Pros: I am in love with this glove. It is fantastic! Out of the box, I put some glove conditioner on it, when and had a catch and it was great. After throwing only 2 or 3 times the glove is practically broken in. The pocket is great. Awesome for higher level players looking for a nice glove. It is lightweight and conforms to your hand super easily. I would defiantly recommend this glove for anyone looking for a great, easy to break in glove.

Pros: Good quality leather, well made glove Made in the USA Purchased this glove for our daughter, a 13U travel and rec player. Her comments are below... - Fits hand well after 2 weeks of owning and a few times playing catch. (and 1 round of Nokona leather conditioner) - A little stiff initially but was not excessive. Was able to use right away - easily moldable

Cons: -A little big on her hand initially out of the box (had to use the strap to tighten it down on her wrist) - Price (but well worth it)

Pros: Purchased this glove for my 12 year old daughter. I had purchased an A2000, but the leather was just too heavy for her. The goal is to be able to use this glove for a while (maybe restring along the way) The glove required very little break in time. We immediately just started throwing. I did rubber band the glove with a 12in ball inside daily. The glove required no steam, oil, etc. This glove is is really good for all positions. The web is deep, but not too deep that when playing the infield it does not allow for a quick release. On the reverse, it provides enough depth when playing the outfield. We are very pleased with this glove.

Cons: I would have liked to see a little more length on the wrist strap.

Great Glove Doug R. Coach

Pros: Purchased the banana tan fast pitch glove for my 11yo daughter. The glove DEFINITELY needed breaking in. I put the Nakona glove conditioner on the glove, worked it for a couple days then had it steamed and stored it with a ball wrapped in it. After 3-4 days the glove is in nearly perfect playing condition. Would definitely recommend.

Cons: Have to put some work in to loosen it up.

Would this model also be appropriate for women, or would the finger stalls be too small for most adult women? N.D.
The Nokona Banana Tan Fastpitch Series (BTF-1250) would be an appropriate size for an adult woman.
Patrick
What is the difference between this and a baseball glove? Would it work for a high school baseball outfielder? baseballer
The wrist opening and finger stalls on the Nokona Banana Tan Fastpitch Series (BTF-1250) will be smaller than a baseball model so it can fit a woman's hand. In general, it would not be a good fit for a high school age player.

How does this compare to the X2 Elite glove? I am trying to decide what would be a better glove for my 14u freshman. Why is the X2 so much more? Is it worth it? I want a glove that will last a long time and is comfortable. Hoss
The Nokona Banana Tan Fastpitch Series (BTF-1250) is made out of Banana Tan Crunch Leather and will require very little break-in time. The Banana tan is an excellent glove and will last a player for quite a while. The X2 Elite is Nokona's top of the line glove. It is made out of a combination of Kangaroo leather and stampede leather. The Kangaroo leather helps the X2 Elite be game ready and does not require any break-in time. The Stampede leather helps make the X2 Elite one of the most durable gloves on the market. The Nokona X2 Elite is well worth the price, because it is game ready and is extremely durable.

Trying to decide between this glove and the Nokona Buffalo Combo Fastpitch Series: BCF1250C. Daughter is a 15 year old outfielder/some 3rd base. They look pretty similar and trying to come up with any advantages/disadvantages. Tom
The 2016 Nokona Banana Tan Fastpitch Series: BTF-1250 and the Nokona Buffalo Combo Fastpitch Series: BCF1250C are both 12.50 inch patterns making them great options for a player who plays OF/3B. The 2016 Nokona Banana Tan Fastpitch Series: BTF-1250 will have slightly more padding while the Nokona Buffalo Combo Fastpitch Series: BCF1250C will have a weigh slightly less due to the use of Bison leather.
Cameron
Is there very much padding in palm of the glove? Elite softball13
The 2016 Nokona Banana Tan Fastpitch Series: BTF-1250 is made with the Nolera Composite Padding System. This gives it a Lighter Feel than Traditional Felt with Similar Absorption and will offer a good amount of padding in a light feel.

