Pros: Beautiful glove that required a bit of additional work to break in, but was in game shape in very little time (which is to be expected with a new glove). I am a big fan of the Rawlings gloves and bought this one for my 12U son who is starting to work more in the outfield. If you are looking for a great outfielders glove, this is the one.

Cons: None so far

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Rawlings GG Gamer Series: G601GT? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

Is the Gamer XLE leather durable? King Orange
The Rawlings GG Gamer Series (G601GT) features leather that is more game ready out of the box so it may not be as durable as more premium models but, if taken care of, it should last quite a while.
Patrick
Does this glove have a warranty? Papi27
From Rawlings' site, it states "There is a 1-year warranty on all baseball and softball gloves. Our warranty does not cover gloves that have been microwaved, placed in an oven, or over oiled." This warranty would apply to the Rawlings GG Gamer Series (G601GT).
Patrick
how big is this glove. im 14 and 5,2 would this glove fit me well drew
The Rawlings GG Gamer Series (G601GT) is a 12.75 inch pattern and I would not suggest that size for you. I would recommend a 11.50" or even a 11.25" pattern. Here are the options to consider: Rawlings GG Gamer Series (G112GT), Rawlings GG Gamer Youth Pro Taper Series (G115PTMT), Rawlings GG Gamer Series (G115GT), and Rawlings GG Gamer Series (G200YGT).
Cameron
I am 13 and 5 foot 7. Would this glove or the Mizuno MVP Prime Series: GMVP1275P1 be a better fit for me in the outfield? Andrew
Either the Rawlings GG Gamer Series (G601GT) or the Mizuno MVP Prime Series (GMVP1275P1) would be nice options and should work well for you. The preference would come down to which style you prefer.
Patrick
I'm 10 years old, what size would you recommend? E
The size of glove you would need would be based off the positions you are playing as well as your preferences. The Rawlings GG Gamer Series (G601GT) would typically be a bit large for a player of your age. We would recommend going with something more around an 11 or 11.5 inch model with a youth fit.
Patrick
If this is based on the major league pattern how can it be 12.75 inches when MLB allows no more than a 12 inch measurement for all gloves except first baseman's and catcher's mitts? Marc
The Rawlings GG Gamer Series (G601GT) features patterns just like the pros wear, designed for each position: solid webs for pitchers, shallow pockets for middle infielders, and open webs for outfielders and infielders. That is what Rawlings means when it states this glove/series is based off of Rawlings' Authentic Professional Glove patterns.
Cameron
I am thinking about getting this glove or the 2016 Louisville Slugger Omaha Series 5 Royal. Which glove is better? cely
In regard to leather quality, this Rawlings GG Gamer Series (G601GT) will compare very similarly to the 2016 Louisville Slugger Omaha Series 5 Royal Baseball Glove in the same length. Since the quality will be the same, I would recommend going with the model of glove that has the more attractive colorway for you.
Ben
Does this glove (Rawlings GG Gamer Series: G601GT) have a deep well pocket? adam
Yes, at 12.75", this Rawlings GG Gamer Series (G601GT) will have a pretty deep pocket for use as a baseball outfielders mitt or for use in slowpitch softball.
Ben
I'm an adult looking for a new glove to play with my kids. I'm not looking for a huge pocket, but I do have big hands. What do you suggest? Norm
This Rawlings GG Gamer Series (G601GT) will come with a 12.75" length that will allow for a pretty large pocket overall. If you wanted something that will have a smaller pocket, but still be able to fit an adult hand, I would recommend the Rawlings GG Gamer Series (G1209GT) that comes with a 12" length.
Ben
I am 15, 5'7" and new to outfield. Would this glove be good for me as it is my first year of high school? After you break it in, is it flimsy or sturdy? pancho
The Rawlings GG Gamer Series: G601GT has a 12.75" pattern and it is a great option for an outfielder your age. The glove tends to hold its shape fairly well after it is broken in.
Jason
I'm an adult looking for a new glove for outfield. What would you suggest: G601GT-1275, G601B-1275, LS FGPRBN6-1275 Omaha Pure or LS FGOFBK6-1275 Omaha Flare? Is it necessary to use 12.75"? I play outfield only and use Rawlings 12.00" but I think about whether 12.00" is not too small for me. ed
There is no set size that an OF must use, it really comes down to personal preference. With that said, most adult outfielders will use a 12.50 inch or 12.75 inch pattern. The gloves that you mentioned are all very similar in design and construction with the exception of the 2016 Louisville Slugger Omaha Flare Baseball Glove: FGOFBK6-1275 and its flared thumb and pinkie finger stalls; this makes the glove have a slightly larger pocket opening.
Cameron
Hey, I'm 12, and around 5'2. would this be a good glove for me in the outfield? I usually only play like 5 games all year in left field so would this be worth it? Jet
The Rawlings GG Gamer Series: G601GT would be a great option for a 12 year old outfielder and it has the great price point of $69.99. If it is "worth it" would be a personal decision. But the glove is a great youth outfielders glove,
Carter
I'm 12, and around 5'2". Would this be a good glove for me in the outfield? I usually only play like 5 games all year in left field so would this be worth it? Jet
The Rawlings GG Gamer Series: G601GT is a 12.75 inch pattern and would be a great glove for an outfielder. For someone that is 12, it may be a little big at first but cretainly something that a player can grow into.
Cameron
can u request the glove to come in stiff? If so, how? steve
Unfortunately we ship all of our gloves exactly how we receive them from the manufacturer, so we would not be able to stiffen a glove more than the way that Rawlings designs the glove.

