Pros: Glove is made of a tough leather that will last a long long time. Comfortable and feels great on me.

Cons: The tougher leather will take a longer time to break in, but the quality will ensure that I won't be doing it again anytime soon.

Pros: Absolutely beautiful glove. Seems very strong and durable. Huge pocket. Fits your hand almost perfectly and is good for those with larger hands.

Cons: Just that is it very tough to break in. I'm more used to going to a sporting goods store and getting something sort of pre-oiled/broken in and just playing catch to get it game ready. Be prepared to oil this a couple times, work on it off and on for a couple of days, and playing lots of catch to get it in game shape.

Pros: Fantastic glove. Durable, well-formed pocket. The strap adds a nice custom fit. I use it for both infield and outfield (try the 13" if you need more glove).

Cons: Takes longer to break in, but worth it.

Pros: Great glove. The leather looks amazing and it has a deep pocket for fastpitch softball. My daughter really likes how it formed to her hand and ti

Cons: Because of the high quality leather it does require some time to break it in. But once it is broke it the feel is great.

Pros: Glove is solid and is remarkably heavier than I was expecting. Very durable and comfortable. Not likely that any hard hit balls are going to go 'through' this glove like some of the more flimsy golves I have used in the past.

Cons: As others have mentioned, it takes some time to break in. I've been playing with it for a while now (2 months on and off in practices) and it's just starting to get to the point where I'm comfortable using it in a game.

Pros: I have not had a new glove since 1992 so I took my time choosing the Nokona Walnut 1250 as my new glove. I needed something for playing slow pitch mens softball and coaching my kids in little league and t-ball. I made the choice based on the reviews, the size and the fact it is made in the USA. I could not be happier with this glove - the quality of leather is like nothing that I have ever played with. It was stiff when I got it but it broke in very quickly. About 2 weeks of tossing a ball in the pocket as I watched TV and it is pretty much game ready. Like a lot of outfielders I like to put two fingers in the pinky spot and this glove easily allows for that. I know that I am going to have this glove for a long time and that my next glove will be a Nokona. I was so excited with my new glove I would not take it off and my wife even asked me if I was going to sleep with it...

Cons: None in my opinion

Pros: The perfect glove! I bought mine in April and easily had it ready for the start of softball in May. I play in the outfield and prefer to have two fingers in the pinky hole - this is the perfect glove. I am positive that the quality of the leather will allow me to keep this glove for many years.

Cons: None

Pros: Glove was purchased with prior knowledge of long lasting wear once the break in process is complete; this will be a 5 star rating

Cons: As know to us prior to purchase. The glove has a long and hard break in process. Be smart give yourself at least 2-3 months break in time.

Great Glove

Pros: Great feel...even on hard hits to SS it plays soft and centered and very easy to quick catch and toss for double plays...Gives you a big glove feel on pop ups plays like a 13 or 13.5....Break in to me is a pro...you can break it in to how you like the glove to be and the leather can take it...dont be scared to beat this glove inside and out especially the palm pad and use that conditioner it really breaks it down...i use Saddle soap to clean and mink oil to condition took about two weeks to break down to being comfortable to try in a game i play about 200 games a year so Im really looking forward to what a quality glove can do!!

Cons: Not even close to game ready so be prepared to put in some work beating this glove into play shape!! Heavy glove, it takes a few games to get use to but its a comfortable feel. Also this glove doesnt feel 12.5 it feels 13 or 13.5, my 12.75 Louisville Flare is tiny compared to this but again bigger pocket and really made me notice that I really have been playing with baseball mitts before

nokona ws 1250 bruz player

Pros: the glove is high quality, and very durable. you can feel the difference in the quality of the leather right out of the package. i bought 3 gloves in the last 2 years not liking them at all. ive bought worth, louisville, and rawlings and the nokona has far exceeded my expectations. that being said ive never spent over 100$ on a glove. did my research and just kept coming back to nokona. very excited to use this glove break intime was about a week to 2 weeks depending on how much time you have. got the break in package with the wood mallet and just beat the pocket to my exact liking. much easier that just throwing the ball in the pocket.

Cons: everyone puts 2 week break in time as a con. in my opinion when you buy something with this good of quality i would expect this break in time to be a process. you will not be disappointed with the result. you can work the leather to your liking. not like those glove that are easy to break in. those gloves lose padding very quickly. im a victim of that. so from others reviews that the padding withholds and line shots are soft, im all for that.

Pros: The break in is going faster than expected. This fit's my wide hand well. It has a deep pocket which will allow me to use this for both baseball (pitcher) and softball. The quality is extremely evident.

Cons: heavier than today's glove but maybe not at this price point

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Nokona Classic Walnut 12.5" Fastpitch Softball Glove: WS-1250C? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

