First Baseman 23

Pros: Love the glove. First game was today snatched a hard line drive hit on the first base line. Still working it in. I think this glove will be a beast when completely broke in.

Cons: If you got XXL hands don't buy will be to tight. It's a little tight for my XL hands.

Pros: After trying a bunch of new 1b gloves, I returned them all and kept this one. It's the perfect size. Not too big or small. Nice deep pocket for softball. Mizuno quality is standard. Comfortable and about half broke in to allow personal desired forming.

Cons: None.

Terrible glove Ryan player

Pros: 13" pattern

Cons: this is the worst glove i have ever owned. if you play competitive baseball dont even think about buying this glove. The ball always pops out and i have had it for almost a year and i cant even close it. Dont buy this glove if you are a competitive baseball player because you will just be wasting your money. This glove doesnt even deserve 1 star

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Mizuno MVP Series: GXF56 First Base Mitt? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

what is the difference between a fielders glove and a first base mitt? kalani
A first baseman's glove is larger and it has more padding than a fielder's glove. And is also position specific and can't be used anywhere else in the field.
JH
Does this glove have an open back? grey42
This glove does have a small opening to make it an open back. It depends on how tight the glove is, but this glove is considered an open back.
Brett
Would you consider this a college level glove? Joe
Yes. It's made from a high-quality steerhide and would make a good collegiate level glove.
Sean
Could this be used in baseball even though it says 13.00 Inch Softball Sized Model and Softball Pattern??? Lesa
Sure. It is designed with a larger pocket to accomodate a softball, but it can be used in baseball especially if the player prefers a mitt with a larger pocket.
JH
is this good for a varsity baseball player joe
Oh, most definitely! Will break in quickly, good qulaity with Mizuno.
lkh
Yes. This glove is made with quality leather and will be very durable.

Need a first base mitt for a 6 4 big 16 year old with large hands. We purchased a Rawlings Renagade and it is way to small. He has a Rawlings 12.75 gold glove for 3rd base that works well. your suggestions for a Christmas gift. Mel
Mizuno and Rawlings first base mitts typically fit larger hands more comfortably as they offer a bit more room compared to other brands. The Mizuno GXF22, Rawlings PRODCTDCC, Rawlings PROSDCTBR and Rawlings PROCMHCB2 would be 4 of the best options.
Derek
is this glove to big for a 11 year old fastpitch 12" ball Mr. C
No, this would be a great option for a 11 year old fastpitch firstbasemen.
John
Need a first baseman mitt for a 10 yr. old boy that plays travel ball. What do you recommend? jc

Tyler
Is this glove for baseball or softball? Big Nate
The Mizuno MVP Series is a softball glove.
Kara
My daughter is 18, 5'7 and 145 lbs. She plays at the college level, she pitches and plays first base at times, but does not want to spend 200/300 dollars. Is this glove for her? Fastpitchdad70
The Mizuno MVP Series is a little large. We recommend a 12.75" glove for her.
Kara
What is the difference between Mizuno MVP series GX55 and GX56. My son is 13 with decent sized hands. Jeff
They will be similar however, the Mizuno GX56 has a softball pattern and an adjustable Velcro wrist strap for large and small hands.
Damon
Can you use this glove for baseball, or just softball? Me
The Mizuno MVP Series: GXF56 First Base Mitt could be used for baseball if you would like to do so.
Tom
Would this glove be good for a 17 year old girl that is 5'4? Chi
The Mizuno MVP is a men's softball glove so it might be a little big. However, it does have an adjustable strap to accommodate a smaller hand.
Kara
Is this glove good for high school fast pitch? ebrad
Yes, the Mizuno MVP Series: GXF56 First Base Mitt would be perfect for a high school first baseman.
Frank
My 14 year old daughter is playing fast pitch, she is 5'6" 110 lbs. She currently uses a 12" mitt and needs something bigger. Would this be a good option for her? Also, I have read reviews that say this is a heavy mitt, what is the weight of this mitt? Mare
The Mizuno MVP Series (GXF56) would be a great option if you wanted to go with a larger mitt. Unfortunately, Mizuno does not give the individual weights for the gloves, as the weight varies slightly due to the leather material. This will most likely be heavier than the 12" she currently has, as the 13" will feature much more material. Keep in mind we have our 100 day guarantee, so you can send it back for a full refund or exchange if it's not exactly like you want.

What is the difference between the gxf56 and the gxf50 models? tree
The Mizuno MVP Series (GXF56 First Base Mitt) will feature a softball pattern and be 13" in size. The Mizuno MVP Prime Series First Base Mitt (GXF50PB1) will be a baseball/softball pattern. It will also be 13" in size. Both feature a game ready feel to the leather, and will have an adjustable velcro wrist strap. These mitts are very close to being the exact same thing.
Brandon
I currently use an Easton Salvo First Base Mitt for my softball league. I'm not really too thrilled with it. How does the GXF56 compare, and what are the differences between the two? mack
The Mizuno MVP Series (GXF56 First Base Mitt) and the Easton Salvo Series mitts will both feel very soft and break-in very easily. The Salvo will have a lighter feel and play weight compared to the Mizuno. Also, the GXF56 will have a better durability over its lifespan than the Easton Salvo Series. Both are very popular selections here at BallGloveWarehouse.
