Description

Wilson A1K 11.25" Baseball Glove: A1KRB161788

Pro-Level Performance for the Up-And-Coming Player - the Wilson A1K is BACK!

Glove Benefits

The Wilson A1K takes the same legendary A2000 and A2K patterns designed for the game's Elite and tweaks them slightly to meet the needs of Intermediate to Advanced-level players everywhere. Built from Top-Shelf Leather, the A1K Series provides pro-level performance without the need for a lengthy break-in. This high-end steer hide leather is the best quality available on the open market, and it blends a high level of durability with a softer, mold-able feel that allows you to form the glove to your exact preference. Each glove in the A1K Series also features the Pedroia Fit. This feature includes all of the fit modifications that Dustin Pedroia requests for his own game-model glove. These include a smaller hand opening and tighter finger stalls for a more snug fit, longer laces, and a low-profile heel. By removing the padding typically found at the base of the pocket or "heel", Wilson is able to create a design that closes easier and minimizes the rebound created when bad hops hit the base of the glove.

This model features an 11.25" pattern size, an I-Web (Wilson H-Web) with Double X Laces, and is perfect for a Youth to Intermediate Infielder.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Wilson A1K 11.25" Baseball Glove: A1KRB161788? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

Is there a big difference between the fitting of an A2K and the fitting of this A1K? Also, will an A2K be too big for the hand of a 9-year old? ARC
The finger stalls and wrist opening on this 2016 Wilson A1K Series (A1KRB161788) will be smaller in comparison to most other A2K options of gloves. Most A2K models are meant to fit the hand of an adult male, while these A1K models are meant for more adolescent sized players. I would say that an A2K model will most likely be too large for a 9 year old player.

I am 12 years old, a shortstop, do you think I should pursue the A1K or the A2000? And can I have the A1K for a long time? Leo
If you are a smaller player with smaller hands I would go with an A1K, because the A1Ks are going to feature Pedroia fit. With a smaller hand opening and tighter finger stalls. If you are a bigger player with larger hands you would probably grow out of an A1K quickly and I would recommend going with the A2000 series. Some A2000s feature the Pedrioa fit too, so I would keep an eye out for that.

How is the padding on this glove? RickD
Overall, I wouldn't say that the padding on this 2016 Wilson A1K Series (A1KRB161788) is going to be extra thick to protect the player's palm. However, if the player is consistently catching the ball in the pocket of the glove, there should be no pain in their palm.

My son is playing 6u and he currently has the 10.75" Wilson Cano glove. He is on the smaller side and has small hands. Does the glove have a tighter finger and hand fit? He is constantly having to adjust his current glove. Phenix baseball
This glove is not labeled a youth model, and as such the wrist opening and finger stalls are intended to fit the hand sizes of adult and older players. You will want to search for "Youth" gloves for someone the age of your son, as they will be designed to fit smaller hands.

My son currently uses the A1k model (Size: 11 1/4) which I see is discontinued. Is there a model that has a similar fit. He was thinking of getting the a2000 but not sure on size and fit? He just turned 11 yrs old, infield, travel ball. Jesus Angulo
The Wilson A1K Series: A1KRB161788 but check out Wilson A2000 SuperSkin Pedroia Fit 11.5" Baseball Glove: WTA20RB20DP15SS and it will have the same fit.
