Pros: great high quality leather, very durable, easy break in, great price, biggest pro for me was the high quality lacing if you are a middle infielder who likes trapeze webs but hates when the web pushes back making a deep pocket this is the perfect glove for you. i practice 6 days a week for the past 3 months and web is loose enough to hold the ball tightly but stiff enough so it doesnt create a deep pocket.

Cons: the glove is much heavier then my friends pro preferred, a2k, and a2000... that is the only reason i gave it 4 out of 5

Pros: Nice glove, still in the breaking in process. Had to treat it with oil twice, and let sit 48 hours to soften up the leather in order for my 8 year old to close the glove, after that it's starting to break in nice. Leather has that pro snap sound when the ball is caught. Overall a great glove, very important to make sure y'all break it in the right way.

Cons: Hard for my son to squeeze it right out the bag, had to really work the glove oil in to soften up the leather.

Cons: A2000 leather is more durable. But this leather is fresher and won't dry out.

Baseball dude

Pros: It's great leather with a great feel, even on the first day I got it the glove had a slight break In even though it was brand new. The dual core series is meant to break in easy and last for a long time so this glove succeeds in both, great choice with not too high of a price.

Cons: None yet, but I'll wait till the season is over before I have a conclusion.

Yes, this would be a great glove for a pitcher. Most infielders use an 11.00-11.50 inch gloves. This is going to be a glove that will last a long time as long as the upkeep for the glove is good. We have heard nothing but good things about this glove.

Would it be a good idea to flare this glove if I play left infield? Dom
It will really depend on personal preference. Most infielders prefer a tighter pocket so they can transfer the ball quicker.
Kara
My son plays middle infield and pitches some. I was considering this glove over the 202DCC to hide his grip better while pitching. With the lace color, is this glove legal for pitching? Any suggestions if that is a problem? Glove?
Many glove rules like that vary from league to league. I had a glove similar to this one when I was younger, and I never had any issues, except for one tourny we played in. You should be good, but I would double check with your coach or league official.
Tyler
I play 2nd base mostly and I have an A2000 and I don't really like the I-web, would the modified trap be the next best thing for 2nd? Baseballboy
Most infielders prefer the I-Web or Modified Trapeze Web.
KB
I play middle infield and I was wondering if this was a good glove for me? I am 11 dnation
Based on your age and position, a 11 or 11.25 inch glove would be the most common size. A 11.5 may be a little too big right now, but you can definitely use it and grow into it for sure. And it shouldn't be too big
Tyler
Can this be used in the outfield and for pitcher? SeanMorris15
This glove will be more for infield and pitcher play. Most outfield gloves are 12.00-12.75. Infield gloves are 11.00-11.75. I suggest looking at a bigger glove for outfield and pitcher players.
Kris
What is better do you think for a 12 year old short stop/ 2nd baseman/pitcher. Pro preferred or Heart of the Hide? dude man dude
The Rawlings Heart of the Hide Dual Core Series will feel slightly heavier than the Heart of the Hide and Pro Preferred. The weight might be too much for a younger player. All three are top of line gloves with high quality leather and are very durable.
Kara
Hi I play second base on a high school freshmen team right now. I am currently using a 11.75 Louisville Slugger Omaha Flare and I was wondering if I should go smaller and how long would this glove last me on a year to year basis? chs_freshmen
Thank you for your question. If you are playing second base I would recommend that you move down to a 11.25-11.50 inch glove. It will be a little smaller, but it will allow you to get the ball out of your glove quicker. The Rawlings Heart Of The Hide Dual Core Series will be very durable and last a long time if taken care of properly.
Nick

The modified trapese webbing and the I webbing will be relatively the same as far as performance goes. The style of webbing is really up to personal preference.

The Rawlings Heart Of The Hide Dual Core Series: PRO204DCC glove will be an 11.50" model. Typically, 11.50" glove models work best for middle infielders. Third Basemen use an 11.75". Then Pitchers can go up to a 12". This glove could be used at all three positions if you are someone who may like a smaller glove. The pocket depth and webbing will also be slightly more shallow.

