Pros: Great glove with a huge pocket. The kangaroo leather is a bit thinner so I was skeptical at first, but it has proven to be a durable glove.

Cons: Slight kink in the web that's been hard to work-in.

Pros: I've had this glove for 4 years. Leather appears to be very sturdy. Nice pocket and fit. Extremely easy to break in without being too flimsy.

Cons: I like a glove with a little stiffer leather but that is a personal choice.

Pros: Wow! what a glove. deep pocket, soft in the middle, reains some stiffness on the thumb and pinky. broke in easy.

Cons: just make sure you you know how to break in a glove correctly or you'll never know the differance between this and a $25 wal-mart special. if you've never broke in quality leather, watch the video on this site.

Pros: This is the best softball glove I have used. The pocket is deep and swallows the 12" ball. I play the infield and it works quite well, all you need to do is get to the ball, the glove does the rest. Regardless of what others say this glove was easy to break in. It took me roughly 4 days and 2 catch sessions (to fully break in and form the glove, not just get it 80% game ready).

Cons: None. Best I have used, I have also played with a Wilson A1000 SB13 and Rawlings GG130FS.

Pros: So anyone that knows anything about Nokona knows how awesome they are. But not only is this glove awesome with a short break in period (like every Nokona I have ever owned), this company is awesome as well. Was going to pay to have it next day shipped when the Cust. Service Rep said that based on where I lived I would have it in 2 days so no reason to pay the extra. Rare to find a company that will go out of its way to save you money while they are selling you something. I used to buy from Softball Sales and now I only use Ball Glove Warehouse or Just BallGlovesfor my glove needs and I only by Nokona these gloves are the best hands down.

Cons: The only con is that these gloves are so well known and well liked that you have to keep an eye on your glove at all times. I have never had one wear out but I have had them taken. So keep an eye on them and its all good

Pros: Still pretty new. Seems to be breaking in quickly. Cannot wait to use it in real game situation soon. I have always owned high end gloves and thus far this glove feels awesome. first Nokona for me, ther leather is definetely quality. I will be using this size for softball, mosstly infield and utility player. The back velcro strap is well constructed and you can fit this glove to your size hand easily. I have the strap extremely loose while breaking it in but is nice to know in the future i can make it more snug as the leather stretches a bit. The pocket appears to be perfect for mens softball.

Cons: None so far.

Pros: Made in US. Nokona offers repairs from factory. Feels great once broke in. Real nice pocket for both large & small balls. Use the Nokona conditioner as they say and you will have one awesome glove. Forget those "quick fix" break-in methods, as this is really nice leather and it takes time.

Cons: A bit heavier than other gloves, NOT lightweight. I was set to return mine, even had it in the return box...gave it another chance and that did the trick. Glad I took the time, so don't think it's ready out of the box.

Pros: Great glove with a nice deep pocket perfect for slow pitch softball. I play infield and outfield and it's the ideal size to do both. By far the nicest glove I have ever owned but that's what I expected with Nokona.

Cons: Glove is very stiff out of the box but that's the sign of a good quality glove. It does take some time to break in but when done properly it is worth the time and patience.

Pros: Awesome glove! Perhaps the finest glove I have ever owned. Break-in period was about 2 weeks to meet my requirements. This glove is well worth lofty the price for a person that will follow recommended glove care. But if you are someone that does not have a problem throwing you glove on the floor don't buy this glove, it doesn't deserve it.

Cons: I would prefer a glove with an open back and an H or I pocket. But this is a personal preference. Beside that no cons or deal breaker.

Pros: I have only owned TWO Nokona's in my life..One for OF, One for IF. Bought when I was 16...I am now 23. Reason why? THEY ARE THAT GOOD. Take good care of them, and this glove will last as long as you want it to. Great quality leather(Get the Kangaroo) comfortable, breaks in easy, USE THE NOKONA LUBE! It is the gloves best friend. You will not be disappointed.

