Description

The Rawlings Primo Series combines quality and innovation to produce a new standard in the world of baseball gloves. This finely crafted Primo glove is the ultimate choice for baseball's elite and soon-to-be elite. Primo is truly a masterpiece of design. Born in the Tuscany region of Italy, European full-grain leather is marked by a tight grain structure allowing for a flawless appearance. These gloves consist of two layers of the richest in Italian leather work together to create a pocket built for maximum performance and to provide durability and comfort. Strategically placed break points allow the glove to close according to your position`s demands. Additionally, hand sewn welting is placed along the outside of the glove eliminating the conjoining leather piece that would normally rub against your thumb. The third layer of Italian calf lining creates a luxuriously smooth feel unlike any other while the 100% wool padding adds an extra layer of cushion. Comfort without losing function. Primo leather and lacing undergoes an intensive hot-stuffed injection treatment that repels water and ensures durability. Additionally, the laces are tested to 100# tensile strength, creating a shape that endures all conditions. Finally, the Primo gloves provide superior comfort. The inner palm and lining adjust to the shape of the outer palm in order to absorb the impact of the ball. Free Shipping!

Pros: Just got this glove, and the quality is amazing! I can tell this thing is going to last me forever, it's a bit stiff, but the leather is ver beautiful. Overall the glove looks great, and I can't wait until it is broken in and ready for play!

Cons: Not really a con, but the glove doesn't smell like your average ballglove, smells more like a purse or a pair of leather shoes made from fine leather.

Pros: Quite simply, the incomparable quality of the fine Italian leather and superlative workmanship employed in the Rawlings PRM1200's manufacture is second to none. By examining the exceptional attention to detail of this glove, it is readily apparent that the PRM1200 was truly designed and manufactured to be real player's glove in every respect, and, with occasional conditioning, could be readily passed on and contentedly used as a proverbial heirloom by anyone who has ever longed for an unrivaled glove. Right from the onset, the PRM1200 fits and feels great, presumably due to the model's integrated Dual Core Technology with its strategically placed break points, and, over time, becomes even more comfortable with further use. As the name Primo implies, perhaps this glove is not for everyone, but for those who have the means, the discernable differences between this glove and its counterparts are truly significant.

Cons: None thus far.

Pros: This is the best infield/pitcher glove on the market. Easy to break in but does not get to flimsy. Retains shape no matter what you do with it. It is definitely the best Rawlings glove there is. You definitely get your money's worth.

Cons: It's a little heavy. Although it's a little pricey you get your money's worth. Every guy on your team will want to use it.

Pros: Far the best glove ever. I play for team Rawlings travel team and I got this at a turnement in Florida. Had it for a day and already starting to break in. Leather is perfect. Craftmanship is the best. I wouldn't suggest any glove. Little bit heavy when first purchased but once broken in not at all. Over all best in the world

Cons: Non. It's the perfect glove

Coach Juan

Pros: You pay for what you get- the best glove on the market. After about a year of researching different leathers, I decided to go with the Italian Calf Leather featured in the Primo. Italian leather is nearly unmatched in durability, quality, and style. You should also notice that it is layered twice with this great leather. The 12' is great for utility but especially built for pitchers for concealing the ball as well as flashing some impressive leather in front of the batters face before they roll over on your off speed.

Cons: No cons. Before you purchase this glove you should know that the leather is built so that you invest some time into making it unique to your hand for decades of use.

Pros: This glove was pretty to easy to break in. I've been long tossing for about a week and the glove just keeps improving as far as the softness of the leather. Also, I looked at other comments saying that this glove was "heavy". Honestly, it's not. I transferred from a Rawlings Gold Glove 12'' and the Primo is much, much lighter.

Cons: Really none.

Questions and Answers

Hi Could this glove be used for softball? cheers. Midget
There's nothing that says it can't be used for softball. Personally, I would want a slightly larger glove that's a littler easier to break in. This will be a very high quality glove that will take some time to break in.
Jeff
Despite the fact that Rawlings has made a bona fide effort to promote its new, patented Dual Core Technology, which it merely defines as incorporated position specific break points in the glove pattern so one can outperform the demands of the position one is playing, I am not really certain of the actual benefits that I will reap from having a glove with Dual Core Technology. Please advise me accordingly. N747JS
The Dual Core gloves produced by Rawlings feature an interior layer of leather in the palm of the glove with, like you said, position specific break points to help the player properly break their glove in depending on their position. A middle infielders glove will be designed to break in with more of a shallow pocket, an outfielders glove will be designed to break in with a deeper pocket. A benefit of this is that the interior piece of leather with the break points is only in the palm of the glove and is not in the fingers or heel of the glove. This will help decrease the overall weight of the glove and will help the player break the glove in easier as there is not an additional piece of leather throughout the entire glove. It may not be as beneficial to an experienced ball player who knows how to break in their glove, or doesn"t mind a slightly longer break-in period. However, it does provide some benefits…may not be major benefits, but I feel it helps nonetheless.
TJ
Is it good, because I like good gloves. Little league catcher
Yes, this is a very good glove. This is one of the best gloves on the market and uses one of the best leathers on the market, the European full-grain leather from Italy.
Brett
how heavy is this glove? dgdffcv
This glove will weigh around 25.8 ounces (give or take a tenth of an ounce).
Brett
Just bought a brand new Primo, because of the fact that it is such a premium glove, I am wondering what the BEST way to break it in is? Without shortening glove life. -Thank you woodlands8

