Description

The Brett Brothers entered the baseball business with the goal of ensuring that coaches at all levels of baseball have access to superior quality products that are cost effective. Consistency and durability were the primary factors when establishing their glove designs. The Brett Brothers have been involved in baseball their entire lives, through Bobby and John's Minor League careers to the Professional careers of Ken and George. The Brett Brothers know baseball. Even today baseball is an important part of their lives, with each brother being involved in their own way. George, who is still a part of the Kansas City Royals Organization and a hometown hero here in Kansas City, was a career .305 hitter with 3 Batting Titles, a 1985 World Series Ring and an induction to the Hall of Fame in 1999 to round out his 21 year career in Kansas City. Not only did he prove to be a consistent hitter he showed that he had the knowledge to succeed. The Pro Legend Series gloves are crafted from the prime of the hide leather for that added comfort and quality. They also come with the padded leather palm lining and enduro-stabilizer. Pros: Nice leather, surprised by the quality. For the price this is the best 1-bag glove on the market. I tried every glove I could find and this one feels like a $300 glove. Solid craftmanship all around.

Cons: Stiff as a board, but thats how they should be! Formed nice after a week or so.

Pros: Leather is of very high quality steerhide, and clearly this is an adult-sized glove meant to last many years. The palm lining appears to be same steerhide as the cover, and eventually molded nicely to my fingers for a perfect fit.

Cons: Long break-in time needed, but to be expected considering the sturdy leather used. Pocket laces got a bit loose/sloppy after initial use, but were easily tightened during the break-in period. Maybe they stretched?

Pros: Leather is nice and good quality, took the oil and break-in well. Good price; I've been playing softball for 25 years and didn't want to spend $100 plus again for the amount I play, this works well but I wish I had not left my 6 year old Zett mitt at a diamond last year and lost it.

Cons: The glove is a bit loose, especially since this is the first year I've played with it, but not unexpected at this price point. The pocket hasn't formed as well as I'd like and it doesn't funnel the ball into the pocket as well as gloves I've had in the past (higher quality Mizuno and Zett mitts) so it doesn't scoop nearly as well.

Pros: I'm a 65 year old grandfather who has three grandsons who play little league ball. I enjoy buying the boys their gloves and begin breaking them in and then have them complete the process. I saw the Brett 1st baseman's mitt and thought it would be perfect for one of the bigger boys. I was right. I like the quality of the leather- it has a soft but stiff surface that reminds me of the gloves I had as a kid. They weren't plastic or mesh and required some work to get them in shape for play. I like the workmanship and the leather interior- things one would expect from the Brett name. I also like the color. This glove gives one the feeling that when it's fully broken in you'll have something that is tough and will last a long time if taken care of properly. In addition, I would order from ballglove warehouse again--their service is fantastic as I had the glove in hand a few days after ordering and this time span included the 4th of July.

Cons: It does take a while to break in but I feel it will be well worth it.

Is this Brett First Base mitt a good glove for softball or would you recommend something different under $100? rdv2003

Kris
How long should this glove last? I'm in tenth grade and I'm looking for a glove that will last up to at least my sophomore year of college? Firstbasemanforlife
The PLSFB is a pretty good quality mitt. It should last more than a few years, but unfortunately, gloves don't come with set lifespans and I would be unable to guarantee it lasts until your Sophomore year of College.
Tyler
I've only played with Rawling and Wilson gloves before. Is this a high quality brand? Firstbasemanforlife
Yes. Brett Bros. makes very high quality product. The PLSFB is a great first base mitt.

Hi i cant decide between this glove and the Akedema AJJ254-12. I like my glove to be very sturdy and to have a big pocket. which would you prefer? bigb820
Both the Brett Bros. Pro Legend Series: PLSFB First Base Mitt and the Akadema Pro Soft Series: AJJ254-12 First Base Mitt have a soft, game-ready feel. The Akadema AJJ254-12 has a slightly deeper pocket than the Brett Bros. PLSFB.

About the Brand

The Brett Brothers “entered the bat business with the goal of ensuring that coaches at all levels of baseball have access to superior quality composite wood bats that are cost effective." The Brett Brothers have been involved in baseball their entire lives. We are four brothers and all of us played professional ball at one time. Bobby and John played in the Minor Leagues, and Ken and George together put in 31 years in the Major Leagues.

Not only did we play baseball because we were good, we truly loved the game. Even today we closely follow the sport. George still works for the Kansas City Royals. Ken has been a broadcaster for 11 years with Fox. Bobby runs our professional franchises here in Spokane, the baseball Indians and the hockey Chiefs. The oldest brother John is a frequent visitor here to see his brothers and watch our teams play.

Like most baseball families, it all started in a small Southern California town call El Segundo. The boys are all about two years apart, and we had some kind of sporting event about every night. I remember most of our family meals were hot dogs, and everything was on the fly. Our parents were always there to cheer for us, and our lives were generally very happy.

Ken was the first to sign a pro contract at age 17. He was the fourth player taken in the annual draft by the Boston Red Sox. When their scout Joe Stephenson came to sign him, our dad said, "the one you really want is the skinny, barefooted one, George." George in 1966 was all of 12 years old.

If you move up the clock to 1971, George was a senior, and Joe Stephenson desperately wanted him to be Boston's #1 pick. The Red Sox said no, and the Kansas City Royals took George in round #2. The rest is history. Ken played 11 years for numerous teams. George turned out to be exactly the player our late father envisioned. He was a 3-time winner of the Batting Title in three different decades. He was very consistent, and always played the game very hard. He was the greatest Royal, and still makes his home in Kansas City. In the summer of 1999, he was awarded Baseball's highest award, election to the Hall Of Fame in Cooperstown, New York.

In the spring of 1998, the Tridiamond Bat Company needed a place to "try out" their new baseball bats. Because the Bretts owned the only local professional team, an association was formed. When Tridiamond got both NCAA and Major League approval to sell bats, they needed some baseball help. At this time we bought into the company and changed the name to Brett Bats.
