Great Glove

Pros: Arrives in a good shape for break in it was about 90% broken in. We worked on it for about 5 days and it was good to go. My son is 9 year's old and the glove is a good size on his hand with a little room to grow.

Cons: Expensive. We can pass this glove down to his younger brother when he grows out of it so we could live with the cost.

Love this Glove

Pros: I just ordered this glove for my 10yr old son through ball glove warehouse. I was skeptical about paying so much for a youth glove, but I wanted to take the next step and go for a top level model. As a background, I was a middle infielder at the college level so I am very particular regarding gloves. I love the feel of this leather and the size is perfect for a 9-14 yr old in my opinion. I was able to get my fingers in there and love the feel/fit. The pocket/web design is great to make it not too small or not too big for it. We are still breaking this glove in, but have already seen that the leather breaks in easily. If the $ isn't a deal killer, buy this for your son and you will not be dissappointed. With all of that said, do not buy this glove as a starter glove for your son. Between 6-8, you can find a nice quality glove for under $100 that will suit your son just fine until you know he wants to take it to the next level.

Cons: I will have a better conclusion in a week or so once it's fully broken in. But as of right now, I can't think of one con.

Jojo05

Pros: My son is 10 and plays at ELL as a SS and pitcher. Break in was about 2 weeks before he used in practice or a game. He didn't feel any difference in weight when compared to his previous glove, Mizuno MVP. His hand are larger than the average 10 year old so it was much easier for him to close but might take extra effort for someone with smaller hands because it is a bit stiffer than an off the shelf glove. He used this glove for 3 months before it was stolen at the field.

Cons: None. We are purchasing another.

best glove Ryan parent

Pros: this is by far the best youth glove on the market. the leather quality cannot be beat. it is hands down better than any rawlings mitt. it is stiff so it will need to be broken in, but that is the case with any quality glove. I just can't express how impressed I am with the look and feel of this glove. It's awesome

Cons: cost, but you get what you pay for.

far exceeds expectations Ryan H parent

Pros: The leather quality and craftsmanship of this glove far exceeds any of its competitors. I looked at a Rawlings for $150 this glove was a lot better. when you see, smell, and feel this glove, you will know that you made the right choice.

Cons: cost. its expensive since it is made in America, but I don't mind supporting American families and keeping that factory open. besides, people waste money all the time, and even though at first you may feel that this much for a glove is a waste, you will realize you were wrong when you feel the glove.

Coach Jason

Pros: Without a doubt, the finest gloves on the market. My sons love these (10u and down) they are subtle yet firm when catching a ball. Extremly comfortable, HIGH quality leather and craftsmanship. They are by far super kid glove soft, but firm. Sources, assembled the USA. You get what you pay for and these are the best out there hands down.

Cons: White laces will get dirty, but that's when you know your player has his glove down in the dirt!

Wow! Clay Mills parent

Pros: Fantastic investment for my son! I've been holding off a while to invest in a great quality American made glove. My son is 12 and he saved a long time to contribute to his new glove which I hope will make him appreciate the quality and craftmenship. We have no cons whatsoever. Break in time was good and we used the Nokona paste which gave the glove a deep rich color. CJ used the glove last week for his Middle School tryouts and I think it actually gave him a confidence boost and he made the team as a 6th grader. I highly recommend the glove.

Cons: None

Too Much Hype

Pros: - Fantastic Stitching and Colors - Texas Made - Smells Good - Fits 10yo Just Fine

Cons: - Leather is way too soft, break-in was two days - I doubt it would last for a second season for a serious ball player - Way Better Options Out There for the Price - Stick with KIP or Heart of the Hide Gloves

Highly recommend Brady Parent

Pros: This is the best glove I have ever seen. My 8 yr old travel ball player immediately fielded and caught some game line drives easily. Coming from the Rawlings which is similar but was super hard to break in. Never liked the weight of it either. This Nokona is soft and quality is apparent. Took the step up because I never liked his old glove. Was willing to spend the extra after researching Nokona and wanted to support American made product. I’d buy again and recommend with my highest rating.