How can I break it in? Is it possible i\to break it in in two weeks. Patrick
The best way to break in a glove is to let a pitching machine throw you ball after ball as fast as you can take it until it is broken in.
Zach
I'm 11 and want a 12 inch basket web Rawlings is this a good glove for me. I have a lot of muscle so it will get broken in properly ??? Vinnie
The Rawlings Primo Series: PRM1200 will be a great glove for you. The leather used in the Rawlings Primo Series is very high quality and will break-in properly regardless of size of the player that is using the glove.
Tom
What is the big deal with buying an expensive glove? I play with a glove that I got for $40 and I still make the same great plays that I would make with this glove. Salad
While it is true that the glove does not make the player, a more expensive glove is going to be more durable and will have a more custom fit once it's broken in. More expensive gloves are made with a higher quality leather that should last for several seasons.
Nick D
What glove would be better for an infield/outfield glove between the 12 inch and the 11.5 drew
The Rawlings Primo Series: PRM1200 is an infield/pitcher glove model. But at 12" you would still love it as an outfielder. For multiple positions I would go with the 12".
Brandon
What is better this glove or the Mizuno Pro Limited? ebcty13
The Rawlings Primo: PRM1200 and the Mizuno Pro Limited are the top of line for each respective manufacture. You can't go wrong with either glove. The Mizuno Pro Limited is made from kip leather, for a slightly softer feel.
Kara
Is this glove suitable for fastpitch? I am an adult player. Thanks. adrian
The Rawlings Primo Series: PRM1200 is a baseball glove. It will not have a large enough pocket for a softball. We recommend the Rawlings Heart Of The Hide Dual Core Series: PRO12SBDC Fastpitch Mitt.
Kara
Which glove is heavier? The Pro Preferred 12" or the Primo one. Can you put the exact amount each one weighs? adog113
The Rawlings Primo Series (PRM1200) will be a heavier leather material compared to the Rawlings Pro Preferred Series. The manufacturers do not list the weights of each glove unfortunately.
Brandon
When do you plan to get more of this item in stock? matt
We do have a new shipment of the Rawlings Primo Series (PRM1200) inline. This process can typically take 2-4 weeks as we are waiting for the manufacturer to fill the order.
Gary T.
What is the best way to break in the Primo Glove? It is taking me a long time; over 4 months and still not worked in. What should I do to speed up the process? What do I need to apply to glove to make loose and flexible? Phil
The best way to break in the Rawlings Primo Series (PRM1200) is by applying glove oil and playing catch.

About the Brand

Rawlings is a major manufacturer of competitive team sports equipment and apparel for baseball, basketball, and football, as well as licensed MLB, NFL, and NCAA retail products. Rawlings is a major supplier to professional, collegiate, interscholastic, and amateur organizations worldwide, including the Official Baseball Supplier to Major League Baseball.

The first real innovation in glove making occurred in 1912 when Rawlings Sporting Goods Company introduced the "Sure Catch" glove, which was "endorsed by leading players all over the country." The Sure Catch was a one-piece glove with sewn-in finger channels and looked better suited for a duck's foot than a man's hand. Catchers' mitts used at the time were large and bulky with a single leather thong passing for a web.

In 1920, Bill Doak, a journeyman pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, approached Rawlings with an idea for improving the baseball glove from a mere protective device to a genuine aid in fielding. The "Bill Doak" model was so revolutionary that it stayed in Rawlings' line until 1953. Its key feature was a multi-thong web laced into the first finger and thumb, which created for the first time in baseball's young life, a natural pocket.

In 1925, Rawlings unveiled a three-fingered fielder's glove, and ten years later improved the Bill Doak model with a two-piece leather web. At the same time, the "T" web became a rage for first basemen's mitts. The pocket underwent a pronounced change in 1941 when the Trapper Mitt, also known as the Claw, appeared. The "Deep Well" pocket was so unique that Rawlings quickly patented it. The design was improved in 1950 by adding a leather piece across the top. Another significant creation occurred in 1948 with the three-fingered Playmaker. A five-fingered fielder's model, with all fingers laced together, provided greater pocket control.

The six-fingered Trap-Eze evolved in the 1960's. In more recent years, Rawlings produced the Fastback design, which gives a glove a snugger fit, greater extension, and overall control. The Holdster is a slot through which a finger can be extended for additional protection from impacts on the pocket. Then, there is the Edge-U-Cated Heel with its extended U-shaped lacing and the Pro H Web and much-copied Basket Web.

Some of Rawlings's more recent glove innovations also include the unique Spin-Stopper design which reduces ball spin when the ball hits the glove, and the Cantilever glove design feature that provides a cushioned area between the hand and the glove's palm area. In all, Rawlings has produced and patented more functionally innovative glove features and designs than that of any other glove manufacturer. The result is that the modern baseball glove is much larger, more comfortable, better padded, and made to last far longer than its ancestors. It is not uncommon to see today's Major League players wearing the same Rawlings glove they wore during their college playing days. In fact, Rawlings is the #1 glove in the major leagues. Rawlings maintains about 65 models of baseball and softball mitts and gloves in its line. The prototypes of virtually all of them have been field-tested by professionals before entering a sporting goods dealer's inventory.
