Basebawl

Pros: Extremely good leather quality and very thick leather (your hand will thank you). Stiff at arrival, but after daily bullpens, it's all fine. But it can be months for some players to break in.

Cons: Can feel heavy for some persons (not light at all). No way to adjust the closure on the hand.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Mizuno Global Elite Series: GXC10 Catcher's Mitt? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

How long should this mitt last as long as it is well maintained? Cba
There really is no time frame for gloves to last, if it is well maintained it could last up to 3 or 4 years
Sean
Can a 12 year old youth use this glove? Or, is a 32.5 youth glove recommended? Is the hand size too different? This is for a serious catcher. Doug
The average size catcher's mitt for a 12 year old is 32 to 32.5 inches. The GXC10 is a 32.5 inch model and it's an excellent choice. Hand size would be significantly different. Usually players who want to focus on transitioning the ball as quickly as possible from glove to hand will get a slightly smaller mitt. Players want a bigger pocket to snag those balls in the dirt or players who struggle closing their mitt around a ball will typically lean towards a bigger size

My 12-year-old travel catcher son is complaining that he is having trouble getting to some of the faster pitches because he feels his current mitt is too heavy to maneuver quickly. Is this mitt truly one of the lightest available? Are there any other quality 32-32.5" mitts you would recommend that are especially lightwight? MSKdad
Yes the Mizuno Global Elite Series Catcher's mitt is very light and would be a great fit for your 12 yr old son. Here is a link to a couple of other 32.50 inch catcher's mitts that would be light. http://www.justballgloves.com/compare/

What do you think whould be a better glove for a 12 year catcher with small hands Mizuno Global Elite Series: GXC10 Catcher's Mitt or the Shoeless Joe catchers mitt? bstefan
The Shoeless Joe Cather's mitt runs a little big. The Mizuno Global Elite Series: GXC10 Catcher's Mitt would be a better fit for a player with small hands.

What is the difference between this glove and the Rawlings PROJP20MX? Which would you recommend? casey
The Mizuno Global Elite Series (GXC10) and the Rawlings Heart of the Hide Pro Mesh Series (PROJP20MX) will be similar in terms of lightweight design. The main difference would be the mesh backing on the Heart of the Hide will allow the player's hand to breath a bit more.
Patrick
I'm a junior in high school, and I use the Allstar (CM3100SBT). I like a smaller mitt but my glove has a lot of sting in it. Would this glove hold up good for me when pitchers are throwing around 90 mph? ant
The Mizuno Global Elite Series: (GXC10) Catcher's Mitt will incorporate E-Lite leather which will be soft, light but very protective. Therefore, this model should be able to hold up in high levels of competition, and still help reduce sting.
Merritt
How does this Mizuno Glove compare to the Shoeless Joe Professional Series 3400cm? This is for an adult. Anthony
The Shoeless Joe Professional Series (3400CM) is a larger pattern and slightly heavier than the Mizuno Global Elite Series (GXC10). The Mizuno will also be a bit stiffer out of the box. Both could be used well by an adult player.
Patrick
How would this compare to a Rawlings Heart of the Hide Dual Core catchers mitt? Grant
The Mizuno Global Elite Series (GXC10) would compare well with the Rawlings Heart Of The Hide Dual Core Series (PROCM33DCM). They would have similar styles of leather and break-in time.
