Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Mizuno Classic Pro Soft Series: GCP56S? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

I am 15 and a pitcher with a decent size hand. Is this a good size? Should I go to a bigger size? Kevin
Glove size ultimately comes down to player preference, but the 11.75" pattern on the Mizuno Classic Pro Soft Series (GCP56S) is a great fit for a 15 year old pitcher. Most pitchers use an 11.75" or a 12" glove.

I have a seven year old son who is starting club ball. He currently has an 11 inch Mizuno that is falling apart inside where the fingers go. I know this might be a bit too large of a pattern for him at first, but I want a glove that will last and one he can grow into. Would this glove or the Nokona S200 11.25 inch pattern be suitable for him? Michael
The Nokona Alpha Select Series (S200) would be more of a youth model than the Mizuno Classic Pro Soft Series (GCP56S). It would fit better right now. The Mizuno Classic Pro Soft is more of an adult glove that would be good when the player is older and their hands are bigger.

I play 3rd and I'm looking for a glove with a deep pocket and good ball security. My JJ Hardy model doesn't on some back hands. Should I go with this or a NP5 or a custom 44 pro modeled after Manny Machados NP5? Guzzy13
Both the Mizuno Classic Pro Soft Series: GCP56S and the Rawlings Heart of the Hide Game Day Series: PRONP5JB would be good gloves to consider for someone that plays 3B (not familiar with the 44 pro). Both of these gloves have 11.75 inch patterns and higher quality leather. The Rawlings Heart of the Hide Game Day Series: PRONP5JB will take more time to break-in when compared to the Mizuno Classic Pro Soft Series: GCP56S. The pockets on both gloves are going to be very similar and should allow for good ball security on both regular ground-balls as well as those needing to be backhanded.

I'm also looking for a glove to use at third and pitch. Most modified I webs like this I've noticed are primarily softball gloves. Is this considered to be used for softball or baseball? Andrew
The Mizuno Classic Pro Soft Series: GCP56S is classified as a baseball glove.

My son is a 11 year old left hand thrower that plays center and pitcher on a travel/tournament team. He currently has a 11.5" Mizuno Prime. Would this glove be too big/heavy for him? baseball mom
If that 11.5" Mizuno Prime is working well for him I see no reason why this Mizuno Classic Pro Soft Series: GCP56S would be too heavy for him. I think this would be a great option.

Would this glove be good for someone in high school who plays outfield? db
At 11.75", the Mizuno Classic Pro Soft Series: GCP56S is going to be too small of a glove for traditional outfield use. High school outfielders generally use gloves that range in size from 12.25"-12.75".
Marcus
My son is 10 and plays 3B, pitcher and sometimes OF on a travel team. Is this glove too big for him? Would you recommend a youth glove? If so, what glove and size would you recommend? thanks mike
I would highly recommend the Mizuno Classic Pro Soft Series (GCP56S) for your son. If your sons hands are a little smaller than average I would recommend checking out the 2016 Mizuno Prospect Series Youth Black/Silver Glove: GPT1175Y1 for a year before his hands grow enough to use this one.