Cons: None

Sweet Glove @brycec818 Parent

Pros: That was fast shipping, As soon I felt that glove I was blown away from how the leather felt, that’s some high quality stuff. Just sent it out to California Glove Engraving to get my sons name put on it. This glove is his birthday present and I’m sure he’s going to love it. I’ve been shopping around for gloves and this is by far the best.

Cons: None yet, I’ll update

Great glove! Tom Parent

Pros: I bought this glove for my 7 soon to be 8 year old last year. It took him about 2 weeks to break in since he is on the smaller side with small hands. He used it at the end of last year’s spring ball season, winter ball, and used it during all of this year’s spring season with a little of travel ball in between. He plays short, second, pitcher and the outfield from time to time, with practice 3 times a week. He will be turning 9 in a few months and will continue to use it. He loves the glove and the fit. We have tried other gloves like, heart of the hide, pro preferred, and A2000 but likes this one the best, since he says the weight of the glove is just right. The glove is starting to get a little soft but should last another full year of year round play.

Cons: The price is a little high for a youth glove but is well worth it, especially if they’re going to be playing year round.

Perfect fit for a smaller player Great Glove Parent

Pros: Size is perfect for a smaller player. I bought this glove for my son as an 8U player because of the other positive reviews (specifically the size). The glove is perfect for him. Soft leather so it was easier to break in. to top it off the blue and red stitching sets it off right. Great glove. We will def stay with the Nocona brand.

Cons: Expensive for a smaller glove that he will probably use for 2 years.

Made in America - plays smaller than 11.25 Parent

Pros: This glove has been great. My son played 60 9u games with it at C, 2B and P. It costs more but worth it to me because it's soft, rich leather, durable and made in America. Great for 7 - 11 y/o depending on your players size and skill.

Cons: It's 11.25" but plays more like 11". We will look for 11.5 in time for 11. and for sure can't use this in OF next year.

Good but soft! David Silva Parent

Pros: Glove is great. When it came in a few months ago the quality was outstanding. Especially for a youth glove. It was broke in within the day.

Cons: Leather is too soft. I was hoping this would last my son a few years. Since he plays year round. It’s only been 3 months and it is already a pancake that won’t hold shape. I don’t think it will last more than one season. For the price of the glove that’s not good.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Nokona X2 Elite 11.25" Youth Baseball Glove: X2-200POP RWB? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

