Pros: soft leather, nice deep pocket. seems really well made.

Cons: wasn't quite as game ready as I thought it would be, but break in didn't take long. Just don't expect to take out of box and to a game right away.

Pros: By far the best glove I have ever bought. I play competitive slo-pitch and I am characterized as a utility player. So for me, is glove is very versatile. I purchased the recommended NLTP leather conditioner, it certainly was a labour of love as the application took about an hour, but the end result was a more pliable softer glove. It definitely was not game ready out of the box(although you could, in a pinch). I love the deep pocket, the great 'snap' sound when you catch the ball and the fit. It was as though it was made for me; particularly since I hold it with my pinky and ring finger in same end slot and one in ech of the other slots, leaving my wrist slightly exposed(game of inches my coach told me). It's been a month now and I see this glove lasting me for the remainder of my softball life:). What a great, quality product!!

Cons: Absolutely nothing!!

Pros: I bought the BF1300CBLK AND WC1250C, returned the buckaroo because the hand area was to small, the WC1250C is one tough piece of leather, after three weeks of practice it's still not broke in, but I can tell it's going to be the best of the best.

Cons: Being left handed there are not as many gloves to pick from.

Nokona Buckaroo Black Fastpitch Series: BF1300CBLK Anthony Hernandez parent

Pros: This isn't the first Nokona that we've purchased and I can promise that it won't be the last. I bought this glove for my 11 yr old daughter and she was squeamish about replacing her 11" Nokona, but she fell in love with the new one immediately. The quality in and out of this glove is unparallel, and if you take your game serious youll need a serious glove. Nokona also offers a service that'll restore your glove later on down the road so that you can always pass it down to the next generation. The other brands don't offer services like that. Just another reason that I've stuck with this brand since my first Nokona in 90'

Cons: None, dont believe the critics that say this glove will break in and become floppy, it'll just turn into the perfect glove tha'll work everytime.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Nokona Buckaroo Black Fastpitch Series Glove: BFF-1300C-BLK? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

Would this glove be too big for my 14-year old daughter who plays outfield? Looking to get her a glove to get her through high school and heard excellent things abut Nokona. pat
Normally I wouldn't suggest this size for a 14 year old. However, Nokona gloves run slightly smaller than most other gloves. Since she is an outfielder this would be an excellent glove to carry her through high school.
Kara
My daughter has an AMG650-CW. Is this the same glove? Her's is getting pretty worn and needs replacement. Chris
The BS1300CBLK does have a similar design as the AMG650KCW but uses the black cow hide for the back of the glove.
Shelbe
Is this the correct size for playing the outfield for men's softball play in three leagues? Like the glove also made in USA in Texas. chris
The Nokona Buckaroo Black Series: BS1300CBLK is a 13 inch model with a deep pocket! The most common glove sizes used for outfield range from 12 inches up so this could be used for any outfield position!
Kole
Looking to replace my daughter's Mizuno glove. She's 13, stands 6 feet tall, with big hands. Usually plays 3rd base, outfield, pitcher. Her Mizuno glove is 13 inches. Wanting a glove that will last through high school. Mert1108
You are on the right tracking looking at this glove if durability is on your mind. Nokona's are well-known for being some of the most durable gloves on the market. Sounds like a 13 inch model is the best bet.
Tyler
My daughter complains about gloves being to heavy. Is this model lighter for women? rio55
The Nokona Buckaroo Series will be average in weight compared to other models of similar size and quality.
Tyler
What is the warranty on this glove? Is it better than a Wilson warranty or a Mizuno warranty? Soph
We have a 100 day, satisfaction guarantee on our gloves. You can use it for up to 100 days, and if anything happens or you're not satisfied, you can return it to us.
Tyler
Would this be a good glove for baseball? John
This is designed for softball, and will fit a little smaller and have a deeper pocket. I wouldn't recommend anything over 12.75 inches for baseball.
Tyler
If I like the size of a 12.5 Rawlings glove, would this be similar in size? My hands are a little small I suppose as I am 5'6" and am moving to ss in slowptich softball this year. I like the 13" glove I use for outfield except that the pinky side is a little flimsy due to the size of my hand. Any suggestions? jjtweeks
The BS1300CBLK fits pretty true to size, but if you have smaller hands it should be a good option. It is a very high quality glove that will hold it's shape very well over time. It think this would make an excellent utility glove for slow pitch softball.
Tyler
I'm 6'1" and playing slowpitch softball - primarily outfield, but with some occasional work at SS/3B. What would be optimal size to cover that range of work (note I have pretty average size hands)? Also - is the Buckaroo the best Nokona line to stick with? From comments it seems easier to break in, but not sure if there are other pros/cons. Rich
The Nokona Buckaroo Black Softball Series: BS1300CBLK is a perfect size for a player who is mainly in the outfield. The Buckaroo or Bloodline Series are the best, however the Bloodline series will be stiffer and more difficult to break in.
Kara
I followed this link from the BS1350CBLK and had a couple of questions. Why is this model listed as fastpitch (indicating it was designed for female use), while the 1350 is described as being for slow pitch (male)? Also, why is the smaller glove priced $10 higher? Christian
The Nokona Buckaroo Black Fastpitch Series has smaller finger stalls and is designed for a female hand. The BS1350CBLK is a softball glove, designed for an adult male hand. The price is set by Nokona.
Kara
Do you offer this glove in other colors for a left hander? Steve
Unfortunately, the Nokona Buckaroo Black Fastpitch Series: BF1300CBLK is only available in the color shown on the website.
Tyler
I have average sized hands for a male. Will this glove fit well even though it is made for a female hand? Javier
The Nokona Buckaroo Black Fastpitch Series will be a little small for a male with average size hands. The hand opening and finger stalls are smaller and designed to fit a females hand.
Nick
My daughter has the BS1300C (AMG650KCW). We are looking at the BF1300BLK. Are they the same size pocket and glove? She is a high school pitcher and shortstop. KB
The Nokona Buckaroo Black Fastpitch Series: BF1300CBLK and the BS1300C will have the same size pocket and will be similar in quality and durability.
Kara
My daughter is 14 and is 5' 4". She currently has a 12.50" glove and it is too small for her in the outfield. Would this glove be a good fit for her? Softballmom
The Nokona Buckaroo Black Fastpitch Series (BF1300CBLK) (BS1300CBLK) has a 13" pattern and is a nice increase in size from her 12.50" pattern. The 13" model is an ideal glove for an outfielder.
Jason
The pictures show the backing of the glove being black and brown in color. However, the video shows the backing being all black in color. Is this Nokona Buckaroo Black Fastpitch Series (BF1300CBLK) completely black on the outside? JP
This Nokona Buckaroo Black Fastpitch Series: BF1300CBLK (BS1300CBLK) will come with a backing as the pictures show (I would recommend disregarding the image shown in the video). The backing of the glove will come with the combination of black and brown coloring to it.
Ben
I've heard the X2-V1300 is pretty much ready to go out of the box. The reviews on this model seem stiff even though it uses the same leathers. How does the break-in compare to the 2016 Nokona X2 Buckaroo Series Fastpitch Glove (X2-V1300)? tlspatt
I believe that the X2-V1300 features a little more craftsmanship when it is built. The extra craftsmanship leads to the feel of the X2 to be a little more game-ready out of the box when compared to this Nokona Buckaroo Black Fastpitch Series (BF1300CBLK) even though the gloves feature the same quality of leather.

