Pros: Very quick break in. Great quality leather. Unimaginable that a youth glove could have better quality than this glove. I was going to buy the Nakona, but went with the Mizuno because of my own experience using the brand and because it cost about $70 less than the Nakona.

Cons: No cons so far. I cannot imagine anything coming up.

Pros: breaks in very fast. Very nice leather. I think the A2000 Pedroia fit glove is slightly tighter. Strings just OK, not like a good Rawlings glove.

Pros: My 7 year old really likes this glove. It took awhile to break in, but is working great now

Cons: turned his hand black first time out, but that got better with use.

Pros: I bought this for my 7 year old who plays on a tournament team. This is the best youth glove I found, and I've tried quite a few, including the Shoeless Joe Jr series. Have not tried the Nokona or A1K, but those are more expensive. Leather is very soft and easily breaks in. Almost ready to play with on day 1. It's held up very well so far. I would definitely buy one again for a 7 or 8 year old.

Cons: It pretty soft now and is losing some of its shape after a couple seasons, but that is expected for a soft leather glove like this. If you want the easy break in for kids, you have to know it won't hold its shape as long as the stiffer leather gloves will.

Pros: My son has had this glove for a year and is about to turn 8. It's a fantastic glove for young kids. Real leather, and soft enough to break in very quickly. Definitely a high quality youth glove, which is hard to find.

Cons: Price. Expensive but high quality gloves are going to be expensive.

Swamp Donkey

Pros: This is a very nice glove with thick but soft and workable leather. My son is on his 3rd season with it and has used it almost exclusively. Played well over 100 games with and probably 50,000 ground balls in practice and its still in good shape. I can't say enough about this glove, Mizuno is the best there is in my opinion.

Cons: More people don't spend money on a good glove for their kid. They buy them a $300 bat that gets used 3-4 times a game but spend $40 bucks on a glove that they use the whole time on defense. Buy your kid a nice glove, this is one.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Mizuno Classic Pro Soft Future Series: GCP41F Youth? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

I'm 12 and I have small to very small wrists (typically a youth med batting glove is a bit too big). I'm deciding between this and the Youth MVP Prime I-Web. I'm wondering what the advantage is paying $70 more and also do you think it will fit (I have no problem with tightening the wrist I have done it before)? Thank you for your time. Alex
The 11.25" size of the Mizuno Classic Pro Soft Future Series (GCP41F Youth) should fit you fine at your size and age. The difference in price will indicate different leather quality. Either of these gloves would be perfect for a player like you.

How much does it weigh? Alex
We are unsure as to how much the Mizuno Classic Pro Soft Future Series (GCP41F Youth) glove will weigh. If you'd like to call Mizuno and check, here is their contact information: 1-800-966-1211.

How long would an 8 year old be able to use this glove? He is big for his age. Bob
If the player ends up playing mainly infield, an 11.25" pattern like this Mizuno Classic Pro Soft Future Series (GCP41F) Youth glove could be good until the player is well-into high school. Some infielders even choose to use the 11.25" size throughout their career, if they like a smaller pocket. Regarding the fit on the hand, that's harder to estimate when the player would grow out of a Youth fit. I would say that players can typically use a Youth fit until about 11 or 12 years old, but hand size is your biggest factor in that useful life.

My son is soon to be 9. He has small hands and wrists. Would this glove fit him? Do you have any other suggestions of good gloves in the 11.25 or 11.50 that would suit a smaller hand best. We had a Mizuno prospect and would like to move up to a slightly better glove. Mason e
The Mizuno Classic Pro Soft Future Series (GCP41F) Youth Glove would be ideal for a player with smaller hands and wrists. This glove is specifically designed as a utility fielders model and features a pre-oiled throwback leather which allows for a fairly easy break-in process.
Joe
Do you think a freshman that plays 3rd base would like this small of a glove? Chris Florence
The Mizuno Classic Pro Soft Future Series (GCP41F Youth) features an 11.25 inch pattern. Typically, most 3rd basemen prefer a glove in the 11.25-11.75 inch patterns.
Joe
Is this glove real leather? Cruz
Yes, the Mizuno Classic Pro Soft Future Series (GCP41F) Youth features Mizuno's real Throwback Leather that is rugged, rich, and naturally pre-oiled to help ensure a long lasting effect.
Tom
Are these the only colors? Eddie
Unfortunately this is the only color that Mizuno offers the Mizuno Classic Pro Soft Future Series (GCP41F) Youth at this time.
Damon
How is the padding on this glove? Lillie Castilla
This Mizuno Classic Pro Soft Future Series (GCP41F Youth) will feature an Ultra Soft Pro Palm Liner to help protect younger players using this glove from extra discomfort that can come from catching balls in the palm area.
Ben
Would this glove be too big for a 7 year old? Adam
Typically, for a 7 year old, I would recommend a glove with something between a 10.00 - 10.50 inch pattern. The Mizuno Classic Pro Soft Future Series: GCP41F Youth features an 11.25 inch pattern so it may be a tad too large for a 7 year old or it would be a glove that your player would have to grow in to.

Is the only difference the leather between this glove and the Mizuno MVP Prime Future Series: GMVP1125PY1 Youth? Will you go into greater detail in the differences? matt
Both of these models will feature a conventional open back, deep III web and a youth model fit with the smaller hand opening and tighter finger stalls. With that said, these gloves will not be constructed the same with regards to the leather that is used. The Mizuno Classic Pro Soft Future Series: GCP41F Youth will feature a higher leather quality that will be more supple. The higher leather quality will also allow this glove to retain its shape longer (i.e. more durable).

I am 14 and going to be a freshman this year. I play middle infield and sometimes outfield and have pretty small hands. My Wilson A2000 is a 11.50" and it is kinda big on me but it works. How would this glove benefit me? hojo
I don't believe the Mizuno Classic Pro Soft Future Series (GCP41F Youth) would offer any benefits to you. Since it is a youth glove it is not going to hold up well to the rigors and speed of the high school game. Instead I would recommend looking at A2000's that feature the Dustin Pedroia fit like the 2016 Wilson A2000 SuperSkin Series (A20RB16DP15SS). A2000's with the Dustin Pedroia fit have smaller wrist openings and tighter finger stalls for smaller hands.
Jake
Do you know what Jose Iglesias' glove model is? hojo
We are not aware of the exact glove that Jose Iglesias uses. With that said, some gloves that would be comparable would be the following: Mizuno Global Elite Jinama Leather Series: GGE60J1, and the Mizuno Global Elite VOP Series: GGE60VBK.
Cameron
How does the size of the hand opening compare to the size of the hand opening on a glove with a DP15 fitting? As well, how would the overall weight compared to an 11.25" model of glove with a DP15 fitting? Brent
The wrist opening and finger stalls featured on this Mizuno Classic Pro Soft Future Series (GCP41F Youth) will be pretty similar to the wrist opening and finger stalls featured on a glove that features the DP15 fitting. As well, the weight on this Mizuno should be pretty similar to the weight you would have on a model of glove with a 11.25" length and DP15 fitting.
