Marcus
I play 2nd base in high school. Should I look at an 11.75" glove or is this the good size? And is this a good glove for my age and position? Jarad
Most high school 2nd basemen use a 12" glove. Check out the Rawlings Pro Preferred Series: PROS20BR.
Chad M.
Is this pocket too deep for a second baseman? Baseball123
The Rawlings Pro Preferred Series: PROS15MTBR has an average size pocket. It will be perfect for a second baseman.
Kara
Is this glove good for a 13 year old second baseman, but im small for my age? baseballking
The Rawlings Pro Preferred Series: PROS15MTBR is great for second base, but it will take a pretty good amount of time to fully break it in.
Noah
Is this glove legal pitching in high-school because I know that it is two-toned? Jeremy
Even though the Rawlings Pro Preferred Series: PROS15MTBR is a two-toned glove, it will still be legal for a high school pitcher, because it has no white in the glove.
Noah
Would this glove be good for a varsity 3rd baseman/Pitcher? BaseballFan
Yes, the Rawlings Pro Preferred Series (PROS1MTBR) is ideal for an infielder/pitcher. The modified trapeze is a great web design to help you hide the ball when you are on the mound.
John
If I throw with my right hand, which one should I get? A left or right? B McLean
If you throw with your right hand, you would want to use a right handed thrower in the Rawlings Pro Preferred Series: PROS15MTBR.
Brandon
What other glove that is not rawlings has durable leather like the pro p? tree
Other models that are similar to the Rawlings Pro Preferred PROS15MTBR would be the Marucci Founder's Series, Mizuno Global Elite VOP Series, and the Wilson A2K's.
John
Is steaming a good way to break-in a glove? And if so, would it work on this glove or a Wilson SuperSkin glove? Nick
Steaming a glove will definitely make the glove much softer, but we do not recommend taking that approach toward the break-in. By steaming the glove, you're exposing the leather to very high temperatures which degrades the leather shell and especially the laces. This can definitely have an affect on how long the glove lasts you. To ensure you get the longest life out of your glove, whether it's this Rawlings Pro Preferred Series: (PROS15MTBR) or a Wilson A2000 SuperSkin, check out our Glove Resource Guide: http://www.justballgloves.com/glove-resource-guide/glove-care-products/
Mac
Can I use this glove for third and middle infield? tommy
The Rawlings Pro Preferred Series: PROS15MTBR would be an ideal glove to use at both third base and middle infield positions.
Justin R.
How good is this glove for middle infield and outfield? Tuck
The Rawlings Pro Preferred Series (PROS15MTBR) is best for an infielder. We recommend the Rawlings Pro Preferred Series (PROS20BR) for a utility player.
Kara
Where is this glove made? HS coach
The Rawlings Pro Preferred Series (PROS15MTBR) is made in the Philippines.
Brandon
I want the PROS15MTBR. I'm an outfielder for high school. Would a PP be better than a HOH. What glove is recommended? rightfield
Outfielders use both Pro Preferred or Heart of the Hide gloves. Both gloves are made of high quality leather and very durable. The Rawlings Pro Preferred Series (PROS15MTBR) is an infielders glove. If you like the Pro Preferred model we recommend the Rawlings Pro Preferred Series ( PROS303-6BR) for an outfielder.
Kara
For a pitcher/3rd baseman in high school: this glove or the Rawlings Heart of the Hide Dual Core Series: PRO204DCB? thefrentos
The Rawlings Pro Preferred Series (PROS15MTBR) and the Rawlings Heart of the Hide Dual Core Series (PRO204DCB) are both ideal for a a pitcher and 3rd baseman. They both use quality leather and are very durable. The PROS15MTBR uses a slightly higher quality of leather than the PRO204DCB.
Kara
How much does this glove weigh? Nick
The Rawlings Pro Preferred Series (PROS15MTBR) will weigh between 21 and 21.5 ounces.
Zach
Do used gloves come with the 100 day guarantee? casey
Yes. All the gloves sold on JustBallGloves.com like the Rawlings Pro Preferred Series (PROS15MTBR) whether new or used come with our 100 day guarantee period.
Patrick
What's the size of the glove? Bonamico