What size and brand glove is best for a 2nd baseman? My daughter is 5'10". jj
Height does not have anything to do with what size glove a player might use, but for an average fast pitch 2nd basemen I would recommend a glove between 11.75"-12". I would check out the 2016 Nokona Buckaroo Black Fastpitch Series (BS1200CBLK).

Debating between this glove and the walnut series W-V1250 . What is the difference between the two? Beth
The biggest difference is the web design, with the Banana Tan having the fully closed back, and the Walnut 1250 having the H-Web design, along with some other cosmetic differences. Quality and performance will be nearly identical, and both have the wrist strap.
Kyle J.
My daughter is 10 and plays OF on a travel team. Would this glove be good for her? Jennifer
The Nokona Banana Tan Fastpitch Series: BTF-1250 is an excellent option for an outfielder who is seeking a higher end glove to get numerous seasons out of. Generally, for someone that is 10 we would recommend a smaller glove at around 11.75-12.00 for an OF. If she is comfortable using a larger glove then there is certainly nothing wrong with that.

About the Brand

Joe Phillips writes about his visit to Nokona. It was like sitting in at the plantation party in Gone with the Wind or maybe gazing from the grandstand at the “Field of Dreams” while the Black Sox players tried to work out their idled muscle kinks. And, I was gently reminded by the lines in that movie while I dug into a delicious plate of North Texas barbecue: “threshing crews eating at outdoor tables. It continually reminds us of what once was, like an Indian-head penny in a handful of new coins. . . You talk a good dream.” And here I was. . . graciously invited into this magical and charming “Field of Glove-Making Dreams” in former Comanche Indian land at Nocona, Texas. It was a warm August evening, basked in a golden harvest moon, while friends and the Nokona family paid its kindly southern regards to two of their own and two of America’s finest but relatively obscure glove makers, Bobby Storey and Elvin Ray “Ab” Lemons. You see, the pair had just completed fifty years of time-honored employment with Nocona Athletic Goods, the last of the all-American made ball glove company's. The occasion brought echoes of past successes and human contentment, but in Nocona today you still experience much the same American texture of yesterday and perhaps a glimpse into tomorrow as well.

The two stately gentlemen were being honored in a way that could have taken place in the same manner when they first reported for full-time work at Nokona, in 1952, or back even earlier, in 1933 when the company started making sports equipment. During a brief and informal presentation at the celebration, Nokona’s new sales manager called the two glove makers “Legends - because that’s what their ball gloves stood for, American know-how and pride taken in a best-made product.”

A man of few words but a marveled craftsman who could literally conjure a sows ear into a playable baseball mitt, Mr. Lemons got up and fondly recalled the several men he worked with through his half-century and of the training that had been passed along to him from his old bosses.

His counter part and just as talented, Bobby Storey, had filled in at just about every job at Nokona. Bobby, the son of the sporting goods founder, R.E. “Bob” Storey had most recently served as president and now chairman of the board of Nokona. Though past retirement age like Mr. Lemons, he’s now serving at one of his favorite roles, that of ball glove designer.

At a time for employment in this country when five years is considered a long tenure with the same company, Ab and Bobby are not even the first to complete a half-century journey with Nocona Athletics. The now deceased Jewell Brickey, hit that milestone in 1993, after joining the company during World War II. That’s the kind of devotion that employees forge into this glove-making outfit. A devoted and sustained tenure here is not rare. Last year the company advertising, displayed along with Storey and Lemons, three other employees who had garnered 40 years with Nokona, Warren Clary, Bud Meekins, and Melvin Weedin.“

I don’t have to tell you that the one constant through all the years has been baseball”, wrote W.P. Kinsella. And the most constant of ball glove makers has been Nokona, and the men and women there who keep alive the tradition of American craftsmanship of ball glove making. The spirit of glove-making is still alive and well in Nocona, Texas.
