Description

Rawlings is the #1 glove in the major leagues. Rawlings maintains about 65 models of baseball and softball mitts and gloves in its line. The prototypes of virtually all of them have been field tested by professionals before entering a sporting goods dealer's inventory. The GG Gamer XLE Pro Mesh Series features the "V" Web pattern, which is a "V" post reinforced bottom web that conforms to a smaller lighter web pattern desired by infielders, this allows you to better shape the pocket. With its 11 1/4" pattern and shallow pocket, this baseball glove is primarily an infielders baseball glove, especially for those up the middle at the Short Stop and 2nd base position. The mesh backing gives you a lightweight glove that gives you full feel of the ball and also features PORON XRD impact absorption padding for added support and durability. With Rawlings pro patterns, pro grade laces, and pro soft leather, this series is ideal for the player looking for a game-ready glove in the same pattern as their favorite pro player. Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Rawlings GG Gamer XLE Pro Mesh Pro Taper Series: G110PTLE? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

Is this a youth size? My son is 11 and plays second base on a select travel team. Ed
While it's not technically a Youth-specific pattern, the Rawlings GG Gamer XLE Pro Mesh Series (G110PTLE) would be a good choice for that age and position. At 11 years old, the fit on his hand should be good. And the 11.00" pattern size would be a good choice for a middle infielder.
Mac
Does this glove have smaller hand slots for Youth players? How hard will it be to break-in? jg42122
The Rawlings GG Gamer XLE Pro Mesh Series (G110PTLE) should provide a good fit for the majority of Youth players. With the mesh material on the back, this model will not require much effort toward the break-in. A normal GG Gamer model only requires about 10% of the break-in from the player, and this model will require slightly less.
Mac
My son is 9 and currently wears an 11" Mizuno Prospect. Is this glove the same size and fit as an 11" Mizuno? jg42122
The Mizuno Prospect Series comes in Adult sizing and Youth sizing. A Prospect Youth glove will have a tighter wrist opening and finger stalls when compared to an Adult model at the same size. The Rawlings GG Gamer XLE Pro Mesh Series (G110PTLE) should also be a good model to fit most youth players. It is very comfortable and breaks in very easily.

Does this fit like a "Heart of the Hide Pro Taper Series" or is it a larger fit? My son is turning 11, but his hands are a little on the small side. I was thinking of getting this 11 inch size or the 10 3/4 inch. This is listed as an 11 inch but in the description it says 11 1/4. My son plays tournament ball and needs a higher end glove. I am trying to decide between the Rawlings GG XLE Pro Mesh Series in 11 inch or 10 3/4 inch, or the 11 inch Akadema Prodigy Series: AZR95-12 Youth and the Vinci Pro Custom Pro Junior Series: BRV1953 Youth 11 inch. bbdad
The Rawlings GG Gamer XLE Pro Mesh Series (G110PTLE) will have a larger more adult style fit than the Pro Taper designs. It is an 11 inch size. The Akadema Prodigy Series (AZR95-12) or the Vinci Pro Custom Pro Junior Series (BRV1953) would feature a smaller fit to secure for a smaller hand better and would both be high end models that would work for that level of play.

Why is a left hand thrower model not available? Mike
The Rawlings GG Gamer XLE Pro Mesh Series (G110PTLE) has not been made available to us in a left handed thrower version so we do not have it available on the site. Rawlings has not indicated why they did not offer this model for a lefty but it may be because it is considered primarily a middle infielders glove which is a position not commonly played by a lefty, but I cannot be sure.
Patrick
Does this glove come in a 11.5" size? kwags
The 11.50 inch pattern will be the Rawlings GG Gamer XLE Pro Mesh Series (G1150DJLE)
Joe

About the Brand

Rawlings is a major manufacturer of competitive team sports equipment and apparel for baseball, basketball, and football, as well as licensed MLB, NFL, and NCAA retail products. Rawlings is a major supplier to professional, collegiate, interscholastic, and amateur organizations worldwide, including the Official Baseball Supplier to Major League Baseball.

The first real innovation in glove making occurred in 1912 when Rawlings Sporting Goods Company introduced the "Sure Catch" glove, which was "endorsed by leading players all over the country." The Sure Catch was a one-piece glove with sewn-in finger channels and looked better suited for a duck's foot than a man's hand. Catchers' mitts used at the time were large and bulky with a single leather thong passing for a web.

In 1920, Bill Doak, a journeyman pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, approached Rawlings with an idea for improving the baseball glove from a mere protective device to a genuine aid in fielding. The "Bill Doak" model was so revolutionary that it stayed in Rawlings' line until 1953. Its key feature was a multi-thong web laced into the first finger and thumb, which created for the first time in baseball's young life, a natural pocket.

In 1925, Rawlings unveiled a three-fingered fielder's glove, and ten years later improved the Bill Doak model with a two-piece leather web. At the same time, the "T" web became a rage for first basemen's mitts. The pocket underwent a pronounced change in 1941 when the Trapper Mitt, also known as the Claw, appeared. The "Deep Well" pocket was so unique that Rawlings quickly patented it. The design was improved in 1950 by adding a leather piece across the top. Another significant creation occurred in 1948 with the three-fingered Playmaker. A five-fingered fielder's model, with all fingers laced together, provided greater pocket control.

The six-fingered Trap-Eze evolved in the 1960's. In more recent years, Rawlings produced the Fastback design, which gives a glove a snugger fit, greater extension, and overall control. The Holdster is a slot through which a finger can be extended for additional protection from impacts on the pocket. Then, there is the Edge-U-Cated Heel with its extended U-shaped lacing and the Pro H Web and much-copied Basket Web.

Some of Rawlings's more recent glove innovations also include the unique Spin-Stopper design which reduces ball spin when the ball hits the glove, and the Cantilever glove design feature that provides a cushioned area between the hand and the glove's palm area. In all, Rawlings has produced and patented more functionally innovative glove features and designs than that of any other glove manufacturer. The result is that the modern baseball glove is much larger, more comfortable, better padded, and made to last far longer than its ancestors. It is not uncommon to see today's Major League players wearing the same Rawlings glove they wore during their college playing days. In fact, Rawlings is the #1 glove in the major leagues. Rawlings maintains about 65 models of baseball and softball mitts and gloves in its line. The prototypes of virtually all of them have been field-tested by professionals before entering a sporting goods dealer's inventory.
