Although it won't be the stiffest glove that we offer out of the box, the Pro Stock leather on this 2017 Wilson A2000 Super Skin 33.5" Catcher's Mitt (A20RB17M1SS) will still require some break-in once it has been received by the customer. The SuperSkin will cut down on the break-in time, but I would count on using the mitt for at least a few weeks before taking it into a game situation.

The 2017 Wilson A2000 Super Skin 33.5" Catcher's Mitt: A20RB17M1SS is a very high quality catcher's mitt. This mitt is a 33.50 inch design and for a player that is 11 we would typically recommend a 32-32.50 inch pattern. This mitt may be a little big for an 11 year old from a size standpoint as well as this mitt is an adult mitt so this can fit too large on the wrist and finger stalls. This mitt will take some time to break in as well.

The 2017 Wilson A2000 Super Skin 33.5" Catcher's Mitt: A20RB17M1SS does not have extra padding to help with protection. The Super Skin is designed to reduce weight and repel mositure, but unfortunately it would not give extra protection to his thumb.