Can this be used for a 10 yr old fastpitch player. If not, what Nokona do you recommend for a serious 10 yr old girl that plays mainly third? I want something that will fit her hand well? BD
Yes, I think that this Nokona X2 Elite Red/White/Blue Limited Edition Series (X2-200 RWB Youth) could be used by a 10 year old softball player at 3rd base. The length will be solid for her at her current age (she may grow out within a year or two depending upon her preferences on how big she wants her glove to be / the 11.25" length may not feature the catching area she wants as she gets older). As well, the glove will have a youth fitting that should fit a 10 year old female hand.
Ben
Would this glove be suitable for and 8 yr old player? I have two in mind this and the s-200, size comparison? JM
The Nokona X2 Elite Red/White/Blue Limited Edition Series: X2-200 RWB Youth features a youth fit with the tighter finger stalls and smaller hand opening, so it would be a great fit for an 8 year old. As for comparison with the Nokona Alpha Select Series Baseball Glove: S-200 Youth, I would say that the fits for both of these gloves are going to be the same.
Nick
What size is this glove? BRAD FANCON
The Nokona X2 Elite Red/White/Blue Limited Edition Series: X2-200 RWB Youth has an 11.25" pattern.
Angelique
How does the X2-200 compare to the Alpha Select? Is it more structured? PT
The Nokona X2 Elite Red/White/Blue Limited Edition Series: X2-200 RWB Youth is similar to the Alpha Select. It is made out of Kangaroo Leather, which is a bit tougher than most so it can hold it's shape better than the Alpha Select.
Linsey
Can you get the name on the glove as you can from Nokona? clint garland
Unfortunately, we do not offer customization for the gloves. We would be unable to put a name on the Nokona X2 Elite Red/White/Blue Limited Edition Series: X2-200 RWB Youth.
Jason
My 17 year old is looking at this glove for pitching. Would it be suitable for him? He wears a medium batting glove. JT
Unfortunately the Nokona X2 Elite Red/White/Blue Limited Edition Series (X2-200) RWB Youth is a youth glove and is most likely not going to fit a 17 year old.
Carter
Can this glove be used in the pitcher's position even if it has the red, white and blue laces? Also with the white Nokona lettering? Surfah
You will need to check with your league commissioner or team coach to be certain the glove will be legal, but very rarely is a glove deemed illegal just due to the color of the laces/lettering.
Kyle J.
Is this glove good for a 9 year old that plays 2nd and outfield? Or would he need a larger glove for outfield? oscar
The Nokona X2 Elite Series Youth Baseball Glove: X2-200POP RWB Youth would be a good glove for second base. Might need a bigger glove for the outfield.
Max
Which Nakona youth glove would you recommend for a 9 year old that plays both 2nd and center field? oscar
The Nokona X2 Elite Series Youth Baseball Glove: X2-200POP RWB Youth is a good option for your player. You could also look at gloves with a 11.50 inch pattern if your player spends more time in CF than at Second Base.
Dan
Would this glove be too heavy or big for a soon to be 8 year old? He plays middle infield, strong, currently plays a Mizuno entry level 11.5" glove. He now plays year around and I would be willing to invest in a nice glove he can use in rec & travel ball. JPB
The Nokona X2 Elite Series Youth Baseball Glove: X2-200POP RWB Youth is designed for younger players, about the age of your player. It has a lightweight design, and an easy break in in addition to the smaller hand opening and narrower finger stalls.
Logan
What’s the difference between this glove and the Nokona S200? Stephen mason
The difference is that the Nokona X2 Elite Series Youth Baseball Glove: X2-200POP RWB Youth has a higher quality leather, meaning it will be more durable. This glove will also have a color scheme of blue, brown, red, and white. Compared to the color scheme of the Nokona Alpha Select Series Baseball Glove: S-200 Youth which is just brown.
Ben
What age do most youth players use this glove through? Kane Causemaker
Most youth players will use the Nokona X2 Elite Series Youth Baseball Glove: X2-200POP RWB Youth until around the age of 11 or 12.
Jack
With the white stitching, are pitchers allowed to use this model? Maureen
The Nokona X2 Elite Series Youth Baseball Glove: X2-200POP RWB Youth is not technically allowed for pitching due to the white laces. At the youth level, a pitcher may get away with this depending on the umpire and/or opposing coaching staff.
Cameron
Trying to choose between the Wilson A2000 or this glove. He has the Nokona S200 now but it’s very soft after two years of year round use. He’s 10 but on the smaller side and plays middle infield. Jason connolly
The Nokona X2 Elite Series Youth Baseball Glove: X2-200POP RWB Youth is a great option to consider for a youth player. The kangaroo leather is a very sturdy material than holds up well over time while also helping to cut down on the weight of the glove. This glove will also break in slightly easier than a Wilson A2000 Pedroia fit (that is the better fit option in that series for a youth player).
Cameron
Daughter is 6, curious if this may be too heavy for a 6 year old, or too big? Arron Trammell
Yes, this Nokona X2 Elite Series Youth Baseball Glove (X2-200POP RWB) will likely be too large for a 6-year old. I would suggest something along the lines of the Nokona Alpha Select 9" Youth Baseball Glove (S-50C).
Frank
Looking for a glove for my 10.5 year-old. He is 57 inches and 82 pounds. He is a middle infielder. I am looking for something to last him 2 years. Maybe a 11.25 inch glove. He has an R-9 that has gotten floppy. Looking for something stiffer. Can you recommend a few to choose from? Not overly concerned about price if it will last. Thanks! David
The Nokona X2 Elite Series Youth Baseball Glove: X2-200POP RWB Youth is a great option for younger players with a smaller hand opening and tighter finger stalls. A two-year warranty guarantees the glove lasts at least two years under normal wear and tear. The Nokona X2 Elite Series Youth Baseball Glove: X2-200POP RWB Youth is ready-for-play right off the shelf without the need for steaming, and with ideal level of feel, flexibility, and rigidity right where you need it. The Rawlings HOH Mark of a Pro 11.25" Baseball Glove: SPNP2-7WB is an intermediate glove that could be another, less expensive, option. Featuring quality soft leather that provides a stiffer feel and is easier to break in than the traditional heart of the hide gloves. The Rawlings HOH Mark of a Pro 11.25" Baseball Glove: SPNP2-7WB also offers a 12-month manufacturer's warranty.
Lauren
My son has used this glove for the last 4 years and loves it. He's 13 now and still wants this glove. He has smaller hands. What would be a good step up in gloves looking for his growth, and knowing this glove is a perfect fit for him now? Eric
A good alternative to the Nokona X2 Elite 11.25" Youth Baseball Glove: X2-200POP RWB would be the Nokona X2 Elite 11.25" Baseball Glove: X2-1125I.
Cameron
What is the best glove for my son who is turning 7 in December but is growing fast? Shall I wait until maybe a little older for a nicer glove like Nokona? He currently uses a 10 inch youth Rawlings but too small for him now. Ron
For a 7 year old, we would recommend a youth glove at 11.25 inches. The Nokona X2 Elite 11.25" Youth Baseball Glove: X2-200POP RWB is a great option to consider if seeking a higher end glove in terms of leather shell quality.