No. The Rawlings Heart Of The Hide Dual Core Series: PRO204DCC is in Rawlings' 2012 line.

The best way to break-in the Rawlings Heart Of The Hide Dual Core Series: PRO204DCC is to apply a light coat of glove oil. Play a lot of catch to break-in the pocket. We also provide a Glove Care Kit that can be a great help in the glove break-in process. It comes with large rubber bands, oil, a small mallet, an applicator, a ball to help shape the glove, also instructions will be provided.
Brandon
I really like this glove. I'm wondering if you have it in 11.75 or 12.00? Fish
Yes, we do have the Rawlings Heart of the Hide Dual Core Series in a 12.00" model with the same modified trapeze glove pattern.
Noah
I am a high school player who plays infield and pitches. Do you think I should get the pro204dcc or the pro204dm? nathan
Both the Rawlings Heart Of The Hide Dual Core Series: PRO204DCC and the Rawlings Heart of the Hide Pro Mesh Series: PRO204DM glove are going to be very similar. The major difference is that the Heart of the Hide Pro Mesh Series glove will have a lighter weight and it will be more game ready. The break-in time will be shorter. Both gloves are very good for infield play.
Robert
I am 15 Years old, about 5' 10" and near 150 lbs. I'm trying to find a new glove from my old Easton. What size for this glove would be a good fit for me? Henry
If you're an infielder, I would go with the 11.50" or 11.75" Rawlings Heart Of The Hide Dual Core Series glove. If you're an outfielder, I would lean more toward the 12.50" model.
Marcus
I play 2nd Base, Shortstop, Third Base, and Outfield. I am very small for a 15 year old (5'6" and 110 lbs). I have extremely small hands, therefore I tend to like smaller gloves. Would this be a good glove for me? Brendan
The Rawlings Heart Of The Hide Dual Core Series: PRO204DCC should work for you at 2nd Base and Shortstop. In a pinch, it will work at 3rd and in the Outfield. Typically those positions call for larger gloves though.
Kevin
How much does the factory break in the glove? bill
The Rawlings Heart Of The Hide Dual Core Series: PRO204DCC comes to you with a softer, game ready feel, and Rawling's Dual Core technology allows you a position-specific break-in.
Katie
Does this glove come more broken-in than the Nokona Buckaroo series? Ben
The Rawlings Heart Of The Hide Dual Core Series: PRO204DCC features a game ready feel, and should require less of a break-in period than the Nokona Buckaroo Series.
Mac
i am 12 years old and am looking for a good glove for middle infield. Should I get this glove or should I get an A2000 1786? jordy perez
The Rawlings Heart of The Hide Dual Core Series: PRO204DCC would be a little big for a twelve year old middle infielder. We recommend the Rawlings Heart of the Hide Solid Core Series: PRO112SC.
Kara
Hi, I'm 16 and I play competitive baseball at 2nd base and I just bought this glove in 11 1/4, i'm worried its a bit too big or is that a good size? Do any major league infielders use this glove or an 11 inch etc. heart of the hide. Brett
The Rawlings Heart of the Hide Dual Core Series 11.25" is ideal for the middle infielder. Generally the middle infielders will use a 11"-11.25" models. Quite a few Major Leaguers use the Rawlings Heart of the Hide line but most of them are customized to fit the players wishes.
John
I am 14 and I play second base but like to have a deeper pocket unlike most infielders. Would you recommend a 11.25" or 11.5" HOH? jeremy
If you like a deeper pocket, the 11.50" Rawlings Heart of the Hide Dual Core Series: PRO204DCC would be the best option.
Kara
Good for a 10 year old playing first, third and outfield on a club team and travel team? Sean
The Rawlings Heart of the Hide Dual Core would be better suited for infield play or pitching. If you did have to choose only 1 high quality glove to play all of those positions, then I would recommend this one.
Justin R.
I am a 15 year old in high school playing JV baseball. I play shortstop, second base, and pitcher. I currently have an 11.25 inch glove that I like a lot, but it has begun to feel small. I have very very big hands. Can a middle infielder use the 11.5 inch or would it be too cumbersome while turning double plays and such? Joe
The Rawlings Heart of the Hide Dual Core Series (PRO204DCC) is an excellent model for a middle infielder. The 11.50" pattern would not cause any issues, weight or size wise, while trying to turn double plays. A good amount of middle infielders, 15 and up, use 11.50" gloves.
Jason
I am a 16-year-old in high school. I am a 3rd baseman and enjoy using an 11.75" glove. I play for the school and I also play travel ball (year round player) What glove would be best for me? Heart of the Hide or Pro Preferred? LIVE,LOVE,SLEEP BASEBALL
Either a Heart of the Hide or Pro Proferred mitt would work well for you. However, if you wanted the mitt with slightly higher quality leather, the Pro Preferred would be the series to purchase. This Rawlings Heart of the Hide Dual Core Series (PRO204DCC) features an 11.50" length, so I might consider forgoing this mitt since you wish to have an 11.75" mitt. A mitt to consider is the following: (2017 Rawlings Pro Preferred 11.75" Baseball Glove: PROSNP5-2C).