Cons: Pricey--(but WELL worth it)

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Nokona Buckaroo Series: BS1300C (AMG650KCW)? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

i looking for a 14 inch in a glove do you have any thing randy
This series is actually not made in a 14 inch model. The AMG700KCW (which is currently out of stock) would be your closest option at 13.5 inches.
Sean
my son is 13 he has an 11.5 Rawlings. However this glove is too small to play the outfield. I'm thinking about a Nokona Buckeroo 13". Do you think this is to much glove for him? phil
I would recommend a smaller glove for an outfielder. Most infielders use 11.00-11.50 inch gloves. Most outfielders use 12.00-12.50 inch gloves.
Brett
I play softball and I'm a infielder in a adult league. What size glove do you recommend. Red
I play all over the field in softball (mostly outfield) and I use a 13 inch glove. Two of my teammates play strictly infield, one uses a 13 inch glove, the other a 12.5 inch model. If I were playing infield only, I would go with a 12.75 or 13 inch model (in my opinion I think a 12.5 inch glove is a bit too small).
TJ
My mother has a couple of horses and so uses a lot of leather treatment products for her riding gear. Can i use the same products for this glove? Rig
The treatment products for riding gear should not be used on Nokona gloves, it can dry out the glove.
Kara
My son 16 year old son is 6'3", about 210 lbs. and wears an XL to XXL batting glove so he has big hands. He is a pitcher and I was wondering if this 13 inch glove would be suitable as a pitcher/infield glove. NatJoe
with him being so big, and Nokona tends to run just a little small, this glove might work for him. Keep in mind our 100 day guarantee if it doesn't suit his needs.
Linda
Would this be a good glove for the outfield in womens fastpitch softball? Im looking for a high quality leather glove. Would this be the glove or would you recommend a different model? jess
This glove would be perfect for outfield. This glove has a deep pocket and is made of a high quality leather.
KG
Is this a baseball or softball glove? Kevin
This glove can be used for baseball, but it's large pocket definitely makes it a favorite of softball players as well.
Kris
My daughter is 14 and plays 3rd base. We are looking for a glove that will carry her through high school. She prefers a bigger glove. Would this 13" glove work for her. She thinks the 12.5 would be too small. rebel
The BS1300C is a baseball model. The Nokona Buckaroo Black Softball Series: BS1300CBLK has a softball pattern and would be better suited for fastpitch softball.
KB
I am looking for the left hand throw model for the BS1300C. I can't seem to find any in stock..suggestions? Thanks. JB
Unfortunately, we do not have any left hand throwers in stock. Nokona has a list of retailers that carry their gloves. Check out their website at http://www.nokona.com/locator/.
Kara
Hi, I'm just curios if they will ever make this model of glove in a 13.5? I play softball & play outfield. I have a Nike 14" glove right now & like it alot because of its size! Thank you. joey o
The Nokona Buckaroo Black Softball Series: BS1350CBLK is available in a 13.50". It is designed specifically for softball play.
Kara
I just made the transition to adult softball. i wear a mens L batting glove and was wondering as far as hand size which nokona glove would be better the buckaroo or buckaroo black? Also botth are listed as softball gloves on nokona's site but which mit has a deeper pocket? Will
Both the Buckaroo and Buckaroo Black Series have the exact same sizing in terms of finger stalls and wrist opening.
Tyler
Does this glove run a little short. I am currently using a 12.5" Wilson for softball infield, but wonder if I should go with the 13" when I order this glove. Nokona speaks highly of your site BTW kdogifster
Nokona gloves are high quality, handmade products. They do tend to run about .25" smaller than advertised.
Tyler
I have huge hands and need a big glove. I had to return a Shoeless Joe 12.5 model. I have had success with an A2000 12.5 and also have a 35 year old Nokona which is plenty big. Any thoughts? Michael
The Nokona Buckaroo Series will run small and fit more like a 12.50" glove. We recommend a 13.00" to a 13.50" glove.
Kara
Will this gloves work for men's slow pitch softball? I play infield and outfield. jd
The Nokona Buckaroo Series: BS1300C (AMG650KCW) is a good all-position glove at 13". The BS1300C is a baseball/softball hybrid design that should fit average-sized men's hands.
Katie
How does the pocket in this glove compare to the Nokona Walnut series? I'm thinking about upgrading. Would this be a better choice? Neil
Both the Nokona Buckaroo Series: BS1300c and the Nokona Walnut Softball Series: WS1300C have similar deep pockets. Either one would be a good choice.
Jason
How is the weight on this glove? Is it fairly lightweight, and how's the weight compared to the Walnut Series? Jack
The Nokona Buckaroo Series: BS1300C (AMG650KCW) will have a definite lighter feel to the play weight of the glove when comparing against the Nokona Walnut Series.
Brandon
How is the leather on this glove? Is it more of a soft or hard leather? P
The Nokona Buckaroo will feature one of the softer leathers that Nokona has to offer. The Buckaroo will still require a decent break in period to be game ready.
John
Does this glove come in a 13.5 inch model? ron
Unfortunately 13" is going to be the longest size for any gloves in the Nokona Buckaroo Series.
Gary T.
I know a lot of glove companies are tailoring softball gloves to females hands with smaller glove and finger openings. Is this the case for this glove as well or will it fit a males hand with no problems? curtisjbent89
The Nokona Buckaroo Series (BS1300C) is a baseball/softball pattern. It is designed for a male hand. The gloves labeled fastpitch are designed for females.
Kara
What's the difference between the (BS1300C) and the (WS1300C) gloves, and what do you get for the extra $50 in price? Jon
The Nokona Buckaroo Series (BS1300C) (AMG650KCW) features Kangaroo Leather on the back of the glove's shell which also carries a premium price. The substitution of the Kangaroo Leather for the Walnut Leather cuts out extra weight. The (WS1300C) is constructed completely from the Walnut HHH Leather.

