Pros: Very easy to break in. I could almost use it the day I got it. I would expect this quality of leather to take weeks to break in.

Cons: The padding in the palm is a little thin but I don't think it is a problem

Pros: Less than an hour to get it game ready. Deep, secure pocket. This glove swallows ball. Beautifully made, luxurious leather.

Cons: It doesn't make me hit any better than I did before I got it.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Akadema Torino Series Baseball First Base Mitt: ADT57-12? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

Is this a good glove for fast pitch softball? Is the pocket deep enough? Pat
This is not a specific fast pitch design so the finger stalls will be larger compared to a fastpitch model.
John
How long will this glove last? What is the break in time? iScoop
The Academa Torino Series: ADT57-12 First Base Mitt will break in fairly quick and it will also retain its shape very well. This glove is made from kip leather which is just as durable as U.S. Steerhide. This glove is high quality and will last you a long time.
Nick
You guys and girls are a big help! Will this glove fit an adult hand? Hank
The Akadema Torino Series: ADT57-12 should absolutely fit an adult hand! This glove is not designed as a youth glove, so you shouldn't have any problem using it as an adult.
Jennifer
Do you match prices? I see the same series glove on Amazon for $164.95. Ray
We do match prices, but unfortunately we can't match Amazon or eBay.
Zach
Is this glove comparable to the A2000 1613BL? Tom Z
The Akadema Torino Series will be very comparable to the A2000 1613BL. The Akadema will have slightly softer leather for a quicker break-in period.
Kara
For $200 what is the stiffest glove with the most longevity? John
Some of the first base mitts that will have the best durability for under $200 will be the Nokona Walnut Series, Akadema Torino Series, Mizuno Classic Pro Soft Series, and the Louisville Slugger TPX Pro Flare Series.
Tom
Beside the size and pocket web design, what is the difference between the ADT57 and the ADJ154 gloves? Stiffness, durability. Etc. Justin
Both have similar durability, but the Akadema Precision Series: ADJ154-12 First Base Mitt will be a little softer and a little more pliable than the Akadema Torino Series: ADT57-12 First Base Mitt.
Tyler
Would this glove work for slow pitch softball? I was also looking at the Worth CFBMX and the Miken BSBFT but I am worried about the stiffness and longevity of them. jomig12
The Akadema Torino Series: ADT57-12 First Base Mitt is a baseball glove, but it does have a deep pocket and could be used for slow pitch softball. The Miken Super Soft Series: MSBFT First Base Mitt is specifically designed for slow pitch and would be the best fit.
Kara
How would this glove compare to the Rawlings Heart of the Hide mitt? My HOH is nearing the end of its useful life. Darrell
The Akadema Torino Series (ADT57-12) First Base Mitt would be pretty similar to a Heart of the Hide in leather quality. The Torino Series, with Akadema's kip leather, will have a lighter feel than most Heart of the Hide models. The Torino Series will also have a pretty stiff feel out of the box, so it will take some effort toward the break-in.
Mac
How much does the glove weigh? ryan
The Akadema Torino Series (ADT57-12 First Base Mitt) weighs 24 ounces.
Frankie
What size is it? I cannot seem to select a size. Maks
The specific Akadema Torino Series (ADT57-12) only comes in one specific pattern size rather than being able to select different sizes. It is a 13 inch pattern.
Patrick
How stiff is this glove out of the box? Phenom Baseball
The Akadema Torino Series: ADT57-12 First Base Mitt will be slightly stiff out of the box, but offers a quick break-in.
Marcus
Is this a 13' glove? the '-12' in model # has me worrying. Denis
Yes, the Akadema Torino Series Baseball First Base Mitt: ADT57-12 will be a 13" glove. That product code just differentiates different products and could hint at this glove being released in 2012.

About the Brand

In Akadema's short but remarkable history it has become one of America's hottest baseball and softball equipment company for professional, college, high school, and serious youth players. The Akadema phenomenon started with the Professional Glove Series and continues with the Reptilian®, Praying Mantis®, Pro Soft™ and Prodigy™ Glove Series as well as the Amish Wood™, Tacktion™ and Xtension® Aluminum Bat Series. Akadema's ownership attributes increasing market share to their innovative professional baseball and softball product line in contrast to mass-produced products that have little to do with quality, feel, or design to raise the level of play.

Akadema's products are manufactured for professional players but are now accessible to semi pro, college, high school, and serious youth players. Akadema products are still designed with the professional player in mind but competitively priced for the professional player at heart. So it's your turn to think like a professional, play like a professional, and use Akadema Professional!

Akadema now has both baseball and fastpitch softball advisory staffs that they work with closely to implement new ideas. Members of the baseball advisory staff include Hall of Famers Ozzie Smith and Gary Carter as well as Howard Johnson, Reggie Smith, Luis Polonia, Sandy Martinez and many others. Fastpitch stars that are on the advisory staff include Crystl Bustos and Julie Smith. The input on performance from the advisory staff gives Akadema something they cannot put a price on. Their advisors don’t talk about marketing or places to sell the gloves, they just care about performance.