About the Brand

Rawlings is a major manufacturer of competitive team sports equipment and apparel for baseball, basketball, and football, as well as licensed MLB, NFL, and NCAA retail products. Rawlings is a major supplier to professional, collegiate, interscholastic, and amateur organizations worldwide, including the Official Baseball Supplier to Major League Baseball.

The first real innovation in glove making occurred in 1912 when Rawlings Sporting Goods Company introduced the "Sure Catch" glove, which was "endorsed by leading players all over the country." The Sure Catch was a one-piece glove with sewn-in finger channels and looked better suited for a duck's foot than a man's hand. Catchers' mitts used at the time were large and bulky with a single leather thong passing for a web.

In 1920, Bill Doak, a journeyman pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, approached Rawlings with an idea for improving the baseball glove from a mere protective device to a genuine aid in fielding. The "Bill Doak" model was so revolutionary that it stayed in Rawlings' line until 1953. Its key feature was a multi-thong web laced into the first finger and thumb, which created for the first time in baseball's young life, a natural pocket.

In 1925, Rawlings unveiled a three-fingered fielder's glove, and ten years later improved the Bill Doak model with a two-piece leather web. At the same time, the "T" web became a rage for first basemen's mitts. The pocket underwent a pronounced change in 1941 when the Trapper Mitt, also known as the Claw, appeared. The "Deep Well" pocket was so unique that Rawlings quickly patented it. The design was improved in 1950 by adding a leather piece across the top. Another significant creation occurred in 1948 with the three-fingered Playmaker. A five-fingered fielder's model, with all fingers laced together, provided greater pocket control.

The six-fingered Trap-Eze evolved in the 1960's. In more recent years, Rawlings produced the Fastback design, which gives a glove a snugger fit, greater extension, and overall control. The Holdster is a slot through which a finger can be extended for additional protection from impacts on the pocket. Then, there is the Edge-U-Cated Heel with its extended U-shaped lacing and the Pro H Web and much-copied Basket Web.

Some of Rawlings's more recent glove innovations also include the unique Spin-Stopper design which reduces ball spin when the ball hits the glove, and the Cantilever glove design feature that provides a cushioned area between the hand and the glove's palm area. In all, Rawlings has produced and patented more functionally innovative glove features and designs than that of any other glove manufacturer. The result is that the modern baseball glove is much larger, more comfortable, better padded, and made to last far longer than its ancestors. It is not uncommon to see today's Major League players wearing the same Rawlings glove they wore during their college playing days. In fact, Rawlings is the #1 glove in the major leagues. Rawlings maintains about 65 models of baseball and softball mitts and gloves in its line. The prototypes of virtually all of them have been field-tested by professionals before entering a sporting goods dealer's inventory.