The Rawlings Pro Preferred Series (PROS15MTBR) is an 11.50" glove.
John H
Is this a good choice for a freshman in highschool who is a shortstop/pitcher? If not are there any similar alternatives? Brendino
Yes. The Rawlings Pro Preferred Series (PROS15MTBR) for someone who plays those positions.
Damon
I am 12 years old. Would this be a good size for me?
The 11.5 inch pattern on the Rawlings Pro Preferred Series (PROS15MTBR) would be a good size for an infielder of your age.
Patrick
Would this be a good glove for a 12 year old who plays third base and pitcher? el3
The Rawlings Pro Preferred Series (PROS15MTBR) would be a a good model for play at those positions.
Patrick
I am a 15 year old second baseman with a smaller type hand. When I'm playing, my hand seems to sweat a lot in my glove. Would you recommend this glove or the Mizuno Pro Limited Edition? Taylor Calder
Both the Rawlings Pro Preferred Series (PROS15MTBR) and the Rawlings Pro Preferred Series (PROS15MTBR) would be great, premium quality choices. The Mizuno may be a bit stiffer coming out of the box but overall they would compare very similarly in most other aspects of the glove.
Patrick
Would a Modified Trap Web or an I-Web have a more shallow pocket? usabaseball29
Both an I-Web and Modified T Web will have a similar pocket depth. I do see more middle infielders using the I-Web design because of the quick ball transfer from glove to hand. The Rawlings Pro Preferred Series (PROS15MTBR) would be a great choice!
Brandon
Other than color scheme, what's the difference between this glove and the PRO200-4K? Rocco
The Rawlings Pro Preferred Series (PROS15MTBR) and the PRO200-4K will both feature Rawlings Pro Preferred Kip leather. Both will also be 11.50" and have a Modified Trapeze-Web. The PRO200-4K will not feature the Index Finger Gel Pad. The PRO200-4K is Baltimore Orioles Shortstop J.J. Hardy's game day glove.
Brandon
Are the fingers real stiff? bob
Yes, the finger stalls in the Rawlings Pro Preferred Series (PROS15MTBR) will be stiff out of the box and will provide lasting structure with good care.
Mac
My son plays infield and pitches. Which Pro Preferred pocket would be best? The webbed/pitcher version, or the T/H pocket? Cade
I would recommend the Modified T-Web design of this Rawlings Pro Preferred Series (PROS15MTBR) for an infielder/pitcher. The T-Web is a popular choice among both positions and will help him conceal his pitch selection on the mound.
Mac
How do you break-in a glove so that creases don't form in the palm? chooch
To break-in the Rawlings Pro Preferred Series (PROS15MTBR) without creases, watch this video: http://www.justballgloves.com/glove-resource-guide/breaking-in-a-glove/
Brandon
How does the Rawlings Heart of the Hide compare to this glove? Which glove will last me longer? Johnny462
The Rawlings Pro Preferred Series (PROS15MTBR) would be be the more durable glove. The Pro Preferred will use a higher quality of leather than the Heart of the Hide. The higher quality leather will provide a longer lasting glove with more durability and will hold its shape better over time.
Kelby
Which glove is worth the money? This glove or the heart of the hide? Mark Frise
With any glove, the price is directly related to the quality of the leather being used. Higher grades of leather will cost more. Typically, higher grades of leather are much more stiff initially, and require a longer break-in period. However, these gloves will also be more durable and have a longer life-span. The Pro Preferred Series is a higher grade of leather than the Heart of the Hide Series, so typically it will have longer life-span and break-in period than the Heart of the Hide series.
Joe
Would this be a good all around glove? I play for fun, not in a league, but I want a quality glove. I have smaller hands for an adult and I am 5 foot 9 so I figured an 11.5 inch would work. bryan
The Rawlings Pro Preferred Series (PROS15MTBR) is a very nice model. The 11.5 inch size does not necessarily mean that it will be smaller in the way the glove fits on your hand. For general play, people generally like something a bit larger like a 12 inch model. This model would be more specific for an infielder.