About the Brand

Rawlings is a major manufacturer of competitive team sports equipment and apparel for baseball, basketball, and football, as well as licensed MLB, NFL, and NCAA retail products. Rawlings is a major supplier to professional, collegiate, interscholastic, and amateur organizations worldwide, including the Official Baseball Supplier to Major League Baseball.

The first real innovation in glove making occurred in 1912 when Rawlings Sporting Goods Company introduced the "Sure Catch" glove, which was "endorsed by leading players all over the country." The Sure Catch was a one-piece glove with sewn-in finger channels and looked better suited for a duck's foot than a man's hand. Catchers' mitts used at the time were large and bulky with a single leather thong passing for a web.

In 1920, Bill Doak, a journeyman pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, approached Rawlings with an idea for improving the baseball glove from a mere protective device to a genuine aid in fielding. The "Bill Doak" model was so revolutionary that it stayed in Rawlings' line until 1953. Its key feature was a multi-thong web laced into the first finger and thumb, which created for the first time in baseball's young life, a natural pocket.

In 1925, Rawlings unveiled a three-fingered fielder's glove, and ten years later improved the Bill Doak model with a two-piece leather web. At the same time, the "T" web became a rage for first basemen's mitts. The pocket underwent a pronounced change in 1941 when the Trapper Mitt, also known as the Claw, appeared. The "Deep Well" pocket was so unique that Rawlings quickly patented it. The design was improved in 1950 by adding a leather piece across the top. Another significant creation occurred in 1948 with the three-fingered Playmaker. A five-fingered fielder's model, with all fingers laced together, provided greater pocket control.

The six-fingered Trap-Eze evolved in the 1960's. In more recent years, Rawlings produced the Fastback design, which gives a glove a snugger fit, greater extension, and overall control. The Holdster is a slot through which a finger can be extended for additional protection from impacts on the pocket. Then, there is the Edge-U-Cated Heel with its extended U-shaped lacing and the Pro H Web and much-copied Basket Web.

Some of Rawlings's more recent glove innovations also include the unique Spin-Stopper design which reduces ball spin when the ball hits the glove, and the Cantilever glove design feature that provides a cushioned area between the hand and the glove's palm area. In all, Rawlings has produced and patented more functionally innovative glove features and designs than that of any other glove manufacturer. The result is that the modern baseball glove is much larger, more comfortable, better padded, and made to last far longer than its ancestors. It is not uncommon to see today's Major League players wearing the same Rawlings glove they wore during their college playing days. In fact, Rawlings is the #1 glove in the major leagues. Rawlings maintains about 65 models of baseball and softball mitts and gloves in its line. The prototypes of virtually all of them have been field-tested by professionals before entering a sporting goods dealer's inventory.
