Description

Known for comfortable gloves that perform unlike anything else on the field, Akadema has raised the bar with the Torino Series. With a light brown palm and a chocolate brown shell, the Torino Series performs even better than it looks! Akadema's newest glove line is made from soft and smooth kip leather that enables the Torino Series to be 20% lighter than traditional gloves, yet just as durable as U.S. steerhide. These gloves break-in quickly yet retain their shape better than any other glove on the market. This 33.00 Inch Catcher's Mitt features a two-piece closed hinge web design that is optimally designed for easier ball retention. The deep pocket on this mitt makes dropped balls a thing of the past, but the unique shape still allows for quick ball transfer. With a conventional open back, the Torino Series Catcher's Mitt gives players the control they've been looking for. Akadema: Bring Your "A" Game! Free Shipping!

College Catcher

Pros: I am currently using this glove, and I like it. I'm a college catcher, and it's holding up pretty well. This was my first Akadema glove, and received it from school. I can honestly say the leather quality definitely matches up well with the A2000.

Cons: The glove was hard to form to the pocket I wanted because it was very wide in the fingers of the glove. Other than that, I really like this glove.

Pros: Looks good. Holds up well

Cons: Takes a very very long time to break in. Also it is difficult to loosen the pocket making it hard to make this glove have a deeper pocket.

Is this glove's pocked deep? i rpefer a deep pocket. jlm
This glove will have a pocket that's a littler deeper than average.
Jeff
is the leather soft or hard? jro
This particular model is designed with kip leather so it will have a softer, lighter feel.
Jeff
will this glove keep its shape and not get flimsy umidk
This glove has a very good reputation of keeping its form and being a very good glove. As long as the glove is taken care of in the off season, this should be a very good glove for years to come.
Brett
i am 14 and use a 32 inch catchers mitt. a rawlings gold glove. should i go up by an inch or by a half inch? should i get a 32.50 or a 33 tm
It really comes down to personal preference. Most 14 year olds will use a glove between 32 and 33 inches. If you want a glove you can use throughout high school I would probably recommend a 33 inch mitt.
John
is this a very good glove for a 14 year old boy? cjhscatcher44444life
Yes, this would be a very good glove for a 14 year old. This glove should last him through high school. This glove has been known to last a long time.
Brett
Which catchers mitt should i get this one or the louisville slugger tpx silver slugger model? Joe
That's an excellent question that I really can't answer for you. So much of finding the right glove comes down to the personal preference of the player. The Silver Slugger may be a littler lighther in weight because of the mesh back and it is also a half size smaller. Both will have deep pockets. Both are made from top-of-the-line materials, but the Akadema is all leather and may have a slight edge in durability. I would put these two mitts on par with each other and if I were picking one for myself, it would all come down to looks.

Does this model have the finger hammocks like the asm43 or like the previous apm41 model? My son had a praying mantis apn41 patriot model and I sold it and bought a pro preffered by Rawlings, but he actually liked Akadema better, so I am going back to this glove but don"t know if I should get the 47 or 43 model freddog
Yes, this mitt does indeed have finger hammocks for the thumb and pinky.
Patrick
Hey,I was wondering if this glove would be good for an experienced catcher playing 13U competitive travel baseball and middle school ball and is looking to play at the high school level and to extend his profession? How long would this glove last? johnsonator
At 33", the Akadema Torino Series: ASM47 is a good option for a 13u player who is looking for a mitt to last them through High School. The Akadema Torino Series: ASM47 has very good durability and should last 3+ years.
Tyler
How does this glove compair to the A2000 series? Jbird
The Akadema Torino Series: ASM47 Catcher's Mitt With FREE Glove Bag is made from Kip leather. Kip leather is a softer leather that will be easier to break-in than Wilson's A2000 Pro Stock leather. The leather on this Akadema Torino Series will be 20% lighter as well.

What is the difference between the Akadema Torino Series (ASM47) Catcher's Mitt and the Akadema Torino Series Praying Mantis (APM43) Catcher's Mitt ...
Both the Akadema Torino Series (ASM47) Catcher's Mitt and the Akadema Torino Series Praying Mantis (APM43) Catcher's Mitt have the same quality leather. However, the Praying Mantis model is a completely different "praying mantis" pattern and two finger hammocks for added control.
Damon
Will the lacing in the pocket last more than a season? How often should you switch the lacing? Magmar15
The Akadema Torino Series (ASM47) is a high end model from Akadema. It is tough to say how long the laces would last or how often you should change them out, because that depends on how often the glove is used. The more the glove is increased the chance of the laces becoming worn down as well.
Tessa
Would this be a good mitt for a 14U travel ball catcher? ryan
Absolutely. The 33.00" pattern size of this Akadema Torino Series (ASM47) Catcher's Mitt would be a great fit for that age of player.

About the Brand

In Akadema's short but remarkable history it has become one of America's hottest baseball and softball equipment company for professional, college, high school, and serious youth players. The Akadema phenomenon started with the Professional Glove Series and continues with the Reptilian®, Praying Mantis®, Pro Soft™ and Prodigy™ Glove Series as well as the Amish Wood™, Tacktion™ and Xtension® Aluminum Bat Series. Akadema's ownership attributes increasing market share to their innovative professional baseball and softball product line in contrast to mass-produced products that have little to do with quality, feel, or design to raise the level of play.

Akadema's products are manufactured for professional players but are now accessible to semi pro, college, high school, and serious youth players. Akadema products are still designed with the professional player in mind but competitively priced for the professional player at heart. So it's your turn to think like a professional, play like a professional, and use Akadema Professional!

Akadema now has both baseball and fastpitch softball advisory staffs that they work with closely to implement new ideas. Members of the baseball advisory staff include Hall of Famers Ozzie Smith and Gary Carter as well as Howard Johnson, Reggie Smith, Luis Polonia, Sandy Martinez and many others. Fastpitch stars that are on the advisory staff include Crystl Bustos and Julie Smith. The input on performance from the advisory staff gives Akadema something they cannot put a price on. Their advisors don’t talk about marketing or places to sell the gloves, they just care about performance.