About the Brand

Joe Phillips writes about his visit to Nokona. It was like sitting in at the plantation party in Gone with the Wind or maybe gazing from the grandstand at the “Field of Dreams” while the Black Sox players tried to work out their idled muscle kinks. And, I was gently reminded by the lines in that movie while I dug into a delicious plate of North Texas barbecue: “threshing crews eating at outdoor tables. It continually reminds us of what once was, like an Indian-head penny in a handful of new coins. . . You talk a good dream.” And here I was. . . graciously invited into this magical and charming “Field of Glove-Making Dreams” in former Comanche Indian land at Nocona, Texas. It was a warm August evening, basked in a golden harvest moon, while friends and the Nokona family paid its kindly southern regards to two of their own and two of America’s finest but relatively obscure glove makers, Bobby Storey and Elvin Ray “Ab” Lemons. You see, the pair had just completed fifty years of time-honored employment with Nocona Athletic Goods, the last of the all-American made ball glove company's. The occasion brought echoes of past successes and human contentment, but in Nocona today you still experience much the same American texture of yesterday and perhaps a glimpse into tomorrow as well.

The two stately gentlemen were being honored in a way that could have taken place in the same manner when they first reported for full-time work at Nokona, in 1952, or back even earlier, in 1933 when the company started making sports equipment. During a brief and informal presentation at the celebration, Nokona’s new sales manager called the two glove makers “Legends - because that’s what their ball gloves stood for, American know-how and pride taken in a best-made product.”

A man of few words but a marveled craftsman who could literally conjure a sows ear into a playable baseball mitt, Mr. Lemons got up and fondly recalled the several men he worked with through his half-century and of the training that had been passed along to him from his old bosses.

His counter part and just as talented, Bobby Storey, had filled in at just about every job at Nokona. Bobby, the son of the sporting goods founder, R.E. “Bob” Storey had most recently served as president and now chairman of the board of Nokona. Though past retirement age like Mr. Lemons, he’s now serving at one of his favorite roles, that of ball glove designer.

At a time for employment in this country when five years is considered a long tenure with the same company, Ab and Bobby are not even the first to complete a half-century journey with Nocona Athletics. The now deceased Jewell Brickey, hit that milestone in 1993, after joining the company during World War II. That’s the kind of devotion that employees forge into this glove-making outfit. A devoted and sustained tenure here is not rare. Last year the company advertising, displayed along with Storey and Lemons, three other employees who had garnered 40 years with Nokona, Warren Clary, Bud Meekins, and Melvin Weedin.“

I don’t have to tell you that the one constant through all the years has been baseball”, wrote W.P. Kinsella. And the most constant of ball glove makers has been Nokona, and the men and women there who keep alive the tradition of American craftsmanship of ball glove making. The spirit of glove-making is still alive and well in Nocona, Texas.
