Pros: This glove is a BEAST.. best glove I have ever owned by a long shot and that's saying alot. I play men's softball and I've always settled for a 12.5inch glove since being that a 12.25inch is for of rare. This glove is simply amazing and game ready straight out of the bag... and I mean GAME READY. Awesome quality and a perfect fit makes this glove perfecO!! Let's just say I'm hooked.

Cons: A Little pricey, but WELL worth it!!

Pros: Getting back into the game at age 60, this glove is the best, my last one was a Heart of the Hide by Rawlings and took forever to break in and heavy. After one coat of Nokona NLT Classic Glove Conditioner and 3 weeks of working with it, it feels like a old glove, soft and ready to go! Well worth the money. Pocket is deep, light to hold, l love this glove! If this glove had a H web it would be a killer looking glove! If you love playing soft or hardball, get this glove!

Cons: None what so ever!

Pros: Beautiful example of quality USA workmanship. Great choice for the player who never knows quite where he will be playing in the field on any given day. i love the closed back and index finger hole. I plan on using an inner glove with this product as I want to,protect my investment. I'd you get a chance look at the YouTube video on how they're made.

Cons: None yet.

Mike

Pros: Bought this model for softball ( 3rd base). Very easy to break in with a little glove oil - I also caught 200 balls with it off a baseball pitching machine. Ready to go for game situation. I love the back of this glove and the wrist closure adjustment compared to other softball gloves. Finally, I'm old school and think gloves should be natural leather color, this glove is really nice looking.

Awesome! Matt parent

Pros: Love the glove. It has more than met our expectation. My daughter loves it and has done very well with it.

Cons: Finger holes are a little wider than her other glove, and it rubbed a blister on her pinky finger. She wears a batting glove while using the glove and hasn't had a problem since.

Awesome... Awesome Glove Tania Parent

Pros: It has an amazing feel. Already broken in and ready to use. My daughter is a 10th grader playing on the varsity softball team. She absolutely loves this glove and everyone on her team has fallen in love with it, too. They all want one!!

Cons: It was hard to pay the price. But... you get what you pay for. It helped knowing that your site offers the 100 day trial on your gloves. This is what persuaded me in forking out the extra $$ knowing that if we didn't like the glove for any reason we could exchange it. But... no need; we love it.

Does this glove come in 13 inch? TOM
No, the Nokona Buckaroo Special Series: UT-1225 will be a 12.25." We do have 5 different Nokona gloves that come in a 13". You can find them here: http://www.justballgloves.com/products/size~13.00/vendor~nokona/
Brandon
What would be a better choice for slow pitch softball outfield? The UT-1225 or the GM-76? joe
Both could work for you but the Nokona Buckaroo Special Series (UT-1225) may be slightly small at the 12.25" size for outfield use.
Brandon
Does it come with an open back? Steve
Unfortunately, the Nokona Buckaroo Special Series (UT-1225) only comes with the closed back design.
Mac
My daughter has very large hands. Would this glove work with adult size hands? Mike
The Nokona Buckaroo Special Series (UT-1225) is an adult sized utility glove.
Patrick
As a 14 year old with smaller hands, is this the best Nokona glove for the outfield? aj
The Nokona Buckaroo Special Series: (UT-1225) is going to work very well for the out field. This leather is also going to be top of the line, and will work well for someone who is looking for a strong, long term glove. The walnut crunch, and kangaroo leather will be extremely strong, and once broken in, will be durable. This glove will also have a very deep pocket making it suitable for outfielders.
Merritt
My son just turned 12 and plays pitcher, shortstop and 3rd base. Is this a good glove for him or might it be a little large for him? He is about 5' 5" and weighs about 110 lbs. Legends Baseball
The Nokona Buckaroo Special Series (UT-1225) is an awesome glove. A 12.25" model is larger than what we would recommend for those positions. We would recommend an 11-11.50" glove for those positions at that age.
Damon
What glove would be better for slow pitch 3rd or SS the UT-1225 or WS1250C? I'm concerned about the pocket depth on the UT-1225 as compared to the pocket on the WS1250C. pappman
The pocket on the Nokona Buckaroo Special Series (UT-1225) will be slightly smaller when compared to the pocket on the Nokona Walnut Softball Series (WS1250C). That makes sense since it is a smaller sized glove as well. Both models are high quality and will be extremely durable. The better glove for you will depend on whether or not you favor a smaller fitting glove, like the UT-1225, of the larger and deeper pocket on the WS1250C.
Tessa
My daughter is a 13 year old pitcher/2nd baseman. Would this glove be appropriate for that? Ball Mom
The 12.25" pattern size of this Nokona Buckaroo Special Series (UT-1225) would be a good utility size for a second baseman who also pitches. Ultimately, it depends on what size the player is comfortable using. The 12.00" pattern size of the (BKF-1200) would be a solid choice too.
Mac
Senior softball player 80+, have been using AMG600KGW Proline for infield. Does the special series UT come any larger than the 12-1/4"? Factory recommended BKF1300 as a good replacement for mine which has been rebuilt twice. It looks like the special series is closely related to mine. Any suggestions? TexasBuckeye
The Nokona Buckaroo Special Series (UT-1225) glove only comes in the 12.25 inch pattern. The Nokona Buckaroo Fastpitch Series: BKF-1300 will be very similiar to the UT-1225. The only differences will be the sizes, and the type of leather. The BFK-1300 is a 13.00 and is made of kangaroo and cowhide leather, while the UT-1225 is made of kangaroo leather. In regards to performance, both gloves will be very similar.
Joe
I'm noticing that both men and women are considering this glove. Is there any difference in the finger stall size compared to female specific fast pitch gloves such as the Nokona X2F elite series? bella
The Nokona Buckaroo Special Series (UT-1225) will have a slightly larger finger stall size than the Nokona X2F Elite Series Fastpitch gloves because it is designed as a utility glove to fit most Baseball, Fastpitch, and Slowpitch players.
Tom
Trying to find a glove for a 6' 6" left handed pitcher, with very long fingers. Is this an option? Chance
This Nokona Buckaroo Special Series (UT-1225) would be a solid choice. Typically, pitchers will use gloves sized anywhere from 11.75" to 12.25". The longer pattern sizes would give you longer finger stalls. This model is the one 12.25" standard-fit pattern we have in stock for a Left Hand Thrower, but we have quite a few 12.00" models which you can find in this link: http://goo.gl/WL32FB.
Mac
I generally play second base and center field both in baseball and slow pitch. Do you feel like the 12.25 inch model would be an appropriate length for these positions? Sean
The Nokona Buckaroo Special Series (UT-1225) could work well for both those positions and styles of play.
Patrick
Is the sheepskin on the wrist their natural or synthetic option? Thank you! Mike
This is going to be a natural option on the Nokona Buckaroo Special Series: UT-1225C
Jack
Is the glove hard to break in? Does you glove treatment take the break in period away? marvin brandenburg
Would not say that the Nokona Buckaroo Special Series: UT-1225C is hard to break in but will take some time, around 1-2 weeks. Our glove prep service starts the break-in process but does not completely break-in the glove.
Cameron
I purchased this glove and really want to love it. Out of the box, my wrist at the thumb will not fit into the glove even with the strap completely undone. I’m a big handed fella, looking for a baseball mitt to pair with my AMG 650 BFC slow pitch mitt. The baseball mitt will be my coach mitt as catching a baseball in my slow pitch pocket is very unsatisfying. Do we think the wrist opening will widen with break in? Or, if these are also designed to accommodate fast pitch players, might the wrist cuff be a bit slender for my use? Love the look of the glove, just want it to fit. Rocco
The Nokona Buckaroo Special 12.25" Fastpitch Softball Glove: UT-1225 is designed to fit a female fastpitch player's hand. These types of gloves are not likely to fit an adult male hand unfortunately.
Cameron
The logo on the glove in the video is different than the one in pictures. Can you tell me which logo is on the ones currently stocked? Joel
Nokona has removed the Native American logo that was used previously. This Nokona Buckaroo Special 12.25" Fastpitch Softball Glove: UT-1225 will feature the Nokona "N" emblem.