I am in middle school and i play centerfield would this be a good glove for the outfield Austin
This is a great link that we have the helps decide on what size to use and the size of the glove; http://www.justballgloves.com/glove-coach/
Brett
is this glove designed for fastpitch? ashley
It's not a traditional fastpitch softball glove with narrow finger stalls and a smaller wrist opening. However, it does fit a little more snug that other 12.5 inch adult gloves and the wrist strap will help to customize the fit. It has a larger than average pocket to accomodate a softball. It would work for fastpitch or slowpitch softball, or baseball for player who prefer a glove with a large pocket.
Mark
is the nokona classic softball series glove for men as well? fred
Yes, this glove is made for mens softball. Fastpitch gloves are made for females and all of our fastpitch will say fastpitch in the name of the glove. The ones that say softball will be for mens softball.
Brett
is this glove too big for a nine year old? Billie
Yes. A 12.5 inch glove would be too big for a 9 year old. A 9 year old baseball player would be better suited with a glove between 10.75 and 11.25 inches. A 9 year old fastpitch softball player would be better suited with a glove between 11 and 11.5 inches.
Mark
Is this too big for shortstop for a girl? cd
It really depends on the size of the player. Nokona glvoes tend to run a little smaller than other gloves. A 12.5 inch glove is better suited for a high school player.
Kara
Hi this may be a stupid question but I have searched everywhere for the correct answer and can't seem to find it, so here goes. I came across a great deal in a Nokona WS-1250 it does not have the AMG numbers or the C after the WS-1250 so my question is, Is this a baseball or softball glove or does it matter if it is used at any position or used by men or women? Thank you in advance for your answer RedSox Mom
If the glove fits you and you are comfortable with it, then it would probably work.
Shelbe
Is this glove big enough for third second and short stop in softball? simon
The Nokona Walnut Softball Series, WS1250C is a bit large for second base and shortstop. For infield positions we suggest 12 inches and under.
Shelbe
When will the 12.50" gloves be in right handed thrower. TH
The Nokona Walnut Softball Series: WS1250C glove is currently on its way to us. We will have more right handed thrower's available in 2-4 weeks.
Brandon
I want to get a Nokona for softball and I play outfield. Do you think the 12.50'' is big enough? Steve
The Nokona Walnut Softball Series: WS1250C will work great for an outfielders softball glove. If you are unhappy with the size you can return it within 100 days, due to our generous 100 day glove guarantee.
Noah
Does this glove play true to the 12.50" or does it play smaller/bigger? I usually use a 13" in slow pitch. Killer
The Nokona Walnut Softball Series: WS1250Cs typically runs about a .25 inches smaller.
Jason
Would you recommend a 12.50'' or 12.00'' for a men's softball player? I play shortstop, first base, and occasionally outfield. Does the 12.00'' fit the same or a bit snugger around hand? yo
The Nokona Walnut Softball Series 12.50'' and 12'' will fit similar on the hand. The finger and wrist stalls won't change on those two models. The 12.50'' may be better suited for you based on the positions you are playing.
Tori
I can not decide between the 1250C and the 1350C. I just need a good all around glove for playing softball, mostly infield, coaching baseball, and throwing catch with my son. I bought a PL1200 Nokona glove and it was just too small. Any ideas? inasia
If the Nokona Pro Line Series (PL1200C (AMG1200SXCW)) felt too small, the Nokona Walnut Softball Series (WS1250C) may not feel too much bigger. For the things you are wanting to use the glove for, I would think that the Nokona Walnut Softball Series (WS1350C) would be a great option.
Patrick
I play 1st base and outfield in Men's slow pitch. Would this glove be best suited for me? Josh
The Nokona Walnut Softball Series (WS1250C) would be suitable for all positions.
Tom
Is this glove for women specifically? I am a 30 year old male in a work softball league and am looking for a glove that could also be used to play catch with my son (baseball). Evan
No, the Nokona Classic Walnut Softball Series: WS-1250C is not specifically designed for women. It is just specifically designed for softball.

About the Brand

Joe Phillips writes about his visit to Nokona. It was like sitting in at the plantation party in Gone with the Wind or maybe gazing from the grandstand at the “Field of Dreams” while the Black Sox players tried to work out their idled muscle kinks. And, I was gently reminded by the lines in that movie while I dug into a delicious plate of North Texas barbecue: “threshing crews eating at outdoor tables. It continually reminds us of what once was, like an Indian-head penny in a handful of new coins. . . You talk a good dream.” And here I was. . . graciously invited into this magical and charming “Field of Glove-Making Dreams” in former Comanche Indian land at Nocona, Texas. It was a warm August evening, basked in a golden harvest moon, while friends and the Nokona family paid its kindly southern regards to two of their own and two of America’s finest but relatively obscure glove makers, Bobby Storey and Elvin Ray “Ab” Lemons. You see, the pair had just completed fifty years of time-honored employment with Nocona Athletic Goods, the last of the all-American made ball glove company's. The occasion brought echoes of past successes and human contentment, but in Nocona today you still experience much the same American texture of yesterday and perhaps a glimpse into tomorrow as well.

The two stately gentlemen were being honored in a way that could have taken place in the same manner when they first reported for full-time work at Nokona, in 1952, or back even earlier, in 1933 when the company started making sports equipment. During a brief and informal presentation at the celebration, Nokona’s new sales manager called the two glove makers “Legends - because that’s what their ball gloves stood for, American know-how and pride taken in a best-made product.”

A man of few words but a marveled craftsman who could literally conjure a sows ear into a playable baseball mitt, Mr. Lemons got up and fondly recalled the several men he worked with through his half-century and of the training that had been passed along to him from his old bosses.

His counter part and just as talented, Bobby Storey, had filled in at just about every job at Nokona. Bobby, the son of the sporting goods founder, R.E. “Bob” Storey had most recently served as president and now chairman of the board of Nokona. Though past retirement age like Mr. Lemons, he’s now serving at one of his favorite roles, that of ball glove designer.

At a time for employment in this country when five years is considered a long tenure with the same company, Ab and Bobby are not even the first to complete a half-century journey with Nocona Athletics. The now deceased Jewell Brickey, hit that milestone in 1993, after joining the company during World War II. That’s the kind of devotion that employees forge into this glove-making outfit. A devoted and sustained tenure here is not rare. Last year the company advertising, displayed along with Storey and Lemons, three other employees who had garnered 40 years with Nokona, Warren Clary, Bud Meekins, and Melvin Weedin.“

I don’t have to tell you that the one constant through all the years has been baseball”, wrote W.P. Kinsella. And the most constant of ball glove makers has been Nokona, and the men and women there who keep alive the tradition of American craftsmanship of ball glove making. The spirit of glove-making is still alive and well in Nocona, Texas.
