For a player at 9 years old, I would make a suggestion of getting a mitt with a 31" - 32" circumference and a youth fitting. Both the 2017 Wilson A2000 33" Catcher's Mitt: A20RB17CM33 and the 2017 Wilson A2000 Super Skin 33.5" Catcher's Mitt: A20RB17M1SS are great mitts to consider for a high school and college catcher. These two mitts are slightly different in size and the SuperSkin feature on the 33.5 inch will give the glove a slightly lighter feel to it as well as making the mitt more moisture resistant and tougher than the traditional leather mitt. In the end, it will come down to one's personal preference.
