Pros: Break in is fairly simple and very comfortable has a nice pocket to capture the ball.

Cons: Mitt was very stiff, I thought with the name pro-soft it would have been a little better however it became very flexible in a very short time.

Pros: Fast Break In.. Molded perfectly to my hand when breaking in. Really nice deep pocket for picking the ball off the hop. I used a soft ball to mold in a good pocket. I only oiled the pocket and laces VERY LITEY once. Worth the $$.$$..

Cons: None at all... Thx Mizuno

Pros: Breaks in extremely fast.. Forms a great pocket. Secure fit on the hand. Simple break in. Great pop and feel.

Cons: Dries out a little fast. I've had it for about a month and a half and its already a little dry. I oiled it and it was taken care of. Looks like new after oiling it a little. Other than that, Mizuno has done another great job with this glove.

Pros: I've had this glove for three years now. Greatest glove I've ever owned. comes stiff, which means you can mold it to your own specifications. Nice leather, stays molded.

Cons: Long break in time (which is actually a good thing, means the glove is pretty durable). Leather dries in the palm, so keep it oiled.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Mizuno Classic Pro Soft Series: GXF26 First Base Mitt? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

Hi, I am interested to know about your first baseman glove GXF26 Left hand. This glove would be for my son he is 9 years of age. Do you think he is to small or too young for this glove? He is a first baseman. What other first baseman glove do you recommend for a 9 year old? Thank you. Regitnam
Honestly, a 12 inch firstbase mitt will be recommended for a 9 or 10 year old. A 12.5 inch firstbase mitt would probably be better suited for a 13 year old. A few others to look at would be the Wilson A2000 series, Akadema Precision series, or Worth Liberty Advanced series.

My son is a 10 yr old big (5'7", 126 lbs) is 12.5" the correct size for him to play 1st base? Flip
Yes, for his size a 12 to 12.5 would be the norm. The 12.5 will give him time to grow.
Mark
Hi I am 5 feet 9 inches tall 145 pounds and I'm 13 is this a recommended size glove or can I maybe wear a 13 Chase
This is a great link that we have that helps decide what size glove you should use and what type; http://www.justballgloves.com/glove-coach/

Is a 13 inch glove too big for a 14 year old beginning High School? About 5ft 7in. heb
Yes. A 13 inch glove would be too big for a 14 year old. It's rare for Major League outfielders to use a glove that's 13 inches or longer. In the MLB the average size outfielders glove is 12.5 to 12.75 inches. In High School, the average size outfielders glove would be between 12 and 12.75 inches. If he plays multiple positions, I would look at a glove around 11.75 or 12 inches.

What is the best way to break this glove in. On the glove one of the tags said pre-oiled game ready but it's not even close to game ready? Sim
A great technique is to apply a small amount of oil to the entire surface of the glove with a cloth or sponge. Then place a baseball or two in the pocket of the glove and wrap it with some large rubberbands. Let the glove sit overnight. The next day, take it out and start working with it by playing catch, throwing a ball into the pocket, or hitting the pocket with a wooden mallet. Whenever it is not in use, be sure to wrap it back up. Repetition is key and be sure no to apply too much oil. Most high school and collegiate level players don't apply oil to their glove more than once or twice during the season.

O.K. I read the question abouting breaking in the glove so I have bought the brek in kit but the oil in it is Rawling. Even if this glove is a Mizuno will it hurt my glove??? Sim
It will not hurt the glove. Glove oils are all basically the same, only small little differences. The Mizuno and Rawlings glove oils are very similar. This will not hinder the glove in any way.
Brett
Is this glove recommended for fastpitch softball? Pat
The GXF26 is a baseball mitt, but it does have a somewhat deeper pocket and may be ok in certain situations for fastpitch play.
Mark
Hi, I currently have a rawlings Heart of the hide first basemens mitt, its 12.75 inches, great glove, but its just not for me, I'm interested on this mizuno classic pro soft, the pro limited 12.50 in., and the global elite one 13 in. The Mizuno Classic Pro Soft Series: GXF26 First Base Mitt is slightly large for a 10 year old at 12.50". We recommend a 12.00" model, such as the Worth Liberty Advanced Series: LA1FBB First Base Mitt, which also features a soft, full grain leather.

Does this glove run smaller compared to the other 12.5" models? It appears other Mizuno models run smaller then their competitors gloves marked at the same size? j
The Mizuno Classic Pro Soft Series (GXF26 First Base Mitt) should not run smaller compared to other models at the same size. It should run true to size.
Brandon
I am 4'5", weigh 75 lbs and I'm 10 years old. What size do I need? BallerSpar15
Based on your age and position, we suggest a 12" model. The Mizuno Classic Pro Soft Series (GXF26) First Base Mitt is a 12.50" pattern and is probably a little too big for you. The Mizuno Prospect Series (GXF101) Youth First Base Mitt is a 12" pattern and would be a better fit.
Jason
My son is 12 years old and 114 pounds and about 5 foot 2 inches. I am trying to decide between this glove at 12.50 inches and the Wilson 12 inches A2000 for first base. Which do you think would suit him better? Strongman
Using our glove coach and your sons age it is recommending a 12.00 inch glove size. It looks like the Mizuno Classic Pro Soft Series (GXF26 First Base Mitt) 12.50 inch. I have provided a link below with the youth 12.00 inch models. http://www.justballgloves.com/products/size~12.00/sub%20type~first%20base/glove%20type~youth/?utm_source=justbats&utm_campaign=unified-cart-global&utm_medium=jump-link
Frankie
