Does it take long to break in? Ball mom
The break-in period on the Rawlings Heart Of The Hide Dual Core Series (PRO202DCB) will be less than previous models of the Heart of the Hide Series. Break-in will be minimal because the newer gloves feature a leather that is tan softer but features the same durability you can expect out of the Heart of the Hide Series.
Patrick
Would this be a good glove for my 12 year old son who plays 3rd base? Jesus
The Rawlings Heart Of The Hide Dual Core Series (PRO202DCB) would be a great size and great quality glove for a 3rd baseman.
Patrick
Will this glove get really flimsy? How heavy is it compared to other gloves? Joe_Pergo
The Rawlings Heart Of The Hide Dual Core Series (PRO202DCB) is an average weighted glove. The specialized padding saves some weight to the overall design. The Heart of the Hide leather will be somewhat game ready coming to you but would maintain its shape well over time and should not feel flimsy if taken care of.
Patrick
How much does this glove weigh? Edward
The Rawlings Heart Of The Hide Dual Core Series (PRO202DCB) does not have a weight featured. I would contact Rawlings at this number to find out: 1-800-729-5464.
Brandon

John
How does this glove compare to a Wilson A2000? Matthew
The Rawlings Heart o the Hide Dual Core Series (PRO202DCB) will be very similar to Wilson's A2000 line. The Wilson A2000 will be slightly stiffer compared to the Heart of the Hides.
John
Will this glove get floppy faster than the other Heart Of The hide gloves, such as the Rawlings Heart of the Hide Series: PRONP2JB? I hear this glove is "softer" than the other Heart of the Hides. So will this make the overall durability worse? Mitch
While the Rawlings Heart Of The Hide Dual Core Series (PRO202DCB) is more game ready out of the box than some of the previous Heart of the Hide models, the durability is still similar. The glove should retain its shape well if taken care of properly while not in use.
Patrick
Which model for the Rawlings Heart Of The Hide Dual Core Series would be better for a travel ball short stop player? This one with the I-web, or the one with the Trapeze web? David
This Rawlings Heart Of The Hide Dual Core Series (PRO202DCB) and its I-web will be the more popular choice for a short stop. Either glove would be a great choice, but this one would be the one more short stops go with.
Brandon
Would it be good for a third baseman? I'm 17. chris
Yes, the Rawlings Heart Of The Hide Dual Core Series (PRO202DCB) would be a great option for any infielder with the 11.50" pattern size and I-Web design. Third basemen your age typically use larger gloves (11.75" to 12.25"), but this would still be a good option.
Mac
You don't have this, and I'm looking to buy. wyatt

Brandon
Would this glove be good for my 12 year old shortstop son? Should I be looking for a youth model? Marc
The Rawlings Heart Of The Hide Dual Core Series (PRO202DCB) is an excellent option for a 12 year old. Typically, around the age of 12 is when players start moving into adult gloves.
Jason
I am a 15 year old third baseman. What size do you recommend? Connor
I would suggest either an 11.50" glove like the Rawlings Heart Of The Hide Dual Core Series (PRO202DCB)
Jake
What makes the Heart of the Hide and the Pro Preferred gloves so expensive? wolf
The Rawlings Heart Of The Hide Dual Core Series (PRO202DCB) features a high leather grade. The purchase price of the glove will be determined by the grade of leather used. Higher grades of leather are far more expensive, additionally, they tend to be more durable and keep their structure long-term. Typically, "pro-stock" leather cuts will last you three to four years or longer in some cases with proper care and storage.
Joe
I can't decide between the PRON5TLB and the PRO202DCB. Which is better for a 17 year old third basemen and why? johnny baseball
I am not familiar with the (PRON5TLB) model but the Rawlings Heart Of The Hide Dual Core Series (PRO202DCB) would work well for play at third base and would be a very nice option for that age and level of play.
Patrick
After playing second base for a long time, even after moving to center field, I prefer shorter gloves. I am now playing adult league slow pitch softball. Will this glove be too short? I am mostly wondering about the pocket. Danny
The 11.5 inch pattern of the Rawlings Heart Of The Hide Dual Core Series (PRO202DCB) would be, in general, too small for softball play.

About the Brand

Rawlings is a major manufacturer of competitive team sports equipment and apparel for baseball, basketball, and football, as well as licensed MLB, NFL, and NCAA retail products. Rawlings is a major supplier to professional, collegiate, interscholastic, and amateur organizations worldwide, including the Official Baseball Supplier to Major League Baseball.

The first real innovation in glove making occurred in 1912 when Rawlings Sporting Goods Company introduced the "Sure Catch" glove, which was "endorsed by leading players all over the country." The Sure Catch was a one-piece glove with sewn-in finger channels and looked better suited for a duck's foot than a man's hand. Catchers' mitts used at the time were large and bulky with a single leather thong passing for a web.

In 1920, Bill Doak, a journeyman pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, approached Rawlings with an idea for improving the baseball glove from a mere protective device to a genuine aid in fielding. The "Bill Doak" model was so revolutionary that it stayed in Rawlings' line until 1953. Its key feature was a multi-thong web laced into the first finger and thumb, which created for the first time in baseball's young life, a natural pocket.

In 1925, Rawlings unveiled a three-fingered fielder's glove, and ten years later improved the Bill Doak model with a two-piece leather web. At the same time, the "T" web became a rage for first basemen's mitts. The pocket underwent a pronounced change in 1941 when the Trapper Mitt, also known as the Claw, appeared. The "Deep Well" pocket was so unique that Rawlings quickly patented it. The design was improved in 1950 by adding a leather piece across the top. Another significant creation occurred in 1948 with the three-fingered Playmaker. A five-fingered fielder's model, with all fingers laced together, provided greater pocket control.

The six-fingered Trap-Eze evolved in the 1960's. In more recent years, Rawlings produced the Fastback design, which gives a glove a snugger fit, greater extension, and overall control. The Holdster is a slot through which a finger can be extended for additional protection from impacts on the pocket. Then, there is the Edge-U-Cated Heel with its extended U-shaped lacing and the Pro H Web and much-copied Basket Web.

Some of Rawlings's more recent glove innovations also include the unique Spin-Stopper design which reduces ball spin when the ball hits the glove, and the Cantilever glove design feature that provides a cushioned area between the hand and the glove's palm area. In all, Rawlings has produced and patented more functionally innovative glove features and designs than that of any other glove manufacturer. The result is that the modern baseball glove is much larger, more comfortable, better padded, and made to last far longer than its ancestors. It is not uncommon to see today's Major League players wearing the same Rawlings glove they wore during their college playing days. In fact, Rawlings is the #1 glove in the major leagues. Rawlings maintains about 65 models of baseball and softball mitts and gloves in its line. The prototypes of virtually all of them have been field-tested by professionals before entering a sporting goods dealer's inventory.
