Pros: I'm using this glove to play the infield men's softball and it's exactly what I was looking for - deeper pocket but small enough to play shortstop with. Honestly I'd feel comfortable playing the outfield with it as well. The leather is very soft but extremely high quality. I've been a Mizuno and Rawlings glove user for about 20 years but this is already my favorite glove to date. It does require some break in but not nearly as much as a pro preffered or something of similar quality. I'd highly recommend this to anyone, even a baseball player looking for a third base mitt or a utility glove for infield or maybe some light outfield action. Shipping was quick. I am a very satisfied customer of both justballgloves.com and Nokona!

Cons: None, I would only disagree that this glove is game ready out of the box. Out of the box it was very stiff. I played catch twice before my first 2 games and it was definitely still stiff. After the third and fourth games it was pretty much good to go. I recommend using a softball to strike the parts you want to make flexible (in my opinion mallets are a waste of money, I broke this in just using a softball and my fist). Not game ready but if you strike and play catch with it for a few hours it'll be good to go.

Pros: Amazing Glove !!! Made in the USA makes it even better . Pretty much broke in and ready to go . Hit a bucket or two of balls too my son and it was ready to go . U can tell much pride was took in making this glove . Definitely not a massed produced glove .My son has many of the high end brand gloves Wilson A2000 A2K , Rawlings etc but none compares to this . We will never buy another brand glove . Nokona is the only choice from here on out . Also ordered this glove on Wednesday and had it Friday .

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Nokona X2 Elite 11.75" Baseball Glove: X2-1175H? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

Is this really game ready out of the box? John
Yes, the Nokona X2 Elite Series: X2-1175 is game ready.
Tori
Would this glove be ok for slowpitch softball? erik
The Nokona X2 Elite Series (X2-1175) is a technically baseball pattern, but the pocket size would lend itself nicely to slow pitch softball. The 11.75" pattern would also be ideal for a third basemen as well.
Tessa
How heavy is this glove? Does it take long to break in? Mike
The Nokona X2 Elite Series: X2-1175 weighs approximately 610 grams and will not require much break-in, if any.
Marcus
I have a 10 year old that i am trying to find a glove to play with for a few years into high school. He plays 2nd and short mostly, as well as some outfield. Would you suggest this size or 11.5? chrisf
I would recommend this 11.75" pattern, as he plays some outfield. Typically, high school outfielders use between a 12" and a 12.75" pattern. He would benefit from a little bit larger of a glove. However, I would caution that this glove will feature an adult fit with wider finger stalls and a larger hand opening, so that may be a little big for a 10 year old.
Nick
Does this glove have more padding in the palm area than the 1275 version? N
The Nokona X2 Elite Series: X2-1175 will have the same amount of padding as the 1275 model.
Marcus
What makes this glove so expensive? BC
This Nokona X2 Elite Series (X2-1175H) is higher in price due to the combination of stampede and kangaroo leathers used to construct the glove. The high quality leathers account for the higher price.
Ben
What is so special about this glove? What are the leathers used? BC
The Nokona X2 Elite Series: X2-1175H features lightweight Kangaroo leather, as well as steerhide. This makes the glove really lightweight, while maintaining durability.
Logan
Would this be a good glove for men's softball at 2nd base? I am also considering the X2-V1175I. I do not have gigantic hands so I am sure the X2V would fit. Which would be the better choice? Robbie
The Nokona X2 Elite Series: X2-1175H features a 11.75 inch design and could make a good option for your needs. Would also recommend looking into the Nokona X2 Elite Series: X2-1200 as this model will have a slightly deeper pocket. Both models would fit well on the hand of an adult male player. The Nokona X2 Buckaroo 11.75" Fastpitch Softball Glove: X2-V1175I would not make a great choice as this will fit more snug on the hand then what you may prefer.
Cameron
My son will be starting 11U travel ball in the spring. He pitches, plays corner infield and some outfield. He is tall for his age and has larger hands/longer fingers. Do you think this glove would be appropriate? Mike L
Although the 11.75" size of the Nokona X2 Elite Series: X2-1175H is typically used by infielders, it can be used in the outfield occasionally if that is not the primary position. 11 years of age is the earliest I would consider going with this level of glove, as it will take some time to break in, and is sometimes difficult for a younger player to use. However, if you're looking at this as an investment for a glove that will last him several years, this would definitely be a great option.
Logan
Will this model work well for a high schooler who is a pitcher? Boris
Most pitchers will use a glove that features a closed web design. The Nokona X2 Elite 11.75" Baseball Glove: X2-1175H, with its H-Web, is a better option for a 3B at the high school level.

About the Brand

Joe Phillips writes about his visit to Nokona. It was like sitting in at the plantation party in Gone with the Wind or maybe gazing from the grandstand at the “Field of Dreams” while the Black Sox players tried to work out their idled muscle kinks. And, I was gently reminded by the lines in that movie while I dug into a delicious plate of North Texas barbecue: “threshing crews eating at outdoor tables. It continually reminds us of what once was, like an Indian-head penny in a handful of new coins. . . You talk a good dream.” And here I was. . . graciously invited into this magical and charming “Field of Glove-Making Dreams” in former Comanche Indian land at Nocona, Texas. It was a warm August evening, basked in a golden harvest moon, while friends and the Nokona family paid its kindly southern regards to two of their own and two of America’s finest but relatively obscure glove makers, Bobby Storey and Elvin Ray “Ab” Lemons. You see, the pair had just completed fifty years of time-honored employment with Nocona Athletic Goods, the last of the all-American made ball glove company's. The occasion brought echoes of past successes and human contentment, but in Nocona today you still experience much the same American texture of yesterday and perhaps a glimpse into tomorrow as well.

The two stately gentlemen were being honored in a way that could have taken place in the same manner when they first reported for full-time work at Nokona, in 1952, or back even earlier, in 1933 when the company started making sports equipment. During a brief and informal presentation at the celebration, Nokona’s new sales manager called the two glove makers “Legends - because that’s what their ball gloves stood for, American know-how and pride taken in a best-made product.”

A man of few words but a marveled craftsman who could literally conjure a sows ear into a playable baseball mitt, Mr. Lemons got up and fondly recalled the several men he worked with through his half-century and of the training that had been passed along to him from his old bosses.

His counter part and just as talented, Bobby Storey, had filled in at just about every job at Nokona. Bobby, the son of the sporting goods founder, R.E. “Bob” Storey had most recently served as president and now chairman of the board of Nokona. Though past retirement age like Mr. Lemons, he’s now serving at one of his favorite roles, that of ball glove designer.

At a time for employment in this country when five years is considered a long tenure with the same company, Ab and Bobby are not even the first to complete a half-century journey with Nocona Athletics. The now deceased Jewell Brickey, hit that milestone in 1993, after joining the company during World War II. That’s the kind of devotion that employees forge into this glove-making outfit. A devoted and sustained tenure here is not rare. Last year the company advertising, displayed along with Storey and Lemons, three other employees who had garnered 40 years with Nokona, Warren Clary, Bud Meekins, and Melvin Weedin.“

I don’t have to tell you that the one constant through all the years has been baseball”, wrote W.P. Kinsella. And the most constant of ball glove makers has been Nokona, and the men and women there who keep alive the tradition of American craftsmanship of ball glove making. The spirit of glove-making is still alive and well in Nocona, Texas.