Would you recommend this glove to a pitcher/infielder? AKS
The Rawlings Pro Preferred Series (PROS15MTBR) is better suited for a middle infielder but will also work well for a pitcher. The modified trapeze web will help hide the ball.

Can this be used for the outfield? J-03
I would say that the 11.50" length of this Rawlings Pro Preferred Series (PROS15MTBR) would make it too small for use in the outfield by a high school aged player.
Ben
Is there a similar colorway in an 11.75" or 12"? garza
In the 11.75" size, there is the Rawlings Pro Preferred Series (PROS17ICBR). There is also the Rawlings Pro Preferred Series (PROS1175-15RT), which has a similar colorway but not the exact same as the glove depicted. Unfortunately at this time, in the 12" size, we do not have any models available. We apologize for the inconvenience.

What is the equivalent glove to PROS27HF? Bill
This Rawlings Pro Preferred Series (PROS15MTBR) will not be very comparable to the Pro Preferred (PROS27HF). This PROS15MTBR is 11.5" in length and will be designed for infield use while the PROS27HF is 12.75" in length and designed for outfield. The closest model we are offering in comparison to the PROS27HF is the Rawlings Pro Preferred Series (PROS303B). The PROS303B is a 12.75" glove with an H-Webbing (however, it does not have the fast back design like the PROS27HF).

Which pro preferred glove is most similar to the Pros15mtbr now that it is discontinued? Jake
I would say that the 2017 Rawlings Pro Preferred 11.5" Baseball Glove (PROS204-4C) is the most similar to the Rawlings Pro Preferred Series (PROS15MTBR).

Is this color bruciato? Sean
No, the Rawlings Pro Preferred Series: PROS15MTBR does not feature the bruciato colorway. This is more of a traditional brown colorway.

About the Brand

Rawlings is a major manufacturer of competitive team sports equipment and apparel for baseball, basketball, and football, as well as licensed MLB, NFL, and NCAA retail products. Rawlings is a major supplier to professional, collegiate, interscholastic, and amateur organizations worldwide, including the Official Baseball Supplier to Major League Baseball.

The first real innovation in glove making occurred in 1912 when Rawlings Sporting Goods Company introduced the "Sure Catch" glove, which was "endorsed by leading players all over the country." The Sure Catch was a one-piece glove with sewn-in finger channels and looked better suited for a duck's foot than a man's hand. Catchers' mitts used at the time were large and bulky with a single leather thong passing for a web.

In 1920, Bill Doak, a journeyman pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, approached Rawlings with an idea for improving the baseball glove from a mere protective device to a genuine aid in fielding. The "Bill Doak" model was so revolutionary that it stayed in Rawlings' line until 1953. Its key feature was a multi-thong web laced into the first finger and thumb, which created for the first time in baseball's young life, a natural pocket.

In 1925, Rawlings unveiled a three-fingered fielder's glove, and ten years later improved the Bill Doak model with a two-piece leather web. At the same time, the "T" web became a rage for first basemen's mitts. The pocket underwent a pronounced change in 1941 when the Trapper Mitt, also known as the Claw, appeared. The "Deep Well" pocket was so unique that Rawlings quickly patented it. The design was improved in 1950 by adding a leather piece across the top. Another significant creation occurred in 1948 with the three-fingered Playmaker. A five-fingered fielder's model, with all fingers laced together, provided greater pocket control.

The six-fingered Trap-Eze evolved in the 1960's. In more recent years, Rawlings produced the Fastback design, which gives a glove a snugger fit, greater extension, and overall control. The Holdster is a slot through which a finger can be extended for additional protection from impacts on the pocket. Then, there is the Edge-U-Cated Heel with its extended U-shaped lacing and the Pro H Web and much-copied Basket Web.

Some of Rawlings's more recent glove innovations also include the unique Spin-Stopper design which reduces ball spin when the ball hits the glove, and the Cantilever glove design feature that provides a cushioned area between the hand and the glove's palm area. In all, Rawlings has produced and patented more functionally innovative glove features and designs than that of any other glove manufacturer. The result is that the modern baseball glove is much larger, more comfortable, better padded, and made to last far longer than its ancestors. It is not uncommon to see today's Major League players wearing the same Rawlings glove they wore during their college playing days. In fact, Rawlings is the #1 glove in the major leagues. Rawlings maintains about 65 models of baseball and softball mitts and gloves in its line. The prototypes of virtually all of them have been field-tested by professionals before entering a sporting goods dealer's inventory.
