Pros: The glove was game ready after only a day of playing catch. Great glove for the price and was perfect for my 11 year old. Based on the size, he should be able to use for a few years before outgrowing.

Great Glove! JP coach

Pros: Like all Mizuno youth gloves that feature the power close technology, it was game ready from day 1. My 7 year old loves this glove and has already made some awesome plays at first this Fall that he probably couldn't have made with his basic mitt. Good quality and good performance. I give this glove and A+!

Cons: I should have ordered it sooner!

Son loves this glove L Long parent

Pros: Don't usually buy something like this, where fit is so important, off the internet but the 100 day return policy and free shipping both ways made it a no brainer. My 11 year old son loved this glove right out of the box. He used it, with very little break in time, in his last 2 games of fall ball.

Cons: none so far

Break through Brada geez Coach

Pros: Break in was easy for my 9 year old boy. His confidence at 1st base is sky high now. Great glove he loves it.

Cons: Nothing yet but seems like a glove that will only last 1 maybe 2 seasons tops. But only time will tell.

GREAT COPANY,GREAT PRODUCT MIKE Other

Pros: DELIVERED QUICKLY AND EXACTLY AS DISPLAYED AT A TRULY GOOD PRICE. MY 10 YEAR OLD SELECT FAST PITCH FIRST BASEMAN SAYS IT FITS LIKE A GLOVE AND CLOSES ON THE BALL ALMOST AUTOMATICALLY WITHIN 10 DAYS SHE WAS ABLE TO TRANSITION TO THIS GLOVE FROM HER WELL BROKEN IN GLOVE AND IS USING IT EXCLUSIVELY IN TOURNAMENT PLAY. GREAT YOUTH GLOVE, AND A GREAT JOB JUST BALL GLOVES.

Cons: HAVEN'T FOUND ANY YET, BUT I WILL SURE LET YOU KNOW IF IT CHANGES

Great glove great service!!!! Dan Coach

Pros: Come slightly broken in but only took a few days to get it broken in rest of the way by wrapping it with ball in it and hitting it with rubber mallet to add extra crease by thumb Bought it for my 7 year old daughter for softball. Was little worried at first about it holding the ball but once broken in works just fine for 11inch ball. I also would throw the ball hard into the webbing to try to give it a bit of a deeper pocket. Great starter glove for the price

Cons: Slightly heavy for my 7 year old just not many youth 1st base gloves out there. Lace in the webbing will probably break after a season or to almost seems like plastic not leather. It is leather just a hard leather not soft

1st base glove Christopher Tatum Coach

Pros: It feels sturdy. It's not cheap looking. They delivery was fast. It is as described on the site.

Cons: I bought it for my son for his 11th birthday. He is 5' and weighs 103lbs. The only drawback that it really needs to be broken in. It is very stiff out of the packaging. He can barely squeeze it. Just wish it was broken in a little. That's all.

Good beginner glove but hasn’t held up Allen Parent

Pros: Super easy to break in and a good price (I got it on sale 10 months ago).

Cons: I’ve been disappointed with how this glove has held up. I knew it wouldn’t be a forever glove, of course, but 10 months later we are already looking to replace it.

Great glove for the price Andrew Parent

Pros: For the price this is a quality glove. The pigskin leather and Power Close features make it game ready out of the box. We've been cleaning it weekly with a slightly damp cloth, and it is holding up great. Coach said he liked the glove.

Cons: Laces could be better, but are on par with other gloves at this price point. Conditioner helps the laces.

Mizuno Prospect youth 1st baseman mitt. Other

Pros: Came quickly and was probably 65-70% broken in and ready to use. Spent a few minutes on several days with mallet and glove conditioner and it worked great. Grandson is 8 playing travel ball and is well skilled in catching the ball and this mitt works for him now. I was worried it might be too big but he handles it just fine.

Cons: None so far. Let’s see how it does over the season but so far no complaints. It is as advertised in fit for a preteen hand.

Pros: Receivrd on a timely manner

Cons: Purchased for Grandson's 18th BD. Twice Laseing has snapped. Relaced the 1st time. Then snapped in another part of glove. As needed a glove the very next day. I had to go let him purchase another glove locally at twice the price. I was not aware of your 29.99. Return policy till after i purchased.