About the Brand

Joe Phillips writes about his visit to Nokona. It was like sitting in at the plantation party in Gone with the Wind or maybe gazing from the grandstand at the “Field of Dreams” while the Black Sox players tried to work out their idled muscle kinks. And, I was gently reminded by the lines in that movie while I dug into a delicious plate of North Texas barbecue: “threshing crews eating at outdoor tables. It continually reminds us of what once was, like an Indian-head penny in a handful of new coins. . . You talk a good dream.” And here I was. . . graciously invited into this magical and charming “Field of Glove-Making Dreams” in former Comanche Indian land at Nocona, Texas. It was a warm August evening, basked in a golden harvest moon, while friends and the Nokona family paid its kindly southern regards to two of their own and two of America’s finest but relatively obscure glove makers, Bobby Storey and Elvin Ray “Ab” Lemons. You see, the pair had just completed fifty years of time-honored employment with Nocona Athletic Goods, the last of the all-American made ball glove company's. The occasion brought echoes of past successes and human contentment, but in Nocona today you still experience much the same American texture of yesterday and perhaps a glimpse into tomorrow as well.

The two stately gentlemen were being honored in a way that could have taken place in the same manner when they first reported for full-time work at Nokona, in 1952, or back even earlier, in 1933 when the company started making sports equipment. During a brief and informal presentation at the celebration, Nokona’s new sales manager called the two glove makers “Legends - because that’s what their ball gloves stood for, American know-how and pride taken in a best-made product.”

A man of few words but a marveled craftsman who could literally conjure a sows ear into a playable baseball mitt, Mr. Lemons got up and fondly recalled the several men he worked with through his half-century and of the training that had been passed along to him from his old bosses.

His counter part and just as talented, Bobby Storey, had filled in at just about every job at Nokona. Bobby, the son of the sporting goods founder, R.E. “Bob” Storey had most recently served as president and now chairman of the board of Nokona. Though past retirement age like Mr. Lemons, he’s now serving at one of his favorite roles, that of ball glove designer.

At a time for employment in this country when five years is considered a long tenure with the same company, Ab and Bobby are not even the first to complete a half-century journey with Nocona Athletics. The now deceased Jewell Brickey, hit that milestone in 1993, after joining the company during World War II. That’s the kind of devotion that employees forge into this glove-making outfit. A devoted and sustained tenure here is not rare. Last year the company advertising, displayed along with Storey and Lemons, three other employees who had garnered 40 years with Nokona, Warren Clary, Bud Meekins, and Melvin Weedin.“

I don’t have to tell you that the one constant through all the years has been baseball”, wrote W.P. Kinsella. And the most constant of ball glove makers has been Nokona, and the men and women there who keep alive the tradition of American craftsmanship of ball glove making. The spirit of glove-making is still alive and well in Nocona, Texas.