About the Brand

Joe Phillips writes about his visit to Nokona. It was like sitting in at the plantation party in Gone with the Wind or maybe gazing from the grandstand at the “Field of Dreams” while the Black Sox players tried to work out their idled muscle kinks. And, I was gently reminded by the lines in that movie while I dug into a delicious plate of North Texas barbecue: “threshing crews eating at outdoor tables. It continually reminds us of what once was, like an Indian-head penny in a handful of new coins. . . You talk a good dream.” And here I was. . . graciously invited into this magical and charming “Field of Glove-Making Dreams” in former Comanche Indian land at Nocona, Texas. It was a warm August evening, basked in a golden harvest moon, while friends and the Nokona family paid its kindly southern regards to two of their own and two of America’s finest but relatively obscure glove makers, Bobby Storey and Elvin Ray “Ab” Lemons. You see, the pair had just completed fifty years of time-honored employment with Nocona Athletic Goods, the last of the all-American made ball glove company's. The occasion brought echoes of past successes and human contentment, but in Nocona today you still experience much the same American texture of yesterday and perhaps a glimpse into tomorrow as well.

The two stately gentlemen were being honored in a way that could have taken place in the same manner when they first reported for full-time work at Nokona, in 1952, or back even earlier, in 1933 when the company started making sports equipment. During a brief and informal presentation at the celebration, Nokona’s new sales manager called the two glove makers “Legends - because that’s what their ball gloves stood for, American know-how and pride taken in a best-made product.”

A man of few words but a marveled craftsman who could literally conjure a sows ear into a playable baseball mitt, Mr. Lemons got up and fondly recalled the several men he worked with through his half-century and of the training that had been passed along to him from his old bosses.

His counter part and just as talented, Bobby Storey, had filled in at just about every job at Nokona. Bobby, the son of the sporting goods founder, R.E. “Bob” Storey had most recently served as president and now chairman of the board of Nokona. Though past retirement age like Mr. Lemons, he’s now serving at one of his favorite roles, that of ball glove designer.

At a time for employment in this country when five years is considered a long tenure with the same company, Ab and Bobby are not even the first to complete a half-century journey with Nocona Athletics. The now deceased Jewell Brickey, hit that milestone in 1993, after joining the company during World War II. That’s the kind of devotion that employees forge into this glove-making outfit. A devoted and sustained tenure here is not rare. Last year the company advertising, displayed along with Storey and Lemons, three other employees who had garnered 40 years with Nokona, Warren Clary, Bud Meekins, and Melvin Weedin.“

I don’t have to tell you that the one constant through all the years has been baseball”, wrote W.P. Kinsella. And the most constant of ball glove makers has been Nokona, and the men and women there who keep alive the tradition of American craftsmanship of ball glove making. The spirit of glove-making is still alive and well in Nocona, Texas.