About the Brand

Joe Phillips writes about his visit to Nokona. It was like sitting in at the plantation party in Gone with the Wind or maybe gazing from the grandstand at the “Field of Dreams” while the Black Sox players tried to work out their idled muscle kinks. And, I was gently reminded by the lines in that movie while I dug into a delicious plate of North Texas barbecue: “threshing crews eating at outdoor tables. It continually reminds us of what once was, like an Indian-head penny in a handful of new coins. . . You talk a good dream.” And here I was. . . graciously invited into this magical and charming “Field of Glove-Making Dreams” in former Comanche Indian land at Nocona, Texas. It was a warm August evening, basked in a golden harvest moon, while friends and the Nokona family paid its kindly southern regards to two of their own and two of America’s finest but relatively obscure glove makers, Bobby Storey and Elvin Ray “Ab” Lemons. You see, the pair had just completed fifty years of time-honored employment with Nocona Athletic Goods, the last of the all-American made ball glove company's. The occasion brought echoes of past successes and human contentment, but in Nocona today you still experience much the same American texture of yesterday and perhaps a glimpse into tomorrow as well.

The two stately gentlemen were being honored in a way that could have taken place in the same manner when they first reported for full-time work at Nokona, in 1952, or back even earlier, in 1933 when the company started making sports equipment. During a brief and informal presentation at the celebration, Nokona’s new sales manager called the two glove makers “Legends - because that’s what their ball gloves stood for, American know-how and pride taken in a best-made product.”

A man of few words but a marveled craftsman who could literally conjure a sows ear into a playable baseball mitt, Mr. Lemons got up and fondly recalled the several men he worked with through his half-century and of the training that had been passed along to him from his old bosses.

His counter part and just as talented, Bobby Storey, had filled in at just about every job at Nokona. Bobby, the son of the sporting goods founder, R.E. “Bob” Storey had most recently served as president and now chairman of the board of Nokona. Though past retirement age like Mr. Lemons, he’s now serving at one of his favorite roles, that of ball glove designer.

At a time for employment in this country when five years is considered a long tenure with the same company, Ab and Bobby are not even the first to complete a half-century journey with Nocona Athletics. The now deceased Jewell Brickey, hit that milestone in 1993, after joining the company during World War II. That’s the kind of devotion that employees forge into this glove-making outfit. A devoted and sustained tenure here is not rare. Last year the company advertising, displayed along with Storey and Lemons, three other employees who had garnered 40 years with Nokona, Warren Clary, Bud Meekins, and Melvin Weedin.“

I don’t have to tell you that the one constant through all the years has been baseball”, wrote W.P. Kinsella. And the most constant of ball glove makers has been Nokona, and the men and women there who keep alive the tradition of American craftsmanship of ball glove making. The spirit of glove-making is still alive and well in Nocona, Texas.