Jake
I am 12 years old and left handed. I've never had a first base mitt. Would this be a good glove for me? chico_da_bandito
For a player of your size, our glove coach would recommend a 12.00 inch model such as the Mizuno Prospect Series First Base Mitt (GXF102-BLK). This model does have a transitional hand sizing, which is suited for younger players with smaller hands. Additionally, it features a light weight game ready leather that is very easy to break in.
Joe
Do you have a left handed glove available? This glove was recommended by our 9 year old's baseball coach. He is a leftie and plays 1st base. Lynn
Unfortunately, we will not be getting anymore of the Mizuno Prospect Series First Base Mitt (GXF102-BLK) in a left hand thrower in stock.
Frankie
My son is 8 years old, and I am looking for a first base mitt that has a lot of padding. What would you recommend? stinger
The Mizuno Prospect Series First Base Mitt (GXF102-BLK) will be an ideal first base mitt for a player of his age. It features a factory broken in leather, along with additional palm padding as well as narrow finger stalls and a smaller wrist opening for younger players. You could also consider the Akadema Prodigy Series (AHC94-12 Youth First Base Mitt) as well.
Joe
I'm an adult in my early 50s and I play first base for slow pitch softball. Is this particular glove good for me? Jeremy_Balla
The Mizuno Prospect Series First Base Mitt (GXF102-BLK) features a 12" pattern and is designed for youth players.
Allison
My son is 11 and is 5'7". What would be the best size glove for him? Kev
Typically, for an 11 year old first baseman, I would recommend using a 12.00 inch pattern. This Mizuno Prospect Series First Base Mitt: GXF102-BLK Youth features a 12.00 inch pattern so I believe that it would be a perfect fit.
John P.
My son is 7 and 4'2'' and plays first base. He has always used a standard fielding glove. What size is ideal for him? Logan
In my opinion, I think that the 12.00" length and the youth fitting on this Mizuno Prospect Series First Base Mitt (GXF102-BLK Youth) will be pretty optimal for use by your 7 year old. It might be a little large in the fitting starting out, but with a little bit of growth he would be able to use it very well.
Ben
What size is this glove? danny
This Mizuno Prospect Series First Base Mitt (GXF102-BLK Youth) features a 12.00" length sizing on it. As well, it will be designed in its fitting for a younger player.
Ben
Is this glove good for high school players? Anonymous
This Mizuno Prospect Series First Base Mitt (GXF102-BLK Youth) will likely be too small for high school players. This is a youth mitt which means the finger stalls will be smaller and the wrist will fit tighter than adult mitts. Adult/High School first base mitts typically range in size from 12.25" to 13."
Taylor
Do you have this mitt in stock for a right handed thrower in a 12.5, or just in the 12 inch? the mighty Deuce ????????
Unfortunately we only carry this mitt in that specific size.
Kyle J.
My son uses a 11.5 of Mizuno"s Power Flex gloves. He"s 8, a lefty & now playing 1st base, will this 12 inch glove fit him? Team Mom
While a typical recommendation for an 8 year old playing 1st would be ~11.5", glove sizing recommendation are so variant from player to player. Therefore, if your player has above average hand size or you are looking for something for him to grow into, I do believe this Mizuno Prospect Series First Base Mitt: GXF102-BLK Youth could be a great fit as the youth model will have a smaller wrist opening and shorter finger stalls.
Tyler
My son is 8 yrs old and plays both rec and travel ball. He plays over 100 games per year. I've been looking for a new first base mitt and was wondering what would be your recommendation based on how much he plays? Thanks Coach Mike
I would recommend a more higher end model if you want a glove to last more than a season and playing that many games. Something like the Marucci RS225 12.25" (MFGRS125FB) or the Bradley Black Bandito 12" (BBB1200FBM).
Kyle J.
Will this glove work for youth fast pitch? boogs
I would not recommend this for fast pitch softball as it is a baseball glove and will not have the pocket size to comfortably catch softballs.
Kyle J.
What size is this glove? juan
The Mizuno Prospect Series First Base Mitt: GXF102-BLK Youth will be a 12.50'', but the hand openings are sized for youth players.
Max L
Will this glove be too big for a 7 year old? Brandon Tankesley
The Mizuno Prospect Series First Base Mitt: GXF102-BLK Youth would be too big for a 7 year old. For a player of that age we would recommend an 11.50-12.00 inch mitt.
Cameron
My son is almost 7 and I was wondering if this would be too big for him? He is a big athletic kid that has played 4 seasons of baseball, but not sure what size would be best for him at first/ Josh
In general, his age is the only thing that causes a hesitation in suggestion the Mizuno Prospect Series Youth First Base Mitt: GXF102-BLK. At a 12.5" pattern, it may be too much glove for a seven year older. Another option at 11.5" to consider, Rawlings Renegade 11.5" Youth First Base Mitt: R115FBM.
Daveron
Does this come in a 12" size? And if not, does the .5" make that much of a difference? It's for my granddaugher who is playing 14U softball. brian
We do offer a Mizuno Prospect Youth glove in a 12" size, but not in a 1B mitt. If the player is 14, I would not recommend a youth glove either as it most likely will be too small to fit their hand. I would recommend an adult model. Generally speaking though, a .5" size difference is not noticed by most players, although glove size is mostly personaln preference.
Kyle
My son will be 11 in January. Is this glove a good fit for him? Frank Distefano
Yes, since the Mizuno Prospect Series Youth First Base Mitt: GXF102-BLK is a youth model this would be a good fit for him.
Tori
What size is this? I need a 12 in but it says 12.5 in. James
This is a 12.5" model.
Kyle
Our son is 7, would this work for him? Erica Conley
The Mizuno Prospect Series Youth First Base Mitt: GXF102-BLK would be too big, in our opinion, for a 7 year old player. Our general recommendation would be an 11.50 inch mitt for someone that is 7 years old.
Cameron
I’m 15 standing at 5'11" and I'm 170 lbs. Is this suitable for me to use? Pablo
The Mizuno Prospect 12.5" Youth Baseball First Base Mitt: GXF102-BLK would not be recommend for a 15 year old unless the player was playing more recreationally. The leather and padding quality on this mitt would not last long at higher levels of play. A better mitt to consider would be the Mizuno Prime Elite 12.5" Baseball First Base Mitt: GPE-300FBM.
