Description

Mizuno is known for making it their priority to develop ball gloves for every age and skill level. The Prospect Series is tailor made to fit a young ball player's hand. Multiple technologies make it easier for younger players to close the glove, catch the ball and learn to love the game. These gloves help youth players catch the "right" way, in the pocket. Mizuno's patented PowerClose technology places "hinges" where players would close the glove to make squeezing the ball and making the catch as simple as can be! This Prospect Series glove features a V-Flex notch that gives the glove a break point to make closure even EASIER! Inside the glove, a ParaShock Palm Pad reduces all shock caused by impact and leaves the player's hand sting-free! This mitt also utilizes Mizuno's adjustable wrist strap to create a snug, comfortable and custom fit for every player. This model features a closed back for ultimate control and a Tartan basket web to help players snag anything that comes their way! Mizuno: Be Yourself, Only Better! Free Shipping!

Pros: Practiced with it on the afternoon it was delivered and then played in game 2 days later. Glove was as described. All it took was just a little working in with glove oil. His previous glove was also a Mizuno Prospect Series and so he stayed with this brand. My son's fingers and wrists are small and this glove fit him perfect. Easy to close and no sting. Overall, great glove!

Cons: The alternative thumb pocket on the back of the glove was different and didn't show well on the photos. Matter of preference, but it also has the traditional thumb pocket as well.

Awesome glove!!

Pros: Wonderful soft leather that comes almost completely broken in. Can start catching the day it arrives. My son uses this for short stop, out field and pitching and had very little break in time. Worth every penny and Justballgloves was awesome shipped very quickly!! We will only buy our gloves here now!

Cons: Can't think of one

Coach and Dad

Pros: Great for kids while developing catching skills. Power Close feature is also great for kids with small or weak grips. Overall a very good glove at a reasonable price. Purchased for 7yr old originally.

Cons: After summer season and fall season, glove has become very flimsy. If ball is not caught deep in pocket, it will push through top of webbing.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Mizuno Prospect Series: GPL1203 Youth? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

Is this a good size for an experienced 11 yr old? He plays first base or pitcher. We already purchased the 12 inch Mizuno First Baseman's mitt but now I am second guessing the size. AP
Typically an eleven year old pitcher would use a 11.25" glove. If he is on the bigger size, you could go up to a 11.50" glove. A 12.00" is the recommended size for a first baseman.
Kara
What do you think about this glove for a 10 year old travel player playing almost solely CF. He has a 11.25 but seems small for a OF. Please let me know your thoughts on this. Matthew
Since the Mizuno Prospect Series: GPL1203 is a 12" Youth model, it would be a good option an outfielder between the ages of 10 and 12.
Tyler
At what age do players generally move from youth gloves to adult gloves? I have a 12 year old in travel (OF and Pitcher) and think he should soon move to adult size. He is on the tall side. cuman28
In general, most players start to use an adult model glove around the age of 12. I would recommend an adult model as he may get more use from it than the Mizuno Prospect Series: GPL1203 Youth glove. For further sizing information, please visit out Glove Coach at http://www.justballgloves.com/glove-coach/ We offer an 100 day return return policy on all of our gloves. We will take the glove back for exchange or refund, for any reason, within the 100 days.

My son is 9 and an outfielder on a travel team. It is time for a new glove and a thinking the 11" that he has is a little too small. Do you recommend the 12" for a 9 year old? Ken
An 11.5" glove is the recommended size for a 9 or 10 year old outfielder.
Tyler
My 12 year old son uses an 11.5 inch mizuno prospect, needs a bigger glove, would you recommend the 12 inch prospect or moving up to an adult glove? And if so, which adult glove is comparable? He pitches, plays 2nd, shortstop, and center. Has one more year of little league. Thank You, Denise Denise
If you want your son to get more than one season of use out of his next glove, then an adult model would be recommended. The closest comparison in an adult model to the Mizuno Prospect Series would be the Mizuno MVP Series.
Tyler
My son just turned 10 and plays shortstop and first base. He has an 11.5inch glove now and seems small for him. Is this glove appropriate in 12inch? Amom
If a 11.5 inch glove seems to small then I would go with the 12 inch Mizuno Prospect Series: GPL1203 Youth.
Chad M.
My son plays SS, pitches, and outfield on a 10u team. He is in his 2nd year with an 11 inch Mizuno prospect. I am considering adding another, larger, glove for when he plays outfield. Curious if 11.50" is a good progression, or is 12 inch better? Jim
Based on his age, we suggest using an 11.50" model, like the Mizuno Prospect Series (GPP1152) Youth, when he plays in the outfield. The Mizuno Prospect Series (GPL1203) Youth is a 12" model and might be a little too much glove for him right now.
Jason
My son plays 7u travel ball and he needs another glove. He has small hands and has an 11 inch now. He plays infield and outfield. What would you recommend? Tim
The 12 inch design of the Mizuno Prospect Series (GPL1203) would be a good size for utility style play at several positions. The youth style will keep the glove secure on his hand.
