Pros: My son is 13 and this is a fantastic glove for the player transitioning from youth to middle/high school ball. Very easy break in period and a nice price point. Fits smaller hands.

Cons: None

Pros: Awesome!!! glove for youth players and small hands +/- 12 years old. MY son and daughter BOTH use this glove for baseball/softball. (12 year old twins) Model GMVP1200PY1... tar "Y" is for youth. Three things that make this glove great... 1) It fits a youth hand! 2) The leather medium weight. Some of the more expensive gloves have "heavy thicker leather" that might be great for an Adult. But its over kill for kids. It makes it too hard to squeeze... and the ball will pop out. 3) GREAT quality! Even though the leather is medium weight its incredible quality for the price! He has another glove over $200, there is no comparison, this glove is way better. My son/daughter mostly both pitch and mostly play SS. However, its also a perfect glove outfield or any position. I think at this age buying a glove for specific positions is more for marketing and sales. A good glove is a good glove. Buy it, your kids will love it.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Mizuno MVP Prime Future Series: GMVP1200PY1 Youth? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

My 13 year old son is 5 foot 4 inches tall with medium size hands and he plays the outfield. This glove says it is an infield and pitcher model. Should he look to choose a different model for the outfield? How does this differ from an outfield model? Any suggestions as he likes Mizuno gloves? Pat
If your player had small hands, the Mizuno MVP Prime Future Series (GMVP1200PY1) could work but it is a youth model that most 13 years old players would have too big of hands to fit. Normally, outfield specific players will like a longer glove pattern like the one on the Mizuno MVP Prime Series (GMVP1275P1).

My 12 year old has outgrown his Prospect Series 11.5 inch glove. He is 5 feet tall and weighs 100 pounds. We are looking for a glove with thicker leather than the old one. He pitches, plays 3rd and occasionally center field. He likes the GMVP1200PY1 and GMVP1150PY1. What is the difference between the Tartan Shock web and Arched Tartan web? bmartin
The web for the Mizuno MVP Prime Future Series (GMVP1200PY1) is a bit more closed and the pocket is bigger than on the Mizuno MVP Prime Future Series (GMVP1150PY1).

My son is 11 soon to be 12. He is 4'9" and 70 lbs... so not a big kid. He has an Akadema AZR95 that seems small for him. He pitches, plays S.S. and outfield. I am looking at this Mizuno GMVP1200PY1. Would this be a good choice for his next glove? Also looking at the Rawlings GG Gamer XLE 6120PTGN. Thanks for any advice. Lilac
Both are good models and will be similar in quality and durability. The GG Gamer Pro Taper series is more of a transitional model between youth and adult, whereas the Mizuno will be a true youth model. Being that he is 12 the Rawlings may be a better fit, but either would be a good choice.

My son is a lefty, almost 12 yrs old 5'1'' and weighs 105 lbs. He needs an outfield glove. (If it could double as a pitcher's glove, that would be great.) He currently uses a Louisville Slugger Genesis 12 in. I'm looking at this Mizuno and the Shoeless Joe Professional Series: 1200VL. Which do you recommend and what size range? Thanks for your input! Del
The Mizuno MVP Prime Future Series (GMVP1200PY1 Youth) would be a good glove to consider for someone playing both outfield and pitcher. We would recommend getting between a 11.75 inch to 12.00 inch pattern glove. This Mizuno glove would be the best option up to this point.
